Yohan, the primary application of this sound bar is for home theater (not music). The primary deficiency in most sound bars is a lack of bass. This unit has a 6" powered sub vs. my old 10" powered sub. Since low frequency sound waves are omni directional (vs. unidirectional as in tweeters & mid range) by placing the sub in a corner it DOES amplify the bass - making this little 6" unit seem BIGGER. Something I wanted for the booming sound in movies (explosions, etc.). I know about sound ;-)
Hi Doug, I would recommend moving the soundbar out a little bit instead of put it deep inside the media console. Current position affects the sound image.
Hey Doug, Thanks for taking the time to upload this informative review. Having seen your review, I was convinced this was the exact sound bar I need. I didn't need a hypo 5.1 setup given my lounge size. I already had a Bravia Led tv - down in Australia I ended up purchasing this unit for $480. I loved the fact that I had it setup in under 10mins. Love the finishing on the sub and sound bar. I use it in P mode and while the volume goes to 50, at 15 is more than enough for me. Thanks again!
Hi Stathis, you could either plug the Xbox into the soundbar or directly into the TV (but if you do this you must have the audio out from the TV to the soundbar). To me, the easiest way is HDMI from Xbox to sounbar.
Hi Doug….. good name, that's my sons name. Thank you for your efforts…. your video helped me to decide. After over a week of worrying this to decision death, I ordered the Sony 660 about 15 minutes ago. I love my music--so that has me excited, but for me, it is critical that I be able to hear the dialogue on movies. I should have it within 2 days. If you have changed your opinion of this unit over the time you have had it… PLEASE let me know. Thank you. Cheers…….
this is a great video, but for sastra 7 I picked up the vizio 5.1 surround bar for 299 from best buy and can say it is amazing it has 7 speakers in the sound bar alone for excellent sound separation.
I had the Energy Encores as well and loved them. but got rid of them when I moved. Those were the best 5.1 speakers for the price when they were released. Those Canadians know how to make good speakers.
Im really happy with the one i got i was debating cause of usb but you tell no difference with blue tooth folks, I had to get a sound system before i left best buy and I had been looking at them for quite some time this one stand out the most, you wont regret this purchase! :) The bass is really heavy but it's not annoyingly loud it actually sounds fantastic.
I was deciding between a Yamaha 101 and the Sony CT260...but the Sony CT660 has HDMI inputs, the others don't...it's a no brainer really. The Sony CT150 does have HDMI inputs, but its subwoofer is not wireless, it also lacks Bluetooth. Thanks for the video...and thanks to you, I just ordered the Sony CT660.
Hi TheGrand434, the soundbar does not come with an HDMI cable ... but I got 2 very nice HDMI cables off Amazon for $10. The easiest way to connect your Blu Ray (and other devices) is to connect them via HDMI to the soundbar, then one HDMI from the soundbar to the TV -- you're done :-)
Which application are you using for your music? I have the same phone. Great review and unboxing. This is making me want this for Christmas. Also, where did you purchase it from? Thanks.
I really enjoyed watching this video. Well edited and very clear -- thanks for taking the time to do this. You've sold me on getting a unit. Obviously, with just a soundbar and the wireless sub you'll never duplicate a true 5.1 setup but I don't want to hide wires. If I can reduce the tangled mess behind the tv that's a win in my book. If you wanted to add a set of Sony wireless rear speakers at some point is that possible? Does anyone know?
thx for the vid, BUT u should place the bar further, just try it, trust me, it will sound way better! and also u should try to sit closer to the tv, but thats preference
i just ordered this sound bar (should be here tomorrow).... Question: Can you use the HDMI on the sound bar to hook up Playstation? If so can you do that using the optical cable or do you have to hook the sound bar up to the tv with a HDMI cable?
I have this sound bar and sub woofer, but the sub woofer doesnt seem to be connected. when connecting the soundbar to tv with arc connection nothing comes on screen to link the subwoofer. any ideas?
Hi, I know I am 8 years late to this video but just wanted to know if this supports 4K TV and sound? @jayobi or others how does it perform compared to current speakers
hello ! i need some help regarding this sound bar..i have a philips Philips 4000 series Smart LED TV 47PFL4007H 119 cm (47") Full HD 1080p DVB-T/C with Pixel Plus HD, unfortunately the movies with DTS audio format are not supported on this TV.. does anyone know if with this sound bar, the sound of the movies with DTS audio format, will be played ??i would appreciate any kind of info and help! many thanks in advance !
Dude I have the 260 model, I'm thinking of upgrading to the 660, I wanted to know the distance of screw holes at the back as I already made holes and am hoping it's the same distance between the 260 and 660. Please let me know. Thanks
Hey Jeremy, no the tv does not need to be on. So it definitely could be a music speaker system for your phone. And to be quite honest, it would be a pretty awesome music system vs other "music systems." It has a sub for deeper bass vs other music systems (say a B&W zeppelin which is much more expensive).
Hi Doug, i'm very interested in purchasing the sony HT-CT660 Sound Bar i do have a few questions for you 1 the room i wanna put it in is about 20 feet * 18 feet * 10 feet high what that be ok ? 2. can i connect it to listen to what is showing on my regular tv ? 3. i notice in your video you play music trough your phone i have an open deck can i use it out there it's about 46 ft across and about 15 feet wide could i use it out there ? thanks for your advise in advance regards Rommel
I think in most cases you have to work with in the constraints of your home. Most peoples room are not optimized for sound. meaning you may have to put the sub in the corner because thats where the outlet is. if the room was built with the forethought such as the million dollar home theater rooms you see then yeah that is a legitimit conclusion. Ultimately a sound bar is not a perfect audio set up but it's for us that want to watch tv with out the horrible sound thats built into the flat screens
Hey, what blu-ray model u have? I have an Sony bdp-s4100 and I want to know if I can connect this soundbar to my blu-ray just with the hdmi without any sound cable? Thanks
Could anyone help me? I'm thinking of buying a HT-CT660. I don't know anything about home theaters because it will be my first time buying it, so I have a couple of questions. Do I NEED a HDMI to connect to a TV? If so, does it come with an HDMI? Also, do I need multiple HDMIs to connect my Blu-ray player to the Sound bar AND another HDMI that connects from the Sound bar to the TV? These questions are probably stupid and noobish so if you take your time to answer me, I will be grateful. Thank U!
turn the subwolfer arond(if u have a wierles one i have one) and you will se a little hole and above it it wiil say link use a small ponted tip ore anything it wiil beep.
You look like you live in a well off area. Does your local recycling company not have the required facilities to recycle styrofoam? There are many companies in the US that are now recycling styrofoam. Please look them up.
No. But, if there is an app for your smartphone that plays FM radio, you could use that app on your phone and connect your phone to the sound bar over Bluetooth. (I'm not sure if that type of app even exists since I've had zero desire to listen to FM radio for years now! I do get Sirius XM on my iPhone, though.) You could also hook up a receiver that gets FM, or an FM radio using the right connectors, to the sound bar.
Dude you know nothing about sound and sound quality. Why would you put a sub in a corner? Its gonna make the bass over power the highs and mids which makes the sound more muffled than it should be since corners tend trap up all the bass and amplify it. Also why did you put the bar so low? Buy a better tv stand/table so that you can bring the bar up to ear level. This is coming from a music producer. Just giving some advice

Hi Sastra7, thanks for your comments! The video dialogue comes through very well -- it handles games, movies, music just fine. Hope this helps.
this is a great video, but for sastra 7 I picked up the vizio 5.1 surround bar for 299 from best buy and can say it is amazing it has 7 speakers in the sound bar alone for excellent sound separation.

Is there a way to pump up the subs volume?

Thanks for the detailed review. Your room has a lot of echo though. Does this do justice?
hey man could you do a video on how to connect the subwoofer?
thx for the vid, BUT u should place the bar further, just try it, trust me, it will sound way better! and also u should try to sit closer to the tv, but thats preference
Nice review! I'm considering one of these to replace my massive 5.1 system. I already have a ct-100 so I kind of know what to expect.
Great demo and review thanks!!
You did great job here thanks.

Any problems?

Does the TV need to be on for the blutooth to work. I am thinking about using it as a music speaker for my phone, in my bedroom.

Yes, you can.

Hi. Where a new video???
dat shirt with dose shorts. Awesome!!!
I have an Xbox One. So do you hook up your game console directly to the sound bar ?
hell no
Actually yes you do.
Yes, the best method is to connect directly into soundbar (all sources) then single connection from soundbar to TV.
You look like you live in a well off area. Does your local recycling company not have the required facilities to recycle styrofoam? There are many companies in the US that are now recycling styrofoam. Please look them up.
Good review. Greetings from Colombia.
Great video and review. Thanks..!!
Thx you very much! You have made my choice!)
i like it a lot so how does this work on a ps4 ? ??
Bluetooth it to the PS4
thanks so much, really helpful
Thanks for this review.
You're welcome!
Does it play regular FM Radio?
No. But, if there is an app for your smartphone that plays FM radio, you could use that app on your phone and connect your phone to the sound bar over Bluetooth. (I'm not sure if that type of app even exists since I've had zero desire to listen to FM radio for years now! I do get Sirius XM on my iPhone, though.) You can get the tune in radio app
Everything Sony but Xbox????
Thanks for the video!!!
Lol...hook it up...way to breeze right by the wireless subwoofer connection to the soundbar
this video is an advert for jayobi
It's both ... A showcase of a cool soundbar and I promote my free job search website (that has helped over 33,000 people in 111 countries).
Oh, by the way. Don't ever mix plaid with stripes.
how much in malaysia value ?
is it wall mountable ?
Yes, it has keyholes for wall mounting.
Tenacious
good review thanks
I think your old sound system is better than this one
Звук в хате как из толчка
xbox 360 XD
you did not show how to hook it up get right next time
Clearly you have never used HDMI before. He showed the cable ports, would you like him to draw you a picture of the back of your tv for you?
