If you run the lead rope down the right side of the calf's body and behind her backside, over the tail (NOT under the tail), and then along the left side and back through the halter, when you pull on the rope, she will step forward, away from the backside pressure. In the beginning, one step or even just moving one front hoof forward is enough. Pause and give her praise. Then repeat. Only try to accomplish a little during each training time. Give her time to rest and think. Above all, don't teach her to instinctively pull back against halter pressure. When she learns that you simply want her to walk along, you will no longer need to put the rope around her body. The kids will find that kind, gentle, consistent use of the rope will win Daisy over. Right now she is confused.
There's a first time for everything! So Congratulations Holt family farm and homestead surely this event was a bit nerv racking but hopefully the most difficult part is over and the experience makes things so much easier from this point on. What a beautiful new addition to the Farm.
Gentle, short and often training is best with babies. She’ll start to avoid people coming at her with a rope if there’s too much rodeo and force. She’s a beautiful calf!
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone....including momma cow ! She did a great job. Too bad the kiddos weren't up for the birth. I would have loved to hear the little one's remarks ! hahahaha
Gma Kathy here. Jump Rope City - love this! Daisy Cheyenne - welcome to the wonderful Holt World! One push - wow - Maggie, you're a champ. And Ben, Bri, Maliya and Maebel - thank you for a charming story!❤
Guys, I know this is late but never ever trust a cow with a newborn calf, they are so protective no matter how quiet they seem to be, it is so so dangerous around them, with dogs or little kids, way more people get injured from cow attacks than bull attacks
Congrats on your new calf. Your farm looks amazing, and the cow barn is fantastic.
A reminder, how beautiful life is. Thank you Holt family for sharing. God bless.❤

Congrats guys. Can’t imagine what this will bring to your farm. Such a commodity to have fresh milk on the farm. Barn looks awesome Ben well done!
I like the retaining wall that was put up behind the house. :)
She's a lovely frisky girl! Glad all went well! Now you're experienced! Loved the jumping rope lessons!
Tell your girls never to put the rope around and around there hand If the calf decide to run they are pulled and kicked by it , stay safe
Thanks 😊
