Why are people cussing down the Wii U for? :S They aren't in any competition with anyone. They do what they do best which is making fun games...they've always done this for how many years now? Stop with the immature hate man. So pathetic.
"They aren't in any competition with anyone" They. Fucking. Are No matter how much Nintendo says they aren't, they're and always will be competitors to other publishers/producers in the gameing market.
Shadow14r43 GP In any case I still stand by that. Nintendo can't just ignore it's competence, the fact they have it won't fade away by pretending they're there to do it's own thing. It's very important that they do, but if some basic things slip that the others offer, it doesn't help their case.
VladNorris(Draftsman) Doesn't really matter cause they're not competing. And what I meant in my comment was that your comment never provided proof or any reason to think they'd be competing.
f this game had Online Co-op this would be perfect. but Nintendo always says NO for some odd reason. They've had so many chances to implement online co-op but said no like a bunch of idiots.
I already knew not to expect a Grade A Zelda title from this crossover, so a 7 doesn't bother me. This and Smash Bros. 3DS will tie me over until Bayonetta 2.
You know what pisses me off? Reviewers/people who say that a Dynasty Warriors game is too easy when you can SELECT THE DIFFICULTY YOU WANT BEFORE PLAYING. Damn.. Games that run on the DW engine always get's a score lower due to stupidity.
He did mention, that you can set the difficulty higher, but it doesn't change the overall difficulty at all. Note that I haven't played the game, so I can't comment on the difficulty myself.
"It should be noted that rarely any enemies stood toe to toe with me for more than a few seconds, but that's the point." THANK YOU for realizing this point and accepting it. All other big reviewers are really stupid and criticize this. If mowing down little enemies isn't your thing, don't blame the dang game for it. Mowing enemies is the ENTIRE POINT!
You didn't mention replay value, very little on adventure mode and nothing about skulltulas, the story line or really tell about the characters. I found the story line to be refreshing as you got to play the villain in some levels and the game has at least 50 hours of game play to complete it(The legend, free, adventure and challenge mode), without any DLC. The co-op was obviously going to suffer and I found the bosses difficult in the stages with many of them, which wasn't mentioned. I have around 100 hours, as not a huge fan of Zelda or Dynasty Warriors(you didn't mention this either), and I own all the DLC. I have around half of the game completed and I play co-op regularly and despite a few quirks, it's a really good tool. (Also weapon variety... There is alot you could've mentioned that made this game good, without even mentioning the beautiful graphics).
Okay, Wii U owners. Do you honestly really want this game? Instead of Hyrule Warriors, you could save 60 dollars for SSB for Wii U, Bayonetta 2 or even Captain Toad, a very great puzzle game. Or you can spend it on past releases like Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Wonderful 101, or Super Mario 3D World. Hyrule Warriors is not even a Nintendo-made game, they even made the ReDead's look like wimps, and usually they are fucking scary in the main series.
Why not all of them? :P I bought my Wii U on 2012. About Nintendo and Platinum games that you mentioned, I already finished Super Mario 3D World (still playing with friends), MK8 (I play online almost every night), Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (pretty hard and too much rage quits for 100%), and now I'm playing Wonderful 101, most hardcore of them. Now I'm saving money for SSB and Captain Toad. I agree with you: Hyrule Warriors is expensive, but I will buy it when the price down.
I don't know why but Trolls are wrong. This Game is great and if you see and play it for yourselves and you know your in for a sweet ride. The Story is great!!The Game Mechanics everything is Great and the Community gave this Game 8.3 to 9 out of 10.and play this Game i'm telling you Guys this game is great!!
I find it sweet that they're changing it up, but I also want to have that classic set of puzzles and characters. I play Zelda because you can wander and the quests test your mind. Hopefully if I do decide to get it, it's worth getting.
yeah i bought it last week, its pretty fun getting the master sword and becoming bad ass link once again, playing though as the "demong king" ganon and all the other characters in the roster. also it ties in the storylines... so pretty fun overall
haven't played it but i do like the character model for link! I personally like to OOT and TP models, the other ones like wind waker and skyward sword just look too childish? too colorful? Zelda is supposed to be mostly bleak
The fact that you just informed me there's a Wind Waker Zelda to be earned makes me wanna pop this game in and give it another chance. That's pretty cool. Also, the OOT one sounds interesting.
Something that characterizes Nintendo is that they are always trying new formulas to catch new gamers, this is a great entry for those Zelda fans who are interested in a Zelda action game (like Dynasty Warriors franchise). Despite the 3ds version is not as great as the Wii U version is, the 3ds version is really enjoyable.
This review was pretty fair up until the final score. They didn't really present enough negatives to warrant a 7/10 in my opinion. They pointed out the slowdown in frame rate during multiplayer in Mario Kart 8 along with a few other issues and it still got 9/10 (granted, it was a great game). Still pumped for Hyrule Warriors
It's kinda sad that all the youtube comments these days are just fanboys screaming at one another... Can't we all just get along and just enjoy gaming for what it is?!
1:35 »The other big thing Hyrule Warriors has going for it is its diverse playable roster of _thirteen_ *familiar* Zelda characters.« *Shows footage of Lana* Congratulations, you managed to choose _the one newcomer_ among literally a dozen characters that appeared in traditional Zelda games.
This game while not being an oficiall zelda game has some things other zelda games dont. You can play as someone other then Link' some charecters have multiple weapons and combos to master' and you can replay anny mission as often as you like. Ther's plenty of things to work for like unlockking new weapons' heart pieces and charecters' levelling them up and customising wrapons. I'v had more fun on this game then anny other zelda game but if it doesn't suit you for your owne reasons then that's fine with me. Respect my opinion and I will respect yours.
Nintendo is doing a decent job with the games they have been releasing. Hyrule Warriors is definatly a must have for the Wii U, alongside MK8 and Smash. Wii U is looking good going into the holiday season! Nintendo in general is looking great this holiday season Omega Ruby, Alpha Saphire, Smash for both DS and U. Good job Nintendo! Its enough of the remakes for now try something totally new Hyrule Warriors is a good start!
Decent review. While I disagree with the dull bosses part, as I thought they were intense and kept me on my toes, I'll let you have your opinion. And I do wish the multiplayer was a bit stronger. While I'm fine with your negatives, I do think a 7/10 is too harsh on it. I do think that some other critics are being kinda harsh with this gam (Looking at you Polygon), but overall decent review. Pretty soon, I'll do one of my own.
Everyone who is dissing nintendo in the comments, I have this to say. Graphics do not make a good game, nintendo saved the gaming industry so if you like play station and xbox just remember who the saviours are. Plus in my opinion the wii u wins this console generation. Come at me haters.
I'm unfortunately not surprised it did mediocre, it looks like fun but doesn't look like it would have much sustainability. I still want to play it, but not at full price ^__^
take away the fact that this is an established franchise providing nostalgia/fan service. The score would be much much lower (look at actual dynasty warrior game reviews). so i think for this game 7 is a solid rating. the main thing this has going for it are zelda characters and somewhat zelda universe. Its make up to a repetitive format. Im not knocking the game its fun as hell but dont get mad that he calls the game what it is.
Seriously, there people here who are complaining even though they didn't play that game. Those guys who play like FPS's and shit. How can people just enjoy one genre. Judging from videos how the game plays like is never true. The target audience are Japanese fans who like Dynastie Warriors. Zelda is a title that isn't very popular in Japan.
Hyrule warrios, bayonetta 2, smash bros and mario kart 8 were all my favourite games of 2014, everything that wasn't on the WII U really sucked. So glad i decided to pick one up in 2014, such a great system with amazing exclusives
I’m new to the Nintendo Switch and I’m loving it. Is this on the Nintendo Switch Store? I know Hyrule Warriors Age Of Calamity is on the Nintendo Switch Store.
People, this isn't a real Zelda game, stop acting like it is, it's just a spin-off/arcade style game, the real Zelda game will be way better, don't worry.
7 is a fair score. I love Zelda but it can get really repetitive. Playing with a friend is really fun though. Using the gamepad for player one and the tv screen for player two was a great idea, I can't believe other Wii U games haven't used this functionality
I think Hyrule Warriors in a nice addition to the Zelda series, even if the back tracking can get annoying, can be a repetitive at time, and your allies calls for help WAY too much throughout the game like Star Fox 64. I do like the format and the gameplay, and different worlds what this game offers. May not be for all Zelda fans, but I'd say it's worth a playthrough. So give it a rent or even buy and see for yourself.
Is the game TOO easy and simple? There's a handful of games I'm thinking about for the U if there's a drop for the holiday sales until I get a PS4 and for this game in particular I don't want to shell out $60 for stale repetition without any difficulty.
I know I will be picking this up! Now, the score being a 7 I don't think it too bad seeing that Destiny isn't really lighting up the scores either. So, games will appeal better to others.
i dont know what did you all expect its a dinasty warriors themed game ofc it will get repetitive really fast i knew it would get 7/10 but nvm i wasnt hyped for that game anyway Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros are the real deals
They said the Wii U was better spec wise than the PS3 and 360. How can Otero say that there is some lag when there are too many enemies? Dynasty Warriors on PS3 had no issues like that.
if this game had a gun and a team death match online IGN would give it a 9.7 and praise its ambition. -_- this game is going to be awesome for us Zelda fans. Please go out and buy this. You won't regret it. The new Zelda U for 2014 and hopefully MAJORAS MASK remake is on the way.
My 1985 nes and my 1982 game&watches still work perfect on this day. Just as the rest of my Nintendo consoles. My pc s and x boxes and playstations die on me every time after about a year or 10. Just saying!
umm it doesn't tie all the games together? what about A link to the past and link between worlds or the gameboy games and minish cap and Wind Waker, the only games before the DLC's are Ocarina of time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword that are in
Hmm, Debating on whether I should get this....... Im playing the living crap out of fire emblem warriors Now............. Should I get This game....... Never played it on the Wii U..................... Lol I'm litterally on the E shop looking at pre-purchasing this game.
Looks fun, but I wouldn't pay anymore than $30 for it. Shame I'm going to miss out on the ganondorf dlc but I imagine it will be up on the eShop for a price at some point, and it's not really "free" when u think about it. This game is $30 tops... so ur paying an extra $30 for that dlc.
Considering Dynasty and Samurai Warriors games offer so much more, I'm expecting their future reviews to be a bit more forgiving than they have been in the past. In the past western reviews have been so harsh, then they whack a Zelder skin on it and suddenly everyone goes crazy.
Pretty good rating from IGN, looking back in the past at some others and how they were rated. And this game could have used some more features and build up, but alas it is not a classic Zelda game.
It's a good thing I decided to wait for Smash Bros. before I get my hands on this. I'll get it whenever I have the money that I can simply afford. As of now, I'm on a tight budget.
Really; how did this get a 7? That was so damn generous. Because it was a "Zelda" game? You could hear it in his voice that he was trying so hard not to say anything negative. Gamesrader's review of 2/5 was much more honest. The new thumbsdown button makes a satisfying noise.
This game may be different from normal Zelda games, but it still looks amazing. I don't care what people say about it, like I said, it still looks amazing! :D
I've been a fan of Zelda games since I was a child on 8-bit NES. I understand this is a Dynasty Warriors game re-skinned as Zelda but unfortunately I find this type of game to be extremely boring because it is so repetitive so repetitive. Very little variety in the gameplay beyond button mashing. First hour was fun, the second hour was tolerable, and the third hour I was questioning why I was still playing. I'm very happy I didn't buy this game! There is a voiced narrator in between levels, but the characters in game lack voices (?!!?). I guess they are trying to be more like Zelda games this way, but they need to modernize those too. This feels very jarring for how cinematic they present the game. I hope sincerely that future Zelda games feature quality voice acting and not just the occasional grunts and yells with text at the bottom. Gameplay feels like an N64 game with a HD coat of paint. Gamepad integration is lame-- you can't use touch screen in the menus for crafting or upgrades or anything like that. Weak! All it shows is your next objective... but that information shows up on the tv anyways so why bother? I do like that there are lots of characters to play as though, that part is neat. Also being able to play second player with player 2 on the gamepad is really nice. No tv sharing, yay! This game has a TON of stuff to do (even if it is all basically the same thing over and over and over) I think younger people will love it and have a lot of fun with it, but as an adult I don't have the patience for mindless button mashing anymore.
I would love to get this! But it is launching way too close to Smash 3DS and my wallet can't afford it :( Then Smash comes out in November, so this will have to wait until December/January :'( Still, can't wait to play this!!!!
When I saw this at first I thought it was right as I only got a couple hours into the game. Then later I was completely outraged, this needs more than a 9!!!!
After hearing the review, it really just sounds like the reviewer named a number of things that would otherwise make it be scored much lower, but of course it's got a Nintendo character on it so lets score it higher despite the issues! I just gotta love how people will clearly see them make reviews like these that don't feel honest yet the same suckers still say "IGN hates Nintendo OMG! THey Sony ponies!" when we all know that isn't true.
I wonder if anyone would call this repetitive if if they didn't know about Dynasty Warriors. Sure you are doing to same thing over and over, but that's true of just about every game ever outside of Warioware. Just while other games change scenery to hide that fact, this game changes amount and type of enemies. I disagree with the bosses just feeling like damage sponges as you have to block some moves and dodge others. Although he did mention he just grinned and payed to level up, so maybe he didn't bother actually playing the game. And that final boss battle was pretty damn good. Better than most final bosses in the Zelda franchise.
This review was lacking in detail. Go watch the Gamexplain one. They actually go over tons of aspects of the game pros and cons. By the way 7 means "decent" not "mediocre".
7 is not bad, but I think it's really harsh like Jose's most reviews. I saw games that got more cons but a way better score. I like Jose but sometimes...
Like always, the GameXplain review is the only one worth watching.
IGN Italy gave HW an 8. Totally a better review. (Yes, they considered the soundtrack.)
I think there's more outlets than that for a great review.
Derrick did an amazing job, I agree. But I don't think that this review was bad either.
Agree.
hey, this review is true. and they didn't lie or said something which doesn't make any sense, its their opinion after all.
Why are people cussing down the Wii U for? :S They aren't in any competition with anyone. They do what they do best which is making fun games...they've always done this for how many years now? Stop with the immature hate man. So pathetic.
"They aren't in any competition with anyone"
They.
Fucking.
Are
No matter how much Nintendo says they aren't, they're and always will be competitors to other publishers/producers in the gameing market.
VladNorris(Draftsman) Dude you're making it less believable than what you're trying to make it seem.
Shadow14r43 GP
In any case I still stand by that. Nintendo can't just ignore it's competence, the fact they have it won't fade away by pretending they're there to do it's own thing.
It's very important that they do, but if some basic things slip that the others offer, it doesn't help their case.
Doesn't really matter cause they're not competing.
VladNorris(Draftsman) Doesn't really matter cause they're not competing. And what I meant in my comment was that your comment never provided proof or any reason to think they'd be competing.
I think a 7 is what this deserves. Seems fun, but not amazing.
Finally someone with sense everyone is crying it deserved a higher rating or that its should be a 4 a 7 is a great score for this game.
blu pyro The reason people want this with a low score is because it's based off of Dynasty Warriors and isn't a typical Zelda game.
You haven't played it, why would you think you get to grade a game you've only seen videos of? Such stupidity...
The Duke of Spook Go play Superman 64 then ask me that again. Lol
Aeon Break BURN!!!
f this game had Online Co-op this would be perfect. but Nintendo always says NO for some odd reason. They've had so many chances to implement online co-op but said no like a bunch of idiots.
I don't think online Co op would work with this game
This looks fun I should be getting it within the next couple of days :)
A Nintendo video!?!?!?! Here come the whiney Xbox and PS fanboys like always
I already knew not to expect a Grade A Zelda title from this crossover, so a 7 doesn't bother me.
This and Smash Bros. 3DS will tie me over until Bayonetta 2.
I hope you don't mean that smash isn't gonna be as good as beyonetta.. Cause that's a pretty bold statement.
When I'm not playing Bayonetta, I'll be playing Smash, or vice versa
Smash Bros. will be the only game in my XL's card slot until Persona Q.
Haha true that man
You know what pisses me off?
Reviewers/people who say that a Dynasty Warriors game is too easy when you can SELECT THE DIFFICULTY YOU WANT BEFORE PLAYING. Damn.. Games that run on the DW engine always get's a score lower due to stupidity.
He covered the higher difficulty in the review.
***** Didnt the gundam one get a decent review from ign?
He did mention, that you can set the difficulty higher, but it doesn't change the overall difficulty at all. Note that I haven't played the game, so I can't comment on the difficulty myself.
Its a general rule of thumb that you're supposed to review games on normal difficulty.
***** Maybe they were talking during the preview of the game? If you didn't know, talking and playing any game at the same time is difficult.
im totally getting a wii u now
kappa
Get a Wii U for bayonetta 2
Yu Narukami
nah, not a system seller
I just got a wii u for this game, mario kart 8, bayonetta 2, smash bros, and a few other games coming out look good.
*****
smash bros is the only upcoming wii u game that makes me consider getting a wii u
***** super mario 3d world, and wind waker hd are also worth picking up.
7 still better than what destiny got
Which is completely bullshit to me.
Wait…. IGN already made a review?
what'd destiny get?
Roger Squash to much 6
At least the gameplay in Destiny is still better than this game.
I love the wii u. So many great games. Too bad it did not that well
"It should be noted that rarely any enemies stood toe to toe with me for more than a few seconds, but that's the point." THANK YOU for realizing this point and accepting it. ok. i still like the bleak versions more lol makes it seem less child-like
Sam Sheth It makes it look bland and cold to me.
Not really, just look at the concept art for the original game.
The fact that you just informed me there's a Wind Waker Zelda to be earned makes me wanna pop this game in and give it another chance. That's pretty cool. Also, the OOT one sounds interesting.

Congratulations,
you managed to choose _the one newcomer_ among literally a dozen characters that appeared in traditional Zelda games.
Funny on how I got the TV ad for this game before I watched the video.
7.0 is around what I expected from this game. Looks fun and should be able to hold me over until Smash Bros Wii U comes out.
I'm having tons of fun with this game.
It's a strategic battlefield with a beat them up style.

David Nguyen, they've had this game since July (Japanese version.)

I would give it an 8 personally. Smash bros better get an 11 though.
Well, it depends which Smash Bros. The Wii U version looks good but the 3DS version has some of the worst controls in a video game I have ever played.
Patrick imnottellingyou
My hand didn't fall off when playing the 3DS version, but it almost did when playing Kid Icarus.
Patrick imnottellingyou ...You do know that you can chance the controls? Right?...
You have pretty low standards.
The Nintendo Gamer
I shouldn't have to change the controls, they should be fine :/

I like games with great replay value. So being able to replay levels and the great list of playable charecters made this a great game for me.
They said the Wii U was better spec wise than the PS3 and 360. How can Otero say that there is some lag when there are too many enemies?
Dynasty Warriors on PS3 had no issues like that.
10 hours it took the completionist 246 hours to complete it to its fullest extent it's nowhere close to 10 hours
I'm going to give this game a better chance souly for the zelda fan service, because i'm on a hude zelda high.
Is Skull Kid going to be in this game?
if this game had a gun and a team death match online IGN would give it a 9.7 and praise its ambition. -_-
this game is going to be awesome for us Zelda fans. Please go out and buy this. You won't regret it. The new Zelda U for 2014 and hopefully MAJORAS MASK remake is on the way.
Just announced for Switch!
I've pre-ordered it from amazon UK for £30, that's a damn good price.
My 1985 nes and my 1982 game&watches still work perfect on this day.
Just as the rest of my Nintendo consoles.
My pc s and x boxes and playstations die on me every time after about a year or 10.
Just saying!
For your number one source of entertainment, keep it locked at IGN's comment section
Can't wait for Hyrule Warriors!
umm it doesn't tie all the games together? what about A link to the past and link between worlds or the gameboy games and minish cap and Wind Waker, the only games before the DLC's are Ocarina of time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword that are in
People have different tastes in games, it doesn't mean if its the 7/10 you cant buy the game or the game sucks. I'm buying the game anyways :)
Hmm, Debating on whether I should get this....... Im playing the living crap out of fire emblem warriors Now............. Should I get This game....... Never played it on the Wii U..................... Lol I'm litterally on the E shop looking at pre-purchasing this game.
BlackStarVega idk it looks interesting enough is there any bonus for pre purchasing on the eshop?
Matthew Sansom sadly no.
BlackStarVega darn :/ well then I'll probably wait and get the physical version so that I can save space
lol,,,, toooo late XD thanks anyway
Looks fun, but I wouldn't pay anymore than $30 for it. Shame I'm going to miss out on the ganondorf dlc but I imagine it will be up on the eShop for a price at some point, and it's not really "free" when u think about it. This game is $30 tops... so ur paying an extra $30 for that dlc.
This game is so much fun i've kept playing it ever since it came out! Lana is my favorite this game actually made me a Legend of Zelda fan! :D
I was wondering if I should get mario 3d world or hyrule warriors
Looks way more appealing than any Dynasty Warriors game, that's for sure.
I love Zelda but not as much as I hate Dynasty Warriors, maybe I'll borrow this from friends.
We shouldn't complain. This wasn't developed directly by Nintendo. If it was, then it would probably be more immersive.
I love dynasty warriors and samurai warriors and Zelda so this is a must for me
I just bought a Wii U for New years for this game.
Nice pre ordering for 3ds on March 25 midnight gamestop
repetitive yearly shooter 10/10 repetitive action game where slaughtering waves upon waves of enemies feels satisfying? 7/10 wth?!
it only gets repetitive if you don't know attack variations.. you know, mixing weak and strong attacks to make varied combos..
Really; how did this get a 7? That was so damn generous.
Because it was a "Zelda" game?
You could hear it in his voice that he was trying so hard not to say anything negative.
Gamesrader's review of 2/5 was much more honest.
The new thumbsdown button makes a satisfying noise.
locan only... its 2014 damn...

Jonas Rosenven huh?
It's 2014. Not its. I'm just contributing to your original post :)
Jonas Rosenven Okay yes i know. But why would you do that?
had the potential to be amazing, 7.0 is fair but could have easily scored a 9 if a few of these issues were fixed
As a fan of Zelda: I agree with this review, game looks repetitive , I think I'll wait for the actual Zelda game.
Every bitches about graphics, but yet we all love retro games as gamers. I will pick this up, no matter what one person at IGN says.
I would love to get this! But it is launching way too close to Smash 3DS and my wallet can't afford it :( Then Smash comes out in November, so this will have to wait until December/January :'(
Still, can't wait to play this!!!!
That is very surprising. I did not think it would get such a high score.
Why would launching enemies in the air in over the top ways ways would prevent the game from being boring fast they look repetitive to me.
7/10 is generally what I would expect for this game nonetheless I am still hyped for it
Good thing they didn't name it after the 'Legend of Zelda' series cuz it will take a huge punch to the franchise.
My buddies got this so I will def be borrowing it from him to check it out.
this makes me want to get a wiiu and pass on the xbox one and ps4
They should do this type of game for Castlevania. Like this if you agree!!!!
Didn't feel like a Zelda game. Twilight Princess still remains #1 in my book.
I wanna get this game but reviews for it have just been mediocre, I am a diehard zelda fan and I really want to enjoy this game. Should I get it?
yes... Yes! and YES!!!!!
I agree, and I'm glad I did, it is awesome. Pretty damn underrated if you ask me.
Sooooo its just like Dynasty Warriors? Could of told you that.
7 is not bad, but I think it's really harsh like Jose's most reviews. I saw games that got more cons but a way better score. I like Jose but sometimes...
