  • Looks awesome but its functional as well!
Jeeps with the 4.0L are notorious for having cooling issues. Adding some ventilation to the hood will help let some of that heat out of the engine bay.
Quality of this vent seems excellent. Install was pretty straight forward and the template was quite useful. I'd highly recommend this version of the louvered hood vent for the jeep TJ. Link below:

Looks great. BTW, the trick to get rubber hoses onto barbs easily is to put a little spit into the end of the hose.

For anybody removing the hood on a TJ, I would strongley suggest removing the cowl cover first and just loosening the 4 hood hinge bolts under the cowl cover instead as these are not covered in paint, much easier to loosen. *you also dont end up with cracks in the paint ontop of you hood which makes the hinge and bolts prone to rust as moister will get in now..

That looks like a clone of the poison spyder louvers but without the goofy branding etched in at the top, will be interesting to see how the black paint holds up on them.

I feel like it’s exactly the same thing but much cheaper. Seemed like decent quality.

Hi, great vid! any issues since installing? Any regrets in not getting higher end louvers (poison spider)? Thinking of picking this up for my 02 TJ. Thanks!

No issues! Loved it on the jeep. Great for helping to keep the engine bay heat. That straight 6 generates a lot of heat under the hood!!

    Hey man excellent work! OIIIIIO
Now since it’s been 6 months (according to RUclips since you uploaded that video) are you still happy with the hood vents? We get heatwaves over 104 that’s 40c and I was thinking if I should do what you did.

I actually sold the jeep a few months ago, but the hood vents are an excellent addition if you experience high temps or off-roading. The only thing I worried about was corrosion in the engine bay because moisture can certainly get in a bit easier, obviously.

Looks great. The one thing I did notice and would not have thought of until the assembly part of your video is the blue showing around the washer nozzle. Seeing that at that stage of the project I would have left it alone but if I knew before hand I would have painted those 2 areas in mat black. How are the edges without the foam tape? Do you think you might need it or are you happy the way it is? Great job!

I thought about painting the area around the nozzles--I see what you're seeing--but I didn't want a different color painted on the hood, not that it would be any good without the louvers anyway now, but there was just something keeping me from painting black on the blue hood lol. You don't notice it from any angle though, unless looking straight down on it. I'm actually glad I did not use the tape now because it sits so nice and flat along the hood. I have a feeling the tape would have raised it up slightly. I'm pleased with it!

Any risk of water/snow damage to the engine? I live in the Pacific Northwest

It’s possible for water to run back and drip down. I just wouldn’t let it sit too long. If you’re running it often it would likely burn evaporate it all away

Great until it rains and water pours into and onto your engine🤦‍♂️.

I'm not sure anyone is worried about the engine of a TJ getting wet lol. It's pretty difficult to keep it dry on the trails, even with a normal hood.
