Eddie, this is for you ♥
Thanks to strangerwriters on twitter for sharing the videos!
Long live Eddie Munson
The non-metal heads would say he made many mistakes. The real metal heads would applaud him on such a great job
total original comment
Damn right!
what else to say.....nothing.
Before I started playing guitar I knocked his cover. Now I applaud it. Not because of the classic "it's harder than it looks", it was a pretty simple riff to learn. But I appreciate his version as a fellow artist now
Wahoo ✌️
We came for Stranger Things, we stayed for Eddie Munson, we remain for Joseph Quinn.
YESSSSSSSS
💯
Couldn't have said it better myself!!!
💯 and also get this man his wig back, people !
I stayed for Max and Dustin
people mention his mistakes, but this is not for a music performance. He’s going over the scene they would eventually shoot. You can see him looking off camera to a mirror or monitor or something. Other than that he does play the song as you can see. They used Aiden Fisher to film the solo closeups during shoot. And Rob Trujillo’s son recorded the guitar overdubs used for the final episode.
Honestly people should just respect he learnt most of the song to make it look authentic. A lot of other actors would just use a double to do it
uuhm ok, there is only three comments bro....who r these
'people" u speak of
@@veronicamiller4817 there’s another video posted before that was a shorter version. A few of the comments were critiquing his playing.
@@mausilw oooh ok cool..
I don't fucking care for him mistakes, I love it
This dude killed it. As a seasoned, touring musician I can say that mistakes are part of the job. This song is a bitch to play perfectly that even Metallica messes up. If you want perfection, stick to the studio. My dude killed it.
Not to mention the studio was so hard for them to play they played it slowed down and just sped it up in post.
There's mistakes and there's basic issues with timing. You say you're a seasoned touring musician and that mistakes is part of the job. I've toured as a full time job for most of my life. Not only isn't mistakes a part of the job, doing it perfect becomes boring. Lars Ulrich is weird because he is maybe the worst drummer to ever be in such a sucsessful band. He totally deserves credit though for making it work though, but it would neeeeeever have worked without major producers etc dealing with that stuff.
I just couldn't even imagine someone I work with saying this song is hard to play. The only thing would be how Lars is so bad that some of it is just "off" in a weird way. Lars is maybe the worst drummer in rock history. He's so bad that it's weird
@Aegon シ yea. What does that have to do with anything? I never promoted myself on RUclips.
@Aegon シ lol what does that have to do with anything? Stupid comment. They shouldn't let minors comment on youtube
Hell even BTBAM messes up selkies when playing live, that solo is one of the greatest of all time personally
Master of puppets is considered an advanced song. For those pointing out the mistakes he’s playing an 8th note, containing all palm-muted downstrokes at 210bpm which is very hard. Not to mention the spider riff. If you can play it that’s awesome but don’t say it’s easy because it’s definitely not!
it isnt advanced lol

@@yadierpagan3601 He risked his life to save a town that hated him.
No he didn’t. It made no sense why he sacrafised he legit could have gone with Dustin and the whole group would have been fine anyways. His death was pointless but he probably didn’t even die since he said he’s coming back next season
@@sniper8560 He changed his mind going with Dustin because he realized he's been running. Instead of running he wanted to be a hero. He had the group saved a town that thought he was a serial killer. He's probably saying he's going to be back to please everyone that keeps asking he's probably tired of hearing it.
Not one so-called guitar expert has a right to criticize Joe Quinn's playing technique. The guy was not a regular player and what he learned with such an advanced song in such a short time is to be admired. If he wanted to, he could become a fantastic player with the skills shown here. Hope he does.
Advanced? 🤣 okay maybe to the non musician but most guitar players if you asked them to make a list of the first 15 songs theyve learned this is on there just because the bpm is higher doesnt make it harder im not ragging on you just figured id let you know about the hating personally i think its cool i dont watch the show or like metallica kudos to him for doing it
@@yourfavcodplayer33 sure people learn certain riffs of the song early on, but they cannot play it at its normal bpm with all downstrokes. I'm not interested in an arguement I just want to let you know that this song is 100% an advanced song you need skill and stamina to play this song
@@mythicice2353 look im gonna be nice no normal guitar player plays with just downstrokes only amateur tick tock players consider this hard or difficult
Im gonna let you in on a little secret (YOU CANNOT PLAY IT WITH JUST DOWNSTROKES) its impossible that would be like saying i can play dick dale with just downstrokes or when dragonforce released through the fire and flames it wasnt chopped up into takes(or sped up) or milli vanilli actually sang thier grammy winning songs plus look it up google agrees 5-6 difficulty this isnt fudging cliffs of dover k.
More the question of stamina
The amount of downpick in this song is insane
@@yourfavcodplayer33 lol most beginners think they can play Puppets properly
But many don't play it in time
People complaining about his mistakes, he doesn’t need to play it perfectly, he needs to look like he’s playing it when he’ll be on set. That’s a huge difference.
Exactly! He was just rehearsing his movements to make it look more real, why si people hating so much?...any ways well done Joseph 🤟
He is doing exactly what MJ Fox did in Back to the Future, what Ralph Macchio did in Crossroads. Look how iconic those scenes are.
It speaks volumes about his character and his dedication to his craft that he put in so much time and effort to learn such a difficult song in order to add authenticity to a scene.
He plays it with attitude also, as it should be.
Most actors would rely on a double and be done with it.
he's not any better than an actor that wouldn't waste his time learning something that he doesn't have interest in
all the non-metalheads don't realize how hard it is to play this song without any mistakes
He legit had a jam session with Metallica and they approved of his skill. That’s all I need to fucking hear. Rock on bro 🤘
Exactly
Fuck yeah they did! They were just as excited to meet him as he was to meet them! If the band that wrote the song in the first place approves of his performance, everyone else can go sit on a cactus.
To the people who pointed out his mistakes, please upload your cover to this song. Thank you.
Fanchen 2.0?
Also this is practice, it's not the finished product. I don't see how people expect someone to make zero mistakes when practicing a song.

I really appreciate that as an actor, he learned to play it when he really didn't have to. It added a lot to the scene
The fact that he learned that much for a "short" scene 🙌
It’ll go down as the most iconic scene in ST I think🤘🏻
That's why I admire his dedication and his skills to actually learn it.. and that 'short' scene was the best scene of the Season... so it was worth it

The fact that he took the time to learn the song just makes me love and appreciate that final scene so much more.
I’m a musician (not guitar) and I give him major props. Playing any instrument to anything close to proficiency is HARD. He sounds great.
You gotta respect the fact that he is using ALL DOWNPICKING the entire time he's playing! Very hard to do. That's the sign of a true guitar-playing Metallica fan! Mad props to Joseph Quinn/Eddie Munson. 🤘🤘 Also, the BC Rich doesn't look like the highest quality guitar out there. That would explain the tuning instability and intonation issues during that behind the scenes performance. Can't fault him there. He doesn't have a James Hetfield's high-end ESP guitar or Hetfield's guitar tech to set up the instrument to play perfectly. You can tell Joseph put in the time with this song. Well done man! Respect!
The issues aren't just the guitar lmao... He fucked it up several times. You can literally see him hitting the wrong power chord and them muting by accident while he switches to the right one. He just isn't a good player and barely knows the right notes. LOL with your logic you need a high end guitar to play the right chord?

Actually being able to play guitar, it’s so refreshing when you see an actor actually playing the right chords and notes and not faking it.
You can tell just how dedicated he is to his work. Learning such a difficult song for a short scene is real talent. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for him and his career!
When I was watching the show I noticed he was actually playing it.. as far was finger movements and you can tell when someone is actually playing, they have this look in their face like their in the zone. So learning he actually learned to play the song and solo amazed me. He killed it..
Even though people mention his mistakes, you have to admit he still played pretty well.
And this was also a practice scene so obviously he improved leading into the final cut
Considering he's an actor not a musician, I'm sure james hetfield is probably a not very good actor

The fact that he actually learned and mastered the song to be able to play it for his scene shows his dedication
I desperately need Netflix/ST to release the full cut of Joseph Quinn's solo, I need to see more than just the bits and pieces we get in the actual scene in the show
Joseph Quinn as Eddie made me swell with pride in regards to bringing metal to mainstream modern day life. Dude, thank you for doing such an awesome job of getting today's youth into what could arguably been the medium that shaped who I am today... Forever metal...
The thing is he looks like a high school math teacher nearing the end of his 2nd year of teaching and then he comes out with this
I could tell he was actually playing it when i saw the episode, or at least fingering the notes more or less properly.
I can't believe he went from this to actually jamming with Metallica and meeting them and with a signed guitar as a gift. Joe Quinn living his best life truly so cool of him to learn this song for a "short" scene casue he wanted to do it justice and for it to look as good and realistic as possible even if it's juts for TV show.
You can tell he really made Metallica proud! When he met them a Lola palooza. As they told him "Thank you for doing it justice!" So glad they signed a replica of the guitar for him.
Big ups to Joe Quinn , man! Glad he finally reached the accolades he wanted with this role! Eddie was BAD ASS!!!
Did y’all know, both Stranger Things and in this video, As soon as Joseph started playing Master Of Puppets, he was holding the guitar up! You can see it here 0:00, see how as soon as he was pulling his first string, the guitar was being held up and in stranger things, after he says “Chrissy, this is for you!”
OKAY CAN WE JUST GIVE APPLAUD TO JOE EATING THAT WHOLE SONG Up?
For AN ACTOR that's expected to fake expressions and mannerisms, he did it and covered the extra mile more than 2 times.
It's as real as it can get and he made it through.

I LOVE seeing musicians really get into it. Granted, music isn’t his career but I’d argue anyone who’s taken the time to study and make music in any form is a musician. Anyhow, I just love seeing people really get into it and their bodies start to immerse into the whole thing. Mistakes, no mistakes, I just love seeing it
If this looks easy to play, it means that he is nailing it!
Omg what? That was him playing in the series? Tot it was dubbed. Foooork. Respect meter just went through the roof for this guy.
He said he’s not a metal guitarist like I’ll be honest this is one of the first metal songs I ever learned the hole thing and it took me forever it’s a hard song to play I’m 37 years old now and I got rid of all my electric guitars and now I have a Really expensive Martin and I play nothing but country music now and blues I feel like I could still play master of puppets but I know I couldn’t do it right away I would need to practice I haven’t played this song in probably 10 years Been playing guitar probably 25 years you’re going to make mistakes not everyone is perfect but I will admit a lot of guitarist are assholes and will sit there and say oh I’m so good at this I’m so good at that I guarantee if you didn’t play this song for even a year you would still need to practice it to get it right again I give him props for learning a song it’s not that easy at all he’s doing good

People are too critical.
So what if he’s making mistakes? I’m classically trained in guitar and I make mistakes a lot when practicing metal.
I still have yet to get the entire master of puppets solo and I’ve been practicing the entire song for a few years.
I’m not going to seriously judge another guitarist for making mistakes, unless they’re the type of professional to actually be held to that standard.
If the lead guitarist from Rings of Saturn made mistakes like this, it would be a totally different story
