Fawlty Towers should be on this list.
Don’t know what that is 😂😂
@@acgraphics1139 it’s the sitcom with John Cleese lol 😂
Except for Mr. Bean and Red Dwarf, this seems to be more a list of modern British shows. No mention of the earlier Doctors that drew American audiences and nothing, not even an honorable mention, of Monty Python's Flying Circus, which was favorite viewing in my house when I was a kid. And, hello, not a word about The Young Ones. Such a tragedy it's not on the list.
@@kristinbrown8291 That’s Watchmojo. Completely unaware that the world wasn’t created in 1980. Zero effort made to learn otherwise.
One of the greatest of all time no doubt, But is it an international success?
Nothing beats Doctor Who and Mr Bean.
just seeing matt smith's face is nostalgic
Doctor Who is Fantastic The best show in my opinion
And mr bean is funny
Plenty beat both of them. Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, etc.
@@rain_rxinyxplayz8094 Doctor number 9 reference
Mr. Bean is looked at as a representative of the UK that he even made an appearance in the Olympics along with James Bond 😅
This should have been 9 great british comedy shows because we all knew who was gonna be number 1
Sherlock is my favorite British show
Doctor Who is awesome, I just wish more people would talk about the original series more because it is so good
“You know, you are the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain.”
See, I do.
So glad to see classic Thomas made the list :). Nothing make me smile more than my days with the ol' tank engine.
top 10 UK shows that USA tried to copy and failed lol
None of are failures can be as bad as the American inbetweeners
@@Liverpoolfcthebest red dwarf lol ?
@@BerrymanMovies na us inbetweeners is like getting crippled in the legs then having ur arms chopped off then being shot everywhere in ur body then someone takes a dump on ur head
I would have put Midsummer Murders on the list. It is one of the most sold British Tv shows worldwide and has been seen in more than 200 countries.
Not on the list, but I love Are You Being Served. My sister and brother in law worked in a department store for many years, and the characters reminded them of their coworkers.
Same here. Loved the show... It was very British
When I lived in America, I was constantly reminded of "Are you Being Served".
I was watching mr bean the other day and it’s absolutely hilarious
Tbh I'm surprised that Call the Midwife wasn't on here.
I doubt that's popular in many countries.
@@davidz2808 my mom like that show
I think Skins should've been on this list. Every teen from across the globe was super obsessed with it and I was one of them.
Can't forget, Absolutely Fabulous and Vicar of Dibley.
Great to see my all-time favorite TV Show (that being Thomas the Tank Engine we all know and love) on the top 10 list as well as a few hints to a few other countries it was also popular in as well, although it is owned by many owners like the Britt Allcroft Company, Gullane, HiT Entertainment and (sadly) Mattel. The BBC did try to produce a TV series of it once in 1953, but failed due to am elementary mistake. Still it is an absolute brilliant British icon today (even through the hearts of us fans old and new).
Love watching your videos because they make me feel better whenever I’m feeling upset or anxious
Farther Brown !!!! I was so sad when Netflix dropped this awesome show. Love the characters and I love mysteries.
Monty Python should be on this list!
i'm surprised it wasn't
Rowan Atkinson is such an amazing actor! I’ll watch just about anything he’s in! Please return someday mr bean!
Mr Bean and The IT Crowd are some of the best TV shows.
Is Red Dwarf popular in more countries than OFAH or Fawlty Towers?
What about David Attenborough series like Planet Earth/Planet Earth II, Blue Planet/Blue Planet II, Frozen Planet etc... they were all quite popular worldwide as David himself is. Even Blue Planet II had around 80 million viewers in China and slowed down China's internet at the time.
One of the few western programmes approved for watching in Iran
I'm glad that The Graham Norton Show, Red Dwarf and Mr. Bean is on this list. What about Danger Mouse and Count Duckula? They were the most popular British cartoons that have been seen worldwide and they shows also aired on Nickelodeon in the United States during the late 1980s, and were popular in the ratings for the channel.
Mr Bean is such a gem even after 30 years. The tv programme will surely live on forever
My favorite tv shows from Britain are Inside No 9, The League of Gentlemen, Psychoville, Misfits, and Good Omens.
Have you seen psychoville? It's from the same actors who wrote and starred in inside no 9 and the league of gentlemen.
@@wolfman5181 it's spelled Psychoville and already in my comment. I really like that show too.
@@miriamwebb9432 I'm an idiot ! ...must have the wrong glasses on. 😶it's still a really good programme.
@@wolfman5181 it is, and doesn't get enough attention.
10. The IT Crowd
9. The Graham Norton Show
8. Downton Abbey
7. Sherlock
6. Red Dwarf
5. Thomas & Friends
4. The Great British Bake Off
3. Top Gear
2. Doctor Who
1. Mr. Bean
I was obsessed of something British back in High School.
It's not on the list, but Endeavour is the best show I've ever seen, British or otherwise. The IT Crowd and Graham Norton are fantastic show, tho.
I love Endeavor, Morse, and Lewis. British crime shows are so much better than American ones
Endeavour simply does not get enough love. The music, the architecture, the clever twists of fate. It is the epitome of a murder mystery without the somewhat cringeworthy endings. Set in the 1960s and now 70s it shows a much better time, even if there are worryingly high murder rates.
Almost forgot that Sherlock was a thing. Benedict cumberbatch has come a long way since then!
Only fools and horses was my favourite when I was growing up
top gear [2002-2015] and mr bean are my pick
Top Gear is possibly the greatest car show of all time, and in my opinion my favorite show period
I've loved Mr Bean for as long as I can remember, loved The IT crowd (saw it a year or two ago for the first time), and only recently discovered the brilliant Sherlock (please forgive me).
Where’s little Britain? That was downright brilliant!
Downton Abbey!!! I can also binge watch GBBS and Father Brown. What the heck. Just throw in the entire content of Britbox.
Honorable mentions;
Father Ted
Fawlty Towers
The Thin Blue Line(TV show)
I don't get Mr. Bean but I can see why the other entries on this list are so good.
There is another show called the baldy man which is also very similar.....minimal talking and visual jokes, I really love both of them.
I've never understood the love for Mr Bean either. I guess it's because physical/visual comedy is universal.
How can u not get it it's just a man doing normal everyday things in a stupid way I can understand the cartoon not being as liked cause it just takes away the charm of the live action version
@@AlisonBryen I'll have to explain to u too but its because he does normal everyday things but in stupid ways or thrown in silly situations idm if u don't like but I don't get how u don't get it like its the most obvious show too understand imo
Never actually got on with either Bean or ITCrowd, but I'd love to see Rowan Atkinson create another character, other than his revival of Maigret. But my favourite UK shows list would include (in no particular order) ; 'C.I.5. The Professionals', 'Dad's Army', 'Keeping Up Apearances', 'Monarch Of The Glen', 'Not Going Out', ''Man About The House', All Creatures Great And Small' (Both the Old Version and The New), 'Worzel Gummidge' (again both the original Jon Pertwee Version, and the Mackenzie Crook version), 'Catweasel', 'The Avengers', 'Blakes 7', 'Jeeves And Wooster' and the greatest series of them all (alongside Classic Doctor Who) 'Last Of The Summer Wine'. As for a strictly kids show, I'd pick either 'The Wombles' or 'Shaun The Sheep'/'Wallace And Gromitt' and 'The Famous Five' (1970's version for preference.) There are just so many more, mostly older shows rather than some of the new ones, but still British is still better virtually most every US show. As for Talk shows, I agree that 'The Graham Norton Show' cannot be beat, and you know why? Well its because he puts all his guests on the couch and lets them interact with each other (and he is a master of drawing them out, and it doesn't hurt that he liberally lets them booze as well) which makes for some incredible fun, especially when the guests are so much from different worlds. The greatest episode for me is still the one with Taylor Swift and John Cleese. Where else in the world would you get to see Cleese and Taylor comparing their cats.
I always thought Thomas and Friends was creepy growing up
I'm surprised The Office wasn't on the list!! Please tell me it was a mistake!
Oh come on!!! Doctor Who only 2?!?!
Good list, but why No Monty Python in list?
You missed peaky blinders!!
Are all or even most of these popular across the world? I'm struggling to believe that Graham Norton is popular in Pakistan or that Red Dwarf is popular in Brazil.
Both popular in the US though
Great list but what about Wallace and gromit?
Where is thin Blue line, Monty Python, fawlty towers, the black adder. Why aren't these shows on the list
They aren’t new enough. I’m pretty sure Watchmojo doesn’t research anything, they just ask around the staff. Anything before 1980 predates their knowledge.
Seriously, why is Mr. Bean #1 and Monty Python's Flying Circus not on the list?
yeah, americans talk about it all the time
The Chase is super popular here in New Zealand
My favourite British tv shows are Thomas the tank engine Fireman Sam Bob the builder Tipping point Eastenders Horrible Histories Danger Mouse and A league of their own
Midsomer Murders beats any Scandi crime series
It is a shame that peaky blinders is not appreciated enough by people around the world. I guess a majority of people don’t watch the show because of the confusing accents hah.
Peaky blinders is a bag of shite
The IT crowd is a show I know I would love but I never got to see it, but are u being served, black mirror, and uk bake off I love have have loved are u being served since I was a child..I'm sure I'm missing a couple..great brit bake off was brought to my attention by my 10 year old! She watches it all the time
Sherlock, Top Gear and The Great British bake off, are my favorite series ever! And they are british, fancy that. :D ♥
Fawlty Towers had to be here
Top Gear is my favorite show ever made, and I live in Texas
In Australia we have our own Thomas the tank engine that we can travel on as well.
Very where ?
@@zack6283 in Victoria, although it's been years since I went on it and I don't know if it's still around anymore
@@alexandracalleja6537 ok thanks 🙏🏻 I live in Australia 🇦🇺 too
Australia loves anything British i do
I do wish there would have been a couple more seasons of Sherlock. The last season, meh. The sister story😒 I could have done without. I was just silly. I really enjoy Doc Martin. And I have that exact picture of the Tardis in my living room lol. I enjoy seeing how many people know what it is. (I’m in the US).
You all ever heard a show called "Monty Python's Flying Circus"???
Far more beloved worldwide than any you have mentioned here judging from international ratings has been Poirot, Miss Marple (the Joan Hickson version) and Midsomer Murders (when John Nettles was still in the role)
I'll be shocked if The Avengers UK isn't on the list. It's one British series I love.
What about Monte Python? I can't believe that they left "Im A Lumberjack" off the list.
I have one question to ask:
Do you feel the power of the Gladiators?
Thomas & Friends and Mr Bean are swag.
I'm British and can't abide Mr Bean.
Gogglebox and Miranda or not going out
You can't forget about shining Time station without that there wouldn't be no Thomas
What? No mention of Ab Fab, The Young Ones, or Vicar of Dibley?
@Jason Mistretta ab fab was pretty popular when it was on comedy central
@@chynne33 I agree that the young ones should have been on this list, it's one of my favourite comedy shows of all time. 👍
4:38 Ey!
I'm surprised Peppa Pig is not on there too, that is shown in a lot of countries
What about the vicar of dibley?
Nice
What about Bllake"s 7?
Why is Top gear Only at 3. It should be n.1. Yes the new version isn't as good as the original, but it gave out great spin offs around the world and their actually better than the current UK version (well at least the Us and Australian versions.)
How about Monty Python?
Wheeler dealers.
THOMAS!!!
peaky blinders?
Well, that Sherlock is certainly not a favourite of mine, I cannot picture that cumberbatch git in the role of Holmes, now Jeremy Brett was a whole different matter, he embodied Holmes with perfection and was more closely related to character of Holmes as envisaged by Conan Doyle.
Bodyguard?
so where is James Bond...LOL😄
That's a film franchise not TV
The Young Ones
Fawlty Towers
Are You Being Served
Monty Python
The Office
Wallace and Grommit
Black Adder
Hear, hear! The Young Ones is must see TV.
Bean? Are you out of your minds?!
The Inbetweeners?
Did you, when you said "season," mean "series"? Season is more American. Unless I am writing about American television, I never use the word season.
What about Midsomer Murders? John Nettles is not happy!
For Doctor Who read onced loved
Fawlty Towers
Blackadder
Only Fools And Horses
Father Ted
Monty Python’s Flying Circus
Dad's Army
Yes Minister
Porridge
One Foot In The Grave
Blue Peter
Thunderbirds
Teletubbies
The Sooty Show
Rainbow
Button Moon
The Bill
Luther
Heartbeat
The Benny Hill Show
Danger Mouse
Count Duckula
The Wind In The Willows
And the best of these is…. Red Dwarf.
You forgot peaky blinders
Dr. Who was always popular in the United States. Why else do you think Fox made that lame-ass Dr. Who TV movie in the 1990s.
Doctor Who TV Movie? More like Doctor Why Was It Made?
@@CptnWolfe Exactly.
Great Doctor, crappy film.
No abfab?
Surprised Monty Python isn't on here? Americans talk about it all the time
Lister, is this a 14B? Does it look even remotely like a 14B? This is a 14B, Lister. This is a 14F.
Christopher Eccleston was just as good as Tennant and Smith, if not better.
Where's Misfits or Friday Night Dinner?
Doctor Who>>>
Mr Bean is the ONLY one I want to see
Where is the inbetweeners?
Monty Python should be #1. Sorry Dr. Who fans.
Who is more quoted? I rest my case.
James bond easily the most recognisable person in film industry says otherwise
sorry but: WHERES BLOODY PEAKY BLINDERS.
