    Aww Poopee cute. For those who dont have access to "Liquard Lead," use lead shot, which is essentially the same stuff, it might even be cheaper if you purchase it by the Kg.

    Cocker spaniels are the finest dog breed in the universe. As you know, the motto of the breed is “We Help!”. Spaniels need a job to do and I can see that yours has exactly that, and that’s a great thing: a happy spangle.

    The locos look far better now Nice you have no problems with them. I would with my layout as it has sharper than 3rd radius. Glad Merlin did not eat the spring.

    Nice tip about the lead shot for additional weight. As with most things, if you add "model railway" to the title it increases the cost. Worth looking for non-branded shot. Cheers

    About the front bogie spring, I have done the same kind of operation on the Dapol Prairie tank : I removed the spring on the rear pony truck, and the ride quality of the model went from poor to excellent.
    The magnetic couplers are a great innovation if you don't need to uncouple your wagons/coaches. I'm dreaming of a system where you can adress individually the couplers with a remote control and uncouple them anywhere you want on your layout...
    For your tender/engine coupling, it's a superb idea. I have a Bachmann WD with a broken tender/engine connector, I will certainly use your system on her.
    And thanks for the Mogul !

    First model railway video i have managed to get my wife to watch partly through! Your spaniel is a delightful companion, she particularly liked his wet nose saying hello, and then watching the trains come and go! A very well behaved and handsome dog! I watched the rest of the vid for the train couplings and V2.

    Amazing that a manufacturer would allow these to go on the shelf without being able to operate them. Shows how they view the customers, alot of collectors afterall would just never run them 😢

    I've often wondered Lewis what's the big hoo haa about having tender pick ups on mainline locos. For years Bachmann locos didn't have tender pick ups and I think their first one was the NRM City of Truro yet all the others ran just fine over dead frog points. To me it seemed that the only worry is very short wheelbase engines like 0-4-0's which may have trouble on dead frog points.
    I like the close coupling you've achieved on the coaches and wagons and are their buffers sprung?. On many steam locos from various manufacturers the tender/loco coupling is fiddly at best and I have a Jubilee where the tender spigot had snapped off when new so I use a piece of Evergreen plastic rod to make a new one. My Collett 2251 has a very basic loco/tender coupling and it works fine through multiple dead frog points with no hesitation.
    The end shot on the video seems to have your dog saying, "well come on master what are you waiting for run something".

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  2 месяца назад +1

      I agree Roy, I think if you’ve got fairly decent laid track you can get away without them. All my non tender pick up locos run just as well 👍🏻 Yes the buffers are sprung on those coaches.

    Great insight to your modifications, which brings us to the "each to him/herself" when it comes to modifying the models,i do that myself, which in a way gets less if the model is more pricey. Im speaking under correction fro here on. When the models are being developed then fabricated in the production process, i guess those involved has taken several factors into account such as how models' performance compare to that of actual trains and rolling stock. Articulation could argueably one of the critical consideration, hence the large gaps at coupling of coaches to one another as well as loco/tender coupling and other combination. On the other hand( i do it often myself) is to reduce the gaps, yet being mindful of taki. ng the curve without climbing off the tracks. So if it works we leave it at that. But whilst doing the modification and it fails persistently, it can make us realize why the models are made in this way in the first place. And i agree, the smaller gaps are certainly more appealing and realistic. Manufactures can and should look into these considerations when developing, making and testing the models as such. After all,we live in a time of far better opportunities and resources. Just my 5cnts of comment😅

    Just a caution, Lewis. Lead is very bad for children to handle. I believe it has been outlawed in shot in many places in the US. Steel shot is not quite as heavy, but will do the job. And if you have no children around your railway, adults arenot as susceptable to lead poisoning.
    When are you going to have canines represented on your railway? Are none available on your side of the pond?
    Lastly, you have greatly improved the look of your locos by shortening those drawbars!
