Very good information. May I suggest a GPS, because you can give the exact location of the injured person to search and rescue. Instead of: “the hiker is hurt by the banana tree next to the stream…” in that case the rescue team will have to look for the patient all along the trail. Carry or wear a highly visible (bright orange or bright neon lime yellow) shirt. So you can be easily detected by rescuers on the ground and by helicopter. Don’t forget to bring along good quality snacks. Good luck, have fun and stay safe. P.S: I always use two hiking sticks.
