    I'm thinking ok doing this swap for my 90 k2500. Still thinking about it since I have an lm7 sitting in my garage for one of my muscle cars. I heard the transmission bolts right on. I was going to use a 700r4 for a nova just not sure if the 4x4 version would be the same for the trucks. I assume it will and then paired up to an fitech harness and computer should make this swap easier.

      If youre going for mpg and done haul anything go with a 4.8 or 5.3. 6.0s are just slow gas hogs

    • @kennethpigg8782
      @kennethpigg8782 3 года назад

      Dawson Copeland that’s not true at all, going from that 5.7/350 with trash fuel injection to let’s say a LQ9 later model 6.0 you’ll get 16/22 with a considerable amount more power than a 5.3 or 4.8 Also add in the extra power from the 6.0 that you don’t get from the 4.8 and 5.3 and the gas cost will be less than a 5.3/4.8 because you won’t be using as much power to lug that big ass truck around with a smaller engine. There’s no replacement for displacement. I’d throw a 6.0 in it over a 4.8/5.3 everyday of the week

    So how does the 4x4 work exactly? Did you use the stock 98 tranny harness or did you use the 5.3 harness to connect to the transmission. Ive done two swaps so far, both 2wd, but I’m getting ready to do my first 4x4 swap but I can’t find consistent 4x4 swap info, I’m either looking in the the wrong places or there isn’t much info out there. I have a rare 98 crew cab short bed that I daily for work, it has the push buttons 4x4. I’m taking a paid week off in November to do my swap.

    • @EndlessWishlist
      @EndlessWishlist  3 года назад +2

      It’s easy. I used the 98 trans. This truck also has the push button 4wd. The ls computer doesn’t control 4wd. It just has 2 pins that tell it that it’s in 4wd. The ls harness plugs right into the trans and controls it this year and a couple others.

    Why even put another stock cam and it already comes with flat top. And really eBay head studs?
    Just get you some ARP

    • @EndlessWishlist
      @EndlessWishlist  4 года назад +1

      Because the 6.0 cam is bigger and it was just laying around. It didn’t come with flat tops, I put them in. And it’s my engine and I wanted eBay head studs. That’s why

      Julio Cervantes I agree why would you only put a cam with 5 more degrees of duration, and Julio is right dude, they all came with flat tops. All the 4.8 and 5.3 from 99 and up have them. I would have just reused the used head bolts over ebay China crap

      i thought the 4.8 was flat top. nice budget build man 👍

      They did not all come with flat tops early 5.3 was dished piston 4.8 flat top. Some 6.0 came dishes piston some flat tops lq4 6.0 is dished piston lq9 is flat top piston the lq9 was the higher compression hotter motor from factory

    5.3 is not an LS based engine it’s literally a iron block

    • @EndlessWishlist
      @EndlessWishlist  4 года назад +3

      It is LS based actually. It’s not a true ls aluminum block no but the swap it exactly the same. Maybe you are just missing the point.

    Your rationalization on why you didn't include the cost of the engine and other stuff you bought when you titled the video "How much did my swap cost" makes zero sense.

      Key Word: "my", meaning his swap not yours or anyone else's. 🤦
