Inspector Gadget is a 1999 live-action science fiction action-comedy loosely based on the 1983 animated cartoon series Inspector Gadget. It starred Matthew Broderick as the title character, along with Rupert Everett as Dr. Claw, Michelle Trachtenberg as Penny, and Dabney Coleman as Chief Quimby. Two new characters were introduced, Brenda Bradford (played by Joely Fisher) and the Gadgetmobile (voiced by D. L. Hughley). The film tells the story of how Inspector Gadget and Dr. Claw came to be in the cartoon.
The film was produced by Caravan Pictures and DIC Entertainment and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It was filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Los Angeles, California, with the ice castle-like main tower of Pittsburgh's PPG Place playing a central role. This was the last film produced by Caravan Pictures before it absorbed into Spyglass Entertainment. Its also the third film ever to have Matthew Broderick and Andy Dick
The film was followed by the 2003 direct-to-video sequel Inspector Gadget 2.

When I was a kid, I was excited about the Inspector Gadget toys when it came to McDonald’s back in 1999, but now I have all 8 of them. I got them at a retro toy store near me instead of ordering them online.
If i remember correctly, the green light on the leg would actually cast an image on the wall in the dark. I had the leg, grabby hand, and chest piece as a kid. Never could get the full set tho
back when McDonald's had toys that were actual toys...
Yea
Tro cer definitely
Tro cer ikr
Tro cer
yeah, and now all we have are little car toys that you put stickers on
Tro cer ii
Best happy meal toys ever, I also remember not finding the whole set as a kid, they don't make toys for mcdonalds like these anymore.
1man1epictv u
Oh man, I collected the whole set of this as a kid, dragged my parents around to every McDonalds to find them all :P I think I still have them somewhere!! This brings back memories...
Me in 1999 with Inspector Gadget: "Wow 😮, I can't wait to assemble this figure! This is awesome!"
Me 20 years later with Inspector Gadget: "Brown bricks!" 😂
He never extended the grabber arm!
Ik right frustrated me to
Yeah, what the heck?
I can say back in the 90's fast food toys was the best toys that I had
I had this!! I spent the entire time they were selling these collecting them all! Definitely a nostalgia moment!
This brings me back as a youngun. The grabbing arm was nice to eat french fries with -- no greasy fingers to be had at all, lol. They sure don't make 'em like this anymore...
Yes,true
but the arm grabber got greasy right lol
Yeah but I enjoy licking the salt off my fingers.
probably the only toy series that I actually collected all the toys for
This has to be one of their most ingenious schemes ever, a toy in 8 parts that any kid would be rabid for.
I was lucky to collect all of these as a kid.
i had this when I was still a kid... time flies so fast
Do you have the full set? :o
+Kiwi Sparkle Yes, sadly I left them on my aunt's house and I never saw it again.. T^T
Where Is It Now
Came across the super soaker arm and a leg I believe as a kid… still was fascinated with those pieces
Crazy, everyone in my class had the left arm - we stopped by Mc Donalds during a class trip and that was the toy of the week. I'm pretty sure I had the wrist watch, and while it could fit my wrist the plastic band was so stiff it was painful to get on and off. And of course there was that one kid who had the whole thing because their parents took them out to eat way too often. I kinda still want a complete one for no reason in particular, funny because I AM NOW AN ADULT that's a possibility.
Andrew C They give you all the same toy
I put on so much weight as a kid from buying Happy Meals just to get these toys, lol.
You cut out number 4 one of the legs
It's funny that one of Disney's worst movies ever spawned off one of the best Happy Meal toy promotions ever!
I enjoy the movie. It's a fun watch
Omg this is a trip down memory lane. My childhood was waking up grabbing my iPad to watch this.
You forget #4 in the set called leg tool.
I wanted this whole set so bad😪
eBay
I remember as a kid I would come here every week or everyday I can just to collect the whole toy. I finally got all his parts but lost him over the years
Fun to see these again! I got the first of these toys and played
the "NEW" Sega Dreamcast at a local Hollywood Video. A very fun week indeed!
I still have all 8 fully assembled on my shelf! But I think he
missed his #4. The two function leg, it's a screwdriver/pliers. But still a great nostalgic video! I enjoyed it. :)
Came here for sentimentality. The secret communicator was my favorite as a kid. Thanks for the video! Loved hearing the sounds.
I desperately wanted this in its entirety when I was a kid. I had like 5+ arms and freakin legs, the hat, and 3+ watches. Never got it. What a wasted childhood. Lmao
These toys actually made me excited for this movie. My neighbor actually collected all the parts and it was so fun.
Its so funny my daughter was watching this... I had the entire set... my mom worked at McDonald's when I was a kid and she hooked me up....
Pretty sure I just got the leg for this toy set. Most of us couldn't get a happy meal every day, so we were sorta screwed.
My goodness I remember wanting to go to mcdonalds everyday to get every piece.. unsuccessful :/ to this day I have only seen one complete inspector gadget
A girl that lives next door to my grandma named Jessica, had these toys, and she put them all together.
I still have this set myself. I was a happymeal toy hoarded for a while until they started piling up. Now i mostly seek out the toys that have the coolest gimmicks and characters
I think this was by far the best toys mcdonalds EVER put out
Matthew Broderick: This movie is a masterpiece and you know it!
Very awesome!! All I remember having as a child were the left leg and right arm. Never completed the set.
I had that kind long time ago, I was wondering why I only got a Leg in my Happy Meal.
Best Happy meal toys of all time
I remember searching for them back then.... And yes , I found them all. still have it. another great review!!!! :)
I remember growing up i searched all over looking for every peace. Damn memories
I’m this old!! me and my dad would collect these😂 rip pops ty for the good memories
Probably the best toy in the kids meal world
i remember having the whole set, when i got the last piece i was on a level of winning at age 9 no other kid or friend i knew was on at the time lol
I remember this so fondly! ^_^ The Inspector Gadget movie was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid, and I loved going to McDonald's to collect the parts to complete Gadget! And I did! But you forgot to mention Gadget's left leg: that Swiss Army knife-type toy. lol.
I just realized you omitted one of the legs from the review. The one with the pliers you didn't show it
This video has somehow stuck with me for 10 years
In case if you didn’t know that is *RARE*
The squirt gun arm was unironically good
That movie did really use more than 8 gadgets from 1999!!
I remember needing two of the toys to complete the set. My mom went to so many Mcdonald's to get me the pieces.
i remember my dad just asking the person at the counter for the specific ones I and my brother still needed. That way we didn't have to baseball-card-guess our way through it.
After only getting one leg my mother saw how big it was and said "when you put him together he must be huge!"
First Jim Henson and marvel, now DiC Entertainment that Disney without a doubt purchase until DiC got defunct in 2008 and Cookie Jar Entertainment took over for their shows.
my pleasure! Thank's for stopping by!
One of those rare themes where I was able to collect them all
The best happy meal toy ever!!
I got the full set too, but I don't know where it is anymore, either in storage somewhere or was donated sometime ago.
The 90s really was the peak of humanity
You do know you skipped 4 right?
It was a basic leg, nothing extra about it.
i think this was the best whole toy you could and still could get as a kid.. i know it was for me and i still have it in mint!!!
this is the coolest fast food toy\toys ever
I own one of these, I love it to death, one of the coolest things I have from my childhood.
I had the chest/cell, arm/water gun & the arm/grabber & my cuz had either 1 of the legs or the hat
I've always liked the toys that could combine.
After my family went to many McDonalds and completed the figure, my mom accidentaly ran over the figure with her car because my younger brother was carrying it and dropped it just as she was entering the garage! Surprisingly the figure was ok, they dont make em like the used to heheh.
I feel old... :/
I still have mine, thank god
Those McDonald’s packaging blasts me with memories
lol, I think it's a fantastic set.
Sure is!
I always wanted that Inspector Gadget action figure from McDonald's.
greatest mcdonalds toy ever!
the watch/belt was the only one I never had, the core piece because it held everything together as the figure lolz
i still use mine
andy martinez how did you find a working watch belt?
You forgot to review the leg pliers on this set
You know, twenty years on, I can't help but pound my fists against the wall at the squandered potential of the movie. Imagine what we could have had if it weren't complete s**t--a new line of figurines, a deluxe Gadgetmobile...but it seems Disney had other plans.
This is a really great happy meal toy! Thanks for the review!
Oh man, I used to have the whole deal!!! It was awesome!!!!
I remember I had just about every piece but 1 and went to different McDonald's asking my parents to ask the ppl there if they had it. Simple times :(
I miss this kind of quick but informative youtube content from someond jjust sharing thir interests
You can also extend his other arm
the hand extends too. it was called the fry grabber
i think you may have skipped the 2nd leg in this video
Thank's bud!
You forgot the Leg Tool
I had all of these except the hat.... good times.
This set is awesome
If i could only have one part of the set, then i would get the lazer extending foot
I remember I had all the parts except the watch.
The arm thats also a grabber can extend as well.
I need to get this.
I kept getting the stupid belt watch when the toys came out lol
I have been looking for the whole set for sometime now, can't seem to find the complete set. Any idea where I can get the complete set?
I found It in my attic two years ago
I think you could find the left leg on eBay for just a couple dollars.
I've. still got 6 complete gadgets there pretty cool.
I want this set
McDonalds needs to start making things like these!
I was mad that I couldn't find all of the pieces
ugh!! I remember I jus got the arm n I cried cuz it wasn't a complete toy
omg best happy meal toy ever I had all but the wach
The best McDonald’s toy promotion of all time
What happened to toy#4 leg tool.
What about the other leg? What does it do?
it was a pair of plastic plyers when opened up
I found the whole set except the hat was missing
Where did u get that
