American Horror Story is one of the most watched programs on TV right now, and one thing the show likes to do is base characters in the show on real life people. So here are five notorious serial killers who have inspired characters in the show, from Jefferey Dahmer, the deranged serial killer who injected acid into some of his victims brains, to Aileen Wuornos, the lady who had a traumatic childhood and went on to kill seven men. She was executed in October 2002, the tenth woman in the US to be executed since 1976.

His accomplices were Charles Ng and Leonard's wife (can't remember her name). The trio were very sadistic psychopaths. If you like crime documentaries, which I can tell you do bc you're on this channel, you should look him up on youtube.

little caesars if you watch Criminal Minds, which I do, there's a part towards the end of the beginning credits where there's many rows with photos of serial killers throughout history & the moment I realized I could new everyone on those rows I thought to myself I must have a problem!!.. bc there has to be at least 50 of them when the rows all come together at the end of the opening credits... Thank Goodness for the internet so I Know I'm not alone!!

It isn't mentioned here, but according to the book "Devil In The White City" (which I recommend, though it is a bit dry), one reason Holmes had built the hotel and was able to kill so many without detection is that he did so right down the street from The Chicago World's Fair in 1892-94. The book actually covers both events in their entirety and the World's Fair part is really interesting, too. Because of the World's Fair, MANY people were converging on the city and every hotel was always full. In short, there was just too much going on for anyone to notice.
There were all people from out of town.
I've read that book, it's an awesome read. The author is incredible at making history as compelling and fascinating as if it was fiction.

All of these murders were definitely evil but (I feel bad even for saying this) Aileen was definitely traumatized by all she had gone through with men. I think something snapped. She's the only one on here that only shot and killed them. No weird obsession with their bodies or anything. It's definitely a shame for all the victims no matter the circumstance.
+Samantha Jeffrey I totally see here you're coming from. Although, it doesn't justify her crimes, you can almost understand why she killed them. I feel terrible for her childhood, for no child should ever have to go through what she did. She just hated men.
Amanda Castillo I agree, no child should ever experience such traumatic and violent start to their life, she didn't stand a chance. She had a horrible childhood, her teenage years were horrible and her adult life was horrible. I felt bad for her because up until she was executed, everyone around her took advantage of her, from her pedophile father to the last reporters that interviewed her. She was quoted saying that she had hate crawling through her veins, her victims never stood a chance either, she hated them even before she met them.
That justifies blaming all men? Imagine me saying about some racist killer who was a victim of black crime "i can understand why he killed black people, so horrible for him to go through that". Collectively blaming a group of people is wrong.

The guy said he killed Dahmer because he would make fake limbs with his food and pour ketchup on it to simulate blood while mocking the other inmates. And it's been said that Jeffrey was making racist remarks to the African American inmates. But yes, his death is quite ironic.
It's kind of disappointing that only season 5 characters were featured. :(

also Mysterious5, most serial killers are born that way. Although most of them had terrible childhoods, not all did. They were just born to kill, because usually they're either a sociopath, b psychopath or c both along with a different brain development as mentioned above. Combine both of those things you basically have a bomb about to go off.
(I'm no criminologist by any means but I've been researching serial killers for a long time.)
Please note most of the murders in this video are sex murders, besides Bathory, and Holmes, which is a whole different ballpark. (although you could argue Aileen doesn't fit into that category as well but I consider her to be apart of it because she did kill John)

There's a great book about H.H. Holmes called "Devil in the White City" that I read for my AP History class and wrote an essay on it. I highly recommend it !
Ahs is the only show that brings up all the infamous Serial killers,and as a person who's obsessed with serial killers & their lives I love these Ahs references. Making Ahs one of my Fav shows.

Wurnos' story is so sad. Her childhood was traumatic (much more happened than what was touched on in this video). I do wonder what would have become of her had her upbringing been different. For some killers I don't think it makes a difference but maybe it could have for her.
In AHS 1984, a character is actually Richard Ramirez. He is one of the main characters and they did it really well. and the way they introduced him was really cool, and it was also cool because he sticks through the whole season.

I never watched AHS until recently, my husband wanted to rewatch it, and we watched it together. He's not American, so he didn't really know about all of these true people and events that these were based on. I was telling him the way way through about them. I enjoyed the show way more than I thought I would!

One of the characters in the Hostel 2 movie had inspiration from the Countess as well. The scene where the woman kills the lady hung upside down and bathed in her blood was the direct inspiration

Number 5: I believe that H.H. Holmes was also Jack the Ripper. He was in London at the time of the murders plus he went to college to be a doctor and he was top of his class. Check it out an do some research on him you would come to the same conclusion that he was in fact Jack the Ripper.

Wineville is now called Mira Loma, California. My grandparents lived there and my Folkorico group performed at the wine vineyard where this happened. We didn't know the history at the time we preformed (90s)

Winevile is now known as riverside, they changed the name winevile to riverside because they were embarressed to keep the name. the place where the chicken coop murders happened was tore down and there is now a target built over it. i know this because i live here and live right by that target. growing up in riverside, this story is passed on a lot
