    After Vatrer Power reached out to us several times, we finally agreed to review their server rack battery. It comes in slightly cheaper than the "name brand" server rack batteries, so we ran it through some testing to see if it stacks up to our favorite batteries from EG4. In Today's video, we share our opinion on whether or not you should try to save some money, or pay a small premium for batteries from an established brand.

    Bought one last month, no regrets a solid battery. Free shipping is one of the reasons I bought this battery, you really need to make that clear when you compare it to the EG4 cost, there is normally a $300-400 difference when you factor in shipping.

  • @OP-fd4lh
    @OP-fd4lh 2 месяца назад +20

    The problem with the name brand batteries you mentioned is the shipping price makes it over $400 difference, not just $100. Shipping in the US is around $300+ for the name brands alone where as I can pick this up on multiple sites with free shipping.

    I have 6 of these batteries and originally purchased one to try it out. Then pulled the trigger and bought another 5. They have been dead ass reliable. They don't have all the wizzbang features of the EG4 or othrs but for the price I paid (around $970 then) was well worth it.

    Spent several minutes chatting with support on the web site, mentioned various RUclipsrs and built up a level of comfortability with their level of support, and also haggled a little successfully.
    It's currently in standby with a 3kW off-grid inverter waiting for a power cut so it'll the keep fridge and computers running, or be used for mobile applications in the field, such as rescuing EVs or camping, tools etc...

    I'll stick to my cheap primitive cave manning. 4- 12v batteries in series. I don't care about monitoring them. I haven't looked at my system in months. Only thing I care about is if I generate and store enough power to run my house through the night.

    The only reason I would buy that would be for a cheap way to extend the run time of my Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra during and emergency or bad weather. I wouldn't hook it up to a All in one Inverter if it can't communicate with it properly.

    I bought one of these because Eg4 batteries were $300 to ship. after I made my purchase I found a company shipping Eg4s for free. When I went to upgrade to more batteries I went to order Eg4s but they were on pre-order. about 5 to 6 weeks before they would be shipped. So I ordered 2 more of these. Strangely enough, the new ones were a slightly different size. One batch was slightly taller and narrower width-wise than the other.

    If you're going to go cheap, like I did, then just build your own battery from the raw cells. That way you can use the BMS and other components you want. I built my own 320ah 48v 16.4 kwh battery from the new EVE m31 cells including a smart 200a 48v BMS, flexible bus bars, etc. for around $1,800. Three EG-4 server rack batteries (still 20ah less than mine) would be $3,900 on sale. A $2,100 price savings is significant.

      I am really not sure why more people don't build their own. I did the same, saved at least 50% as you said and I know I have good cells. No one ever talks about what kind of cells are in these rack mounted.

      @@CorwinPatrick Or you can configure your battery to fit your available space. I configured my 16s 48v battery so all the cells are lined up in a row because the space where I needed to put it, under my bed, was only 12" wide, though the length of the bed. On the other hand, I was able to configure my 12v 560ah 2p4s battery, so it fit under the steps of my motorhome where my original 2 GC2 golf cart batteries used to reside. If I went with a pre-assembled battery, this space would only hold 2 100ah LiFePo-4s batteries, giving me almost 3 times the storage capacity in this same small space.

    • @pteepan2708

      They are all 48v units but they are now labelling 51.2v
      Until they change the name(voltage) on every 48v product, you are building a 48v system.
      Please correct me if I'm wrong. Make sure you include photos of Victron and other top brands advertising 51.2v inverters.
      Yes your battery even can charge higher than 51.2v and inverters have a wide range volt it works with but as of today we either call it 12v 24v 36v 48v

    Amazon free shipping, from Connected or Signature $300+ for shipping. Amazon is $939 so $330 cheaper than EG4 then add shipping and taxes $723 cheaper. Do I want EG4 yes absolutely am I buying one no. I get it shipping isn’t cheap but all the good companies now have some of the most expensive shipping I’ve ever seen which is driving me to order things on amazon. I am strongly against 100Ah cells in a server rack form factor. I've built 4 server rack using GobelPower and EEL cases w/ JK BMS and 304Ah EVE cells. They are 15Kwh each, versus those 5Kwh. They cost me $800 more to build than buying a pre-built 100Ah. I would have needed 12 EG4-LL rack mount modules to match the 4 cases I built to reach my targeted 60Kwh storage. They talk to each other and my EG4 inverter just fine.
