- Wielding their signature blend of melody and technical riffing, All That Remains led the second wave of metalcore in the 2000s along with bands like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying. Putting out an album almost exactly every 2 years for a decade, they have been extremely consistent players in the genre. Following the tragic death of guitarist Oli Herbert in 2018, the band's future was suddenly put into question for the first time. While continuing to tour with new guitarist, virtuoso Jason Richardson, they wouldn't release new music until "Divine" in 2024 just a few short weeks ago. Divine represents a significantly more technical sound than previous albums, which is saying a lot! Do you like the new sound? Which era of All That Remains album is your favorite? The fact that This Darkened Heart is so vastly overlooked is criminal. That whole album fucks.
Always wanted them to re-record the drums on that album with Jason Costa after how great he played them on the Live DVD

Divine is very reminiscent of 06-08 ATR for me personally, definitely agree with your statement of the first 4 albums

Been hooked on All that remains from the first song I heard "Focus shall not fail" from this darkened heart one of my all time favorite song not there best but got me into metalcore and been hooked ever since great guitar skills and keep up the love for them.
This got me in all of the nostalgia feels. I need to re-listen to the discography

What ruined ATR for me was the vocals, the clean vocals sounded weird after their 3rd album... 2nd and 3rd album were masterpieces

All that remains is one of my favorite bands of all time. They just have so much good stuff. Unfortunately I can't play almost anything by them.

Divine is definitely a new technical sound, but the new one they just released has more FFDP meets Disturbed vibes to it (fan of both those bands), but not for ATR

Divine sounds like a return to form for them. 2006 - 2010 ATR was peak ATR. After than, Phil started descending into Trapt-level madness and thus the quality of the music declined with him.

Yeah, Jason Richardson is REALLY good
He’s only on the newest album. All albums prior, except their first “Behind Silence and Solitude” with guitarist Chris Bartlett, are the late Oli Herbert. RIP
Also, yes, Jason Richardson is amazing, but nobody will truly replace Oli.
The only thing I can think of when their older stuff comes on is that Peavy 5150 head
