    For me intermitting fasting and 2 meals a day worked amazing, lost so much weight, but the health benefits are outstanding for me, no more pain and finally beat the menopause stubborn fat!

    Loved this video. I am 70 and tried all sorts of diets back in the day. Hated Weight Watchers, groups, and diets that made no sense. Refuse to weigh myself, even to this day. But, I know the calorie count of everything and am the boss of me. Stubborn, but learned about nutrition for my own sake, and it works for me. Carla, you have the best of friends, happy you are keeping them. 😊

    That's why I find eating twice a day only is what works for me - I can be flexible so if I want to go out for lunch I skip breakfast and vice versa. The only rules I stick to are no snacking between meals and nothing after 8.00 in the evening. The bottom line though is that if we're not losing weight or at least maintaining it we have to be taking in more food than our body is utilising. The easiest way forward then in my opinion is just to reduce overall portion size - pretty simple to use a smaller bowl or plate. Good luck with finding YOUR way.

    Ive been fasting 16 8 for the last 3 months. I do 12 to 8 and i thought i could never miss breakfast or not eat after 8 . But i found it easy really enjoy it and feel better for it x

    Both of you talk so much sense!!... I did slimming World on and off for years... never enjoyed doing it and felt so restricted!..
    Then I discovered calorie counting and nutracheck...which is brilliant!.. I am doing well on it... slow going but I enjoy doing calorie counting... I am really enjoying your videos... thankyou so much ❤

    Some clubs can be toxic. Currently eating more than ever and still losing. I’m now a diabetic and using insulin. I now believe I was diabetic as a child due to slight issues and other issues too. Sweetener is not a good idea and many people have issues. I was forced to go ww, Rosemary clonnely - exercise class and diet club and slimming world. Never again. My current diet is very very limited fruit and veggies, no sweetener and drinking Coca Cola. My blood sugar are less than 10 and within 6 to 8 most days. There are also many slim individuals joining who don’t need to lose weight but probably suffering from eating disorders like my toxic mother

    Wow Tammy you did so well. Nice to see you both on here. I need to lose weight I'm obese and don't find it easy. I do calorie counting when I diet. I did manage to lose 4 stone. Put it all back on and more. My knees are suffering terribly. I found this quite encouraging. Might have another go. X

    January 1st, I weighed 18.7 stones, now at 16.8 stones goofing up all of February and half of March. I’m American. I joined quite a few Slimming World Facebook groups, member online. Had lost 5 stones in the past, gained almost all of it back. So nearly 2 stones down.
    You know, it is a very bland diet if you eat lots of spicy, fatty, sugary food. I’m 65 years old. I turned 65 in January. My decision was this, which foods are ‘torturing’ me. The ones that are giving me weight gain and enticing me. Luring me. I realized 2 main things. Fast food/junk food. In that first month of January, 13 lbs. of water weight cane off. Got myself in a heap of trouble in February and 1/2 of March. The Syns. My portions were throttling down into reasonable portion sizes but I have had to say no to the sweets, crisps, all junk foods and no fast foods. I’m a fast food junkie. I thought to myself you must eat at home and decide, remain overweight or get your weight down so things are easier, calmer and more comfortable in general. So I got good and fed up. As written, sticking to SW. Weight Watchers is a no. I either maintain or gain on it. Air popped popcorn is a disaster. Speed fruits and veg, 1/2 the plate and some free and protein. I’m a hearty eater. I have had to cut out not cut down with that other food. It will only tease me and derail.

    Bolognese the size of Aberdeen had me chuckling, that is me! You’re spot on, when I’ve got to the point of weight gain that I need intervention, I don’t know what I need vs what I want. At that point I need strictness and rules, and self discretion is just going to make me abuse it even though it’s myself I’m cheating, 100% with you on calorie counting being the best option for me. I understand it’s not for everyone and can make some people undereat or develop bad relationships with food but for me it’s almost a challenge to enjoy the foods I eat in a day overall while sticking within a rigid limit.
    As you’ve said we’re all different and different things work for different people so let’s not judge each other on the how but support each other in the achievements, well done to both of you, an excellent beginning to your journeys! 🎉

    So true that different diets work for different people.. I lost 7 st on keto thought I'd keep it down and live calorie controlled, nope I can not do that.. one little sweet turns to the whole pack 😂 then oh well order a takeaway start again tomorrow.. 2 stone on now but back on keto

    What a great video, Carla. I related to everything you both discussed. Congratulations on your losses. I think remembering that some of us need to lose weight for health reasons and not only for how we look is very important. It is surprising how much even a small weight loss can help the knees etc. Looking forward to seeing how you both do.

    Wow, you both are doing so well. I've just realised that although I might be eating a 57 calories of yogurt it's got 7.5grams of flipping sugar!!!!!!! So, I'm sure you check numbers, the sugar content in every food is crazy and I now check how much sugar is in the food I eat and it's crazy.

    I’m glad your back my little tip I’ve started doing is giving myself step targets I started at 2000 and increase every week but I do a average day because some days I get more done other days I don’t move I’ve have been poorly 21/2years and this time last year couldn’t walk on my foot for 8months it was hideous and I have Two dogs felt terrible leaving the walking for my husband. I’m up and about now but giving myself little targets really helps plus I hate the gym 😂 good luck so happy your back on it ❤❤❤❤

    Hi Carla & Tammy I started Carnivore in Feb for health issues and weight loss. I haven't been hungry once and so far its working for me. Very controversial I know but I'm going to keep going I feel so much better x

      I’ve been carnivore for 8 months and easiest lifestyle to stick to as you never feel hungry.
      Check out the Glucose Goddess, she has some easy every day tips on reducing glucose spikes which can help with weight loss.

    I'm 72 and been to every slimming club I could find, I've lost a couple of persons in the past, put it all back on plus more. It took to being in my 60's when I stopped constantly thinking about food and my weight has dropped without dieting, I'm still over weight but not as much.
    BTW I may be the only person who was banned from Weight Watchers because I was a bad influence !!

    Thanks for that lovely chat. What you and Tammy spoke about has made a lot of sense. I cal count and have been very slack since Oct last year, so I decided in April, getting back on track and that has been really hard, but l have put on weight that I'm uncomfortable in my clothes so it's buy new clothes or lose weight.     It’s not my way to judge how others do things. We are adults we all choose our own way. Personally calorie counting doesn’t work for me as it encourages me to lean on ready made manufactured products. Pizza sweets McDonald’s pies etc etc. Eating this way is a trigger. Yes I can have X number of calories but it tends to be u healthy stuff “junk”. Weight watchers food is delicious fresh satisfying etc. However I have lost and gained so much weight over the last 40 years. I’m now the heaviest I’ve been and have accepted I cannot make any diet a change for life. I’ve realised it has to be a Lifestyle change for LIFE. I have wasted 40 years and totally changed my body shape to this. When I started slimming I wasn’t fat. One of my life’s regrets is I started slimming in the first place. If only I could talk to my 20 year old self how things would have been different.

    Slimming groups rely on repeat customers, something for everyone to consider. Thanks Carla for explaining the issues for the morbidly obese, the eat less move more advice is unhelpful, it is a life long issue which only those who suffer will understand. I agree with the calorie counting, I try to stick with this. I 'needed' to eat some cookies last night so had toast for tea to save the calories. Yes, not nutirtionally great but I kept in my daily calories. Good luck both of you :)

    Great video and helpful tips from both of you - keep going. My husband and I both used Nutracheck some years ago and it was the only thing that worked - he lost over 4 stone and I lost 3 but we've both put it back on since lockdown and retirement - we need to get motivated again so this might do just that 😃

    Totally hear you both….Slimming World never worked for me and it took me many years to come to that conclusion Only plan which “worked” for me was lighter life where I lived on shakes for 6 months and lost 5 stone but that was expensive and unsustainable and I soon put all the weight back on So didn’t work for me really
    I haven’t found the right way for me and am not in the right head space to start a weight loss journey
    Well done to both of you for sitting in front of us and sharing your thoughts and feelings You are both so brave thank you

    I need to motivate myself. Like you Carla, I’m in pain now with my weight etc… I’m never going to be thin I just want to be more comfortable in my body and mobility. But I find it so hard as I know I comfort eat and often my emotions are all over the place so ‘food’ comforts me. It’s hard. Xx

    Hi Carla, I found whenever I would get together with friends it was always at a restaurant. We all wanted to lose weight so we change our meet up places and instead of eating we would go for a coffee, walks or shopping (including window shopping). We would still get together at a restaurant but only as a treat. It not only saved us money but we ate less and moved more.

    Ok, I said it before and I'm going to say it again! PLEASE PLEASE take some measurements! Because this is about getting smaller, not just what you weigh. And inevitably, the day will come when you feel smaller, but the scales are not backing that up. This is true for everyone, but especially so for anyone with water retention.

    Morning carla,really good to see Tammy talking with you im sure both of you together will be able to help each other and seeing how we all are different in how we lose weight its a very personal thing i lost 2stone last year then put a stone back on and my clothes stoped fitting me but i have started again iv lost 5lb first week which i no its water but im coming along with you the thing is to keep going really enjoyed this vlog was so good to listen to you both ❤😊x

    Hi Carla, I’ve been following you for a while now but never commented, really enjoy your channel. Found this video really interesting as an ex slimming world member. It did work for me and I got to target but just never went back after Covid hit .I have put my weight back on and keep saying I’m going to cut down on my eating. I have quite a healthy diet but I think now it’s portion sizes I need to get my head round . I am just downloading a calorie counting app,😄x

    I have given up chocolate, although I’m not usually in control of food. This gives me a feeling of achievement and control. I did it for my teeth though, needing three caps. I am now in control of my food Xx

    Carla, I have hovered around your channel for some time now and this is my take on it all. I had to recondition my brain to not see fats as bad - good fats. I was low calorie this and that, calorie counting for years as I thought it was right, cut the fat of the meat etc. I kept putting on weight and couldn't find out why as I had never been a bonny lass . 3 years ago, after a diagnosis I went low carb and now practically carnivore and the weight just came off. I work out 4 times a week but others don't and still lose the weight, I do it for my mental health also. I don't get hungry as the good fats have filled me up. What works for one person may not work for the other, its life and whatever works for you and Tammy works for you and Tammy. You are both doing smashing and its not a race but a marathon 💋

    Hi Carla and tammy I did slimming world in 2018 it never worked for me I was uneasy about talking about my week the group and the leader made me feel so small I never went back again ❤

    I am serial SW joiner too in fact rejoined again a few months ago knowing that I would be back calorie counting along side. I lost 4 stone with SW about 6 years ago which was lovely but as soon as I started introducing food that I missed It was a slippery slope. I am an emotional eater and any little stressful of emotional situation can send me off for a biscuit! I also struggle with IBS and SW used to exacerbate that, especially all the tomato based meals and loads of vegetables. If I had a big flare up I could be back to eating white bread and farleys rusks for a month to get my stomach right again. So I had to be really careful. So why did I rejoin again….because in my brain it worked once! We are all different, our likes and dislikes, feelings and emotions and how we react to any of those factors. I have always said for me it’s not what goes into my mouth that’s the problem but what goes on in my head! I have willpower..I gave up smoking.. but we have to eat don’t we and for me when I am not focused that’s it. I am also like you I hated group sessions. I also started to resent if people lost after eating fish and chips and chocolate all week and I had lived on salad for 7 days! And I am not a resentful person. I am not good at group anything. At the end of the day we are all doing our best and we have to do what is best for us. Good luck to you Carla. I shall be continuing my ‘journey’ blinkin hate that phrase, along side yours, feeling your ups and downs along with my own. But I will never say…’have you tried’! 😻🙏❤️
