I think one of the things that can keep people away of Gacha games is how they try to keep the players to play daily/as much as possible, with daily/weekly missions and events. If you miss thoses you'll miss some rewards like helpful ressources for your progression, the prenium currency for pulling and even free characters and the feeling of missing something while you could get it can be quite overwhelming for some and just stressful overall (I've been there before, that's why l will not play every single Gacha games that gets released in the market, only thoses that really interest me like Aether Gazer, Wuthering Waves and even Limbus Company).

I'd say if there's a Gacha game where you don't need to spend money then morally that games fine. But if its one in which you need to spend money to actually play it, maybe because the end story stages are impossible for non whales, then it's pretty messed up. Because the second you need to spend money is when the game is forcing you to gamble to play it, and that's when I'd recommend for anyone to spend that money towards a non Gacha game.

It is still an inferior design. Especially in turn based RPGs, you cannot build the teams you like because you need to engage with the gacha to form them., IF you are lucky that is.. Not to mention the grind...................

Punishing Gray Raven is the only game I decided to give a try after two ears on not playing a single game, not on PC and not mobile.
Before that I played Arknights but then it could no longer boot on my phone, lmao.
In both games I was/am F2P and they are super fun.
Now, I mainly play for characters and story.
Not a crazy "imma minmax everything and dominate the leaderboard" kinda guy.
So both Punishing Gray Raven and Arknights imo are good.
(In PGR you need to cope through some goring stages at the beginning but as the budget grew so did the content.)

Gacha also monopolizes your attention time. And some of them forces you to spend time with it or else you feel FOMO and fall behind infinitely because content is always churning out and locked away after release.
This means that if you don't participate every day then you feel like missing out, and it's a horrible feeling, which forces you to do your dailies. This aspect I do not like, and I say that as I play Arknight and Guardian tales. It's exhausting and frankly I don't want to recommend people gacha games, even if it's limbus company, because it's like inviting them into a toxic culture.

Like others said, if the game is pay to win then fuck that evil shit. Personally I play Arknights (started it since people said it's a nice substitute for Fire Emblem) and the tactical aspect and the correct use of my operators demands so much brain power that instead of pay2win it's learn2win, as shown by numerous creators clearing bonkers stages with lowest rate operators or without bloody healers. Naturally, the rarest operators are much more powerful than the basic ones but you can't just slap them down on a stage and expect them to do everything for you. Timing their abilities and correct positioning are key.
Not even Surtr, arguably the most powerful unit in the game, capable of melting down waves of enemies will not win you the stage if you just slap her down with no strategy (her OP dmg comes with a cost of slowly killing herself, after which she will retreat and good luck because for the next 60 seconds she has to regenerate)
Such a rare sight for the gacha to actually have engaging and addicting gameplay, on top of good story and great characters.
Other than that I am waiting to start Punishing Gray Raven, since I heard it's great for fans of DMC, requires skill and apparently there is going to be a full PC client soon.

The only gacha game I actually had fun playing and never felt like I was getting scammed was Punishing gray raven.
Unfortunately, gacha games by nature demand you to play every single day. Eventually it just becomes too much of a chore for me. If I wanted to grind a game I would much rather grind a game I payed for at whatever time I want for however long I want.

This was a good video! If you ask me I think half the time people from outside look at free-to-play games with real money options and immediately think it's p2w, even though majority of the really good ones, like Arknights or Blue Archive, have no form of PVP in anyway. The only thing I can think of is Fire Emblem Heroes but that only has one PVP, game mode and you are not required, or forced in anyway to play that mode, the rest are just against AI's. Ones like Arknights are more appealing to me because they are simple, casual games yet it's fun to play and even requires you to strategize with the characters you have. Not only that but story, characters, world building and art is what I like most about them and you can tell a lot of effort was made to create them.

If any of y'all haven't tried Punishing: Gray Raven yet, it's genuinely great, the story is amazing (new chapter that came out on global last month made me cry like goddamn), every new character goes to the base gacha after their patch ends, and the gameplay is pretty fun although it get's quite hard later on, but that's more so a skill issue on my part.
The OST is also heavenly, like seriously, LAMIA, Last Resort, Exorcism, Under Dimension, every song in this game is top tier. So if you haven't given it a try yet, I highly recommend so.

I am immune to gambling addiction. Can't gamble away money if you got no money.
Another thing that supports Genshin is that all characters are viable. Hell, I still use Noelle, the first freebie character that everyone gets at the start of the game (I started Genshin when it was still 1.3 or something close to that). So far there hasn't been a character that was powercrept into being obsolete, they all kick ass with the right builds and set-ups

I have faith in limbus company.
Project moon seems to love the world they've built (rightfully so) and have released a lot of content that doesn't necessarily give them money, like the books, dubbing that short story about how roland and angelica proposed and even hamhampangpang. Apparently they don't get that much money from the establishment and they are always changing it's theme which I assume must cost money too.
We don't know rates yet but it doesn't look like it'll be too hard to get the identities you want since when you roll a repeat you get currency that you can exchange for other identities (as opposed of upgrading that identity or some bs that gachas usually pull) and fomo doesn't seem to be a big deal for the moment because the new stuff will be added in the battlepass and every ego that gets added will be available later in the shop so there's not a big penalty for missing out on a season.
There's also the energy system that rewards experimentation as you don't spend energy if you fail a level.
So far everything that they've shown doesn't look predatory and it looks like they care about their playerbase.

But fans of this game us the worst piece of garbage (those fans which you can hear well (Of course from Twitter)), there was a normal players, but if you find it, you can get a golden medal.
And some Gacha games has a problem. Where is gameplay? You even doesn't need to play the some games, game play itself. Genshin (which has a lot of side of gameplay, but most of the part is Breath of the Wild) and Arknights (Only Tower Defence, where you can find a Hentay) is a good gacha, because you actually can play them. My rule is I don't play games that try to get me to play them by means other than an enjoyable experience, so I haven't really played mobile games since the Infinity Blade trilogy. That said I've set aside the amount of money a triple-a game goes for with the intent of spending it on Limbus co. I'll spend it over my time playing the game as I feel is necessary because I want PM to make more games and they've undercharged for the Korean torture device that is Lobotomy Corporation and my LoR playthroughs reaching the double digits. I'm not a gacha player by any means, these games aren't made for me, but I'm hoping this'll be good enough to be fun regardless.

Yea, I like that about Genshin because it never feels like I’m missing out on the Gacha however, the events now that’s a different story because they locked Albedo’s signature weapon along with other interesting weapons behind events so they are gone for good. Other than that, I know that practically all of the characters will come back at some point plus, the gacha’s banners and pity system is pretty lenient all things considered. As well as since I’m not locked out of world progression by a paywall I’m mot obligated to spend money. Usually I’ll buy Welkan pass and the Battle Pass. That’s like 15-25 bucks depending on if I want the BP player card or not. I don’t really go over that unless I know I’m guaranteed the 5 star then I’ll think but I haven’t felt like doing that in over a year since just playing with Welkan and Battle Pass. @Tsunul and @Tortagor

One of the worst gacha I know is Age of Ishtaria. Trial battles are impossible if you don't have 9star rarity Units (preferable the units that you fight in said Trials), power unbalance af, pity system is basically unreachable as a f2p. Because it's at 25 pulls, but you need 3k for every pull (singles don't count), the best event that gives you the currency is Raid and you pretty much only get half a pull from it (a little bit more from point rewards). Raid event is also not always. Some events barely even give you like 300 for a whole week. Union vs Union events are dominated by whales. One team of Units is close to unbeatable without luck, too.
I say, Genshin has a far better chance at pulling characters (even a reachable pity system). Thus far, I got every character I actively wanted as f2p (Including Kazuha C1 and Wanderer C1). But then, I mostly go for the males x3
And while Limbus hates me (Pulled 3 000 Hong Lu in a row and Meursault and Yi Sang dups, too), and don't get me started on pulling no E.G.O. (while all my friends get them left and right), I find the chance to get anything without money far easier than Age of Ishtaria. You also don't need to pull at all, because their bases are pretty strong, too
