Led Zeppelin big but without the record sales. They were adored and loved. Bands could be big in those days and not get airplay or record sales. Grateful Dead? Word of mouth before internet.
grand funk's not too timeless (doesn't mean they're bad - i actually really like their pre-american band stuff), but mountain's first album is pretty cool.

Yeeeahhh, its sad that this happens. But they'll grow up trying to show their kids the music they grew up with, and it'll be the same thing repeated over and over. That's why my parents played oldies ever since I was a baby. I grew up with shit that was way before my time, and during my time.
It happens, it's probably why I had a fascination with my parents' music of the 50's and 60's because of what I had to hear in the car every morning before school.

The moniker was usually "ABBA to Zappa" I used to hear many many moons ago.
"Eagle" (my favorite song of theirs) would fit quite comfortably on classic rock radio, if you ask me.

As someone who’s born In 98 60-80s music Is all I listen to Grand Funk being a favorite of mine.
One thing I learned from parents is that they had better choices about songs and bands than me. No one can beat the 1970s era.
We kinda can be cause there are *still* people making that kind of music today *and* most of what was worth a crap back then survived while most of the trash was forgotten.
