Deep Dive: RECCO Technology

RECCO is a two-part system composed of a detector and a passive reflector integrated into outdoor clothing and gear. This rescue technology is used by organized rescue teams as an additional tool to more quickly locate people lost or hurt in the outdoors. Learn how and where RECCO is used and why being searchable can help rescuers reduce the amount of time search and rescue incidents require.
Presenter: Daniel ”Howie” Howlett is the director of training and technical support for RECCO in North America. Howie has been with RECCO since 1999. Until a few years back, he split his time between Montana and Utah, where he worked as an avalanche specialist at the Alta Ski area since 1979.
