Nothing like walking across Lake Simcoe, far from shore, and one of those BOOM!! come out of nowhere to scare the 💩out of you! And yes, I thought a transition from -12C of winter into a beautiful early Spring day with a short boat run over to our summer slip would be good for everyone to watch. Glad you enjoyed it.
Frigid. Don't know if you've ever witnessed something called Frost Quakes, but it's a phenomenon that happens during extreme, extended cold events. During the most severe conditions, rocks in the ground will freeze & crack with such force that they sound & feel like small explosions. A rare occurrence in these parts, but when it does happen, you know that's a KoLd day! 🥶
@ I have not witnessed what you are describing. And honestly I’m glad I can watch your video and appreciate the phenomenon without living in an area that regularly experiences it! Where we live now in the DC area is the furthest south we’ve ever lived and I’m happy with that.
@eternitysshore Yes, winters up here can be brutal sometimes, this year in particular. Last year, it was like winter didn't exist, but now we're back the way we remember from our younger days. As an aside, we very nearly bought a Sea Ray from the Washington area a number of years ago, but the deal fell through. I recall looking at maps for our route home to Ontario, but it wasn't to be. That said, the boat we DID end up buying was ultimately purchased in the U.S. - our 400 Sedan Bridge from the great state of Michigan.
That was a close one, but happily we survived the plunge into the frigid waters of an otherwise frozen Lake Simcoe. Shortly after we went through, two more snowmobiles broke through in that very same spot.
First time i have seen it recorded. Have experienced a few big ones ice fishing on nippissing.
Thanks for the taste of summer can’t wait

I remember you sharing this previously. Super cool!

Wow that's loud.. boogaboo 😍😍😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗
Crazy, eh 😁
Were you at the boat show last Thursday? I thought I saw you but was unable to say hi.
Not me, our visit was on Saturday 👍
I grew up near a huge cranberry bog. Those sounds are very familiar to me.
Can scare the heck out of you when walking out on the lake 🤣
That is neat. Glad you and your wife were OK after your snowmobile accident.

Couple more months...
It sure is! But I couldn't wait to re-live some early Spring boating one in this one 😊
I'm counting down the days!
