With Zyler, he sees himself as one of the humans. With Menchie, she's grown up to follow Zyler. She's grown up with more of the "oh okay, so I'm a cat"
I don’t think Zyler is getting old with the meowing in the basement 😂 My cat is 4 and she will go meow mournfully and like a question in the back of the house, and when I call out “Scarf? Scarf we’re right here!” She also does the excited meows and quickly trots out to us 🥺
Everyone immediately knowing why she has a glove on and then there's me that's like awe is she dealing with rashes again? Does she have a bad one on her hand? It takes me a bit but I finally get there 🤣
I had some pretty crazy eczema on my hands last year and had to wear gloves to help with it, that was my first thought when I saw hers. Kinda sounds like she might just be testing a polish she doesn't want to show yet though.
Lmao same, I don't really care too much about the nail polish because I can't buy it anyway, so I was so confused and my first thought was definitely eczema. Took me more than half the video to realise she's probably hiding some polish under the glove. 😅
This was so heartwarming. The game is kind of "stupid", but it was nice to see you 2 celebrating your cats. So much smiling and it shows you are so proud of and really love them.❤🥰😍😻😸
Good judge of character is a real thing! One of my cat's growing up was usually a friendly sweetheart until one day someone I really don't care for showed up to visit unannounced. It was the first time I ever heard her yeowl and hiss at a stranger approaching them for no reason. She knew the T
I love that she just decided to wear a glove with no explanation lol obviously she's hiding some swatches lol. Menchie reminds me of my late cat from a few years ago. She was terrified of new people but loved me. She would also play fetch with me using a twisty tie! I would throw it and she would literally go get it and drop it in my lap for me to throw it again. She taught herself that. I miss her 😢
I watched this episode at work today so had to pause frequently. Every time I paused, either Cristine or Ben had big huge grins. It was really lovely to notice how happy both were this episode. I love that Menchie and Zyler bring you both so much joy. Also, Cristine's hair is looking absolutely gorgeous!!
I swear, my kitteh would watch Laker games with us. I think she wanted to know what the screaming is about. She'd also watch movies with all of us during family movie nights.
Interestingly, my cat had an upbringing more similar to Zyler's (several college apartments, tons of new people around all the time, moving a lot, etc.) but is much more similar to Menchie in her actions and reactions. She's wary of a lot of things and gets scared easily, especially by people. So maybe it isn't all in their upbringing, but a little bit dependent on their natural disposition and personality.
I don’t always comment (I probably should), BUT I just wanted to say how thankful I am for this podcast. I know this podcast may be hard to keep up, but it’s really nice to hear about a variety of topics week to week. Your effort towards this pod doesn’t go unnoticed, and I love listening to y’all’s banter. Thanks for all of the content 😇
My cats do the weird warbly yeowls in different tones when they think they're alone in the evenings, too. If I acknowledge them at all when they're doing it, they come running like they haven't seen me in ages.
Zyler sounds just like my cat! 💗 I've heard him enunciate HEEELLOOO? so clearly it's hilarious but also sad because he usually does it when we're away and we're checking in on him with our camera app 🥺
Menchie definitely seems to know you are talking about her.. probably because you keep saying her name, LOL. She is all silly, playful and attention seeking. Very cute!
Cat personalities and upbringing; cats are different by nature! I had two sisters, I got both at 12 weeks old and they had the exact same upbringing. Tika was super sociable, really chill, not scared of much, but Talwen is very scaredypants and will take hours to come out when we have people over. And yes the Last of us episode was so beautiful 😭 SPOILERS: I lost my older gay uncle to ALS so it really hit home for me 💔
I just wanted to say that I really loved how we got to know you through this podcast, you make every topic interesting, I love how you copliment each other's thoughts, I have a soft spot for Ben and his vast knowledge , I hope you continue making our weeks!
I have learned that orange kitties are all so personable and funny 😂 my orange boi follows me everywhere and responds to his name being called too. He also has a specific sound that he comes to when I make it. The fact that orange kitties all seem to share one brain cell is also hilarious to me. Gotta love them 😂❤
I always joked that Menchie and my cat Nails are related, because they look so much alike, but now I’m fully convinced. Ours girls have the same type of personality too. ❤
The night time warbling that Zyler does sounds a lot like other cats I've had. If you're noticing it happening at night/when it's dark, he might have a degree of kitty dementia - basically he is lost and he is calling for you. So calling out to him is the right thing to do. I've had several cats do this once they became elderly.
We have a senior cat (18 yo) that howls at night, or when she doesn't know where she is in the house, or alone in a room, or when she can not find her food bowl. She's got dementia. Keep an eye on Zyler as he gets old. In case this helps anyone, we have a room where our cat sleeps at night, with all her belongings near her (food, water, toys, bed with heated blanket, litter tray...) and we leave a small light on for her.
I haven't kept up with this channel and I'm probably late on this observation but it's great seeing B̸̟͍̲̙̄̒̎̀̕ę̷̣̱̰͑̂ň̷̨̦̹ a lot more comfortable on camera! The podcast setting just makes sense for you two.
The noise Zyler is making is the sound they make when they are alerting you to something. He's probably been "hunting" and has "caught" something he wants to show you. Probably a toy. My cat used to do it at night time and when I opened my door she'd be stood there with her teddy in her mouth. She's also caught things when outside and made the noise to tell me she's done so.
35:20 We lived in a tornado prone area. We took cover when our dog and cats hung out on our lower floor around the downstairs bathroom (that’s where we sheltered). Our dog would whine and get anxious right before the sirens would go off. The cats would get restless.
Have you guys tried feeder mice? Look up doc and phoebes, they are toy mice you fill with with cat food and hide around for the cats to hunt and eat! May be more tricky with two cats but it has helped mine with the vomiting from eating too quickly (mostly 🤣)
Or other food puzzle options (sometimes marketed as treat puzzles)! Zyler is so smart I'm sure he'd be able to use them effectively. I've heard good things about the mice feeders but have been personally hesitant since I think they would be difficult to clean appropriately (but I could be wrong). It's also pretty easy to DIY different food puzzles depending on what you're going for. I wish Cristine were still making YT videos so we could see the kitties trying out different kinds of puzzles lol
Our cat eats on my husband’s facial hair 😂 She does it in the morning when she wants breakfast. Usually she bites then pulls on his mustache or beard but I’ve seen her bite and then pull on his eyebrows too. It’s hilarious and even more so because she cuddles and sleeps by me in the evening and then wakes up and demands he get up and feed her in the morning, even if I’m awake.
My cat makes those sound zyler does. Its when he sees something outside or has his favorite toy and announces he's leaving it for me. If he's downstairs and has to use the litter box that's upstairs, he makes a low pitched MOWEWWWEWWEW then runs upstairs 100 mph and goes. That will get the process started😆🫣
As someone with chronic migraines I can confirm that I know when the weather is changing, atmospheric pressure changes are a huge trigger for me and I have noticed some cats definitely catch onto it as well but I'm not sure if that's because they might also have discomfort with the pressure changes or if they hear rumbling from thunder far in the distance or something.
Ugh sometimes I forget that Christine lives in Ottawa 😂 I was just there few days ago for work, would love to run into them one day! Also, my cat does react to my facial expressions which I think is cool 😂 should def try this test with my cat! ❤
That howl is the howl our family cat did when he got older/started going deaf. It was very loud because he couldn't hear himself well poor guy! So don't know if that answers anything, but yeah. Also, our cat literally was a senile cat (like cat version of alzheimer's) but in his case, he just got crazier and happier so it was pretty funny rather then sad (as he used to be a SUPER grumpy cat, and once he went senile he became like the happiest cat slowly but surely and it was comical). He lived to be 19 1/2 years old.
Every cat I ever had would have a grooming session IMMEDIATELY after all meals and treats. I'm surprised you guys don't seem familiar with this phenomenon
And in this episode Cristine is wearing One Coat Glove
😂 next in the HT store: secret hands
lol I noticed that immediately and all I could think about the whole time!
@Carli Lejeune lol the bot went awol
"He can't talk YET"
"He's workin on it"
I'm crying 🤣🤣🤣
With Zyler, he sees himself as one of the humans. With Menchie, she's grown up to follow Zyler. She's grown up with more of the "oh okay, so I'm a cat"
This is exactly my two cats. My first thinks of herself as a person, the second is a copycat.
I spy with my little eye a gloved hand, Cristine were you in the middle of making swatches? Haha
Cris must be swatching some new holo polishes. No hints for holo detectives this time 🤣
my left hand is cold
@@SimplyNotLogical oooh could it be, thermal polish collection? 😯
Localized eczema for sure 🧤
@@ziggystardog its her right hand that mostly gets that.
omg I thought it was maybe she was having a skin thing goin on but this makes way more sense 😅
Crying at the thought of Zyler sitting and waiting for them to come to bed 🥺🥺
I am absolutely living for a dedicated episode to Menchie and Zyler 😊
THE SMELL OF GARLIC EUCALYPTUS OR PEPPERMINT IS NOT GOOD AROUND CATS ~PSA
hearing them talk about Zyler throwing up in anticipation is the funniest thing (also 100% would be me as a cat)
Zyler is the real life garfield.
Ben saying "You say things and think I should understand" was hilarious, my husband and I every day back and forth
It takes me a bit but I finally get there 🤣
I thought of her face rashes when they talked about Menchie not cleaning her own eyes. Like maybe she has the same face problem as Cristine.
I was the same 🤣
I had some pretty crazy eczema on my hands last year and had to wear gloves to help with it, that was my first thought when I saw hers.
Why did I just start tearing up at Saf petting Zyler? Help
It just reminds me of Crusty 😭 she knew how to pet his old body because Crusty got massages all the time ❤️❤️
I finally went to adopt a cat after years of watching your videos and loving your relationship with them, but I walked out with three!
Welcome to the club
@@Sunflower_Cats Thank you! I love them so much.
“I’m sure those weird noises Zyler makes is him trying to speak!” Ben is such a doting cat dad 😆❤️
Ah yes, the 4 Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor 🦁 , Hufflepuff 🦡 , Snape 🦇 , and Ravenclaw 🦅
😂
People are teaching cats to communicate via special buttons that say words, may be Zyler wants these
Ben looking at the camera and saying
“ I can read!🤠 “
😂😂😂
I literally spit up my drink when Ben said that Menchie must think Cris’s singing her cries out in pain. 😂
Ben didn’t enjoy the 90’s quizzes but loves quizzes where he gets to answer question’s about the cats 😂
Not Ben doing Harry Potter references the entire time and Cris not picking it up 😂 I love it 😂
This was so heartwarming. The game is kind of "stupid", but it was nice to see you 2 celebrating your cats. So much smiling and it shows you are so proud of and really love them.❤🥰😍😻😸
15:04 awwww omg what a sweeeeetie Miss Menchie is!!
She was all up in Beyn’s face trying to communicate and now is showing her belly 🥰
Good judge of character is a real thing! One of my cat's growing up was usually a friendly sweetheart until one day someone I really don't care for showed up to visit unannounced. It was the first time I ever heard her yeowl and hiss at a stranger approaching them for no reason. She knew the T

Cristine doing the Michael Jackson with the one glove. Should have made it a HOLO glove!! Lol
Zyler throwing up in anticipation of eating is the funniest thing I’ve heard today 😭
Zyler howling in delight is SO CUTE!!!!
Awwww menchie is a little baby in the crib!!
Damn Cris' hair looks sooo good, it's really pretty! 😍
Right?! I love it too ♥
I'm sure Menchie thinks her hair looks good too 🤣
I swear, my kitteh would watch Laker games with us. I think she wanted to know what the screaming is about. She'd also watch movies with all of us during family movie nights.
21:26 it’s adorable! You guys are so happy discussing your loves you keep dropping “aye”s. I love it
It makes me so happy just listening to Cris and Ben talk about the cats. You can tell how much they love them ❤️
Ben: "I think Menchie sees you singing as signs of pain" 😂
Interestingly, my cat had an upbringing more similar to Zyler's (several college apartments, tons of new people around all the time, moving a lot, etc.) but is much more similar to Menchie in her actions and reactions. Omg Menchie's face during the hand signal test lol
Zyler wins. “The only way to win is not to play.”
Famous quote about global thermonuclear war.
Cris is done with us trying to see the bottoms of her nails after she puts OCB on top. She really said "see through the glove, detectives!"
Aaaawe, i love Menchie, she is such a little sweetheart 🥰❤️😽
Menchie definitely seems to know you are talking about her.. probably because you keep saying her name, LOL. She is all silly, playful and attention seeking. Very cute!
So basically Menchie and Zyler are Pinky and the Brain 😅
Cat personalities and upbringing; cats are different by nature! I had two sisters, I got both at 12 weeks old and they had the exact same upbringing. Tika was super sociable, really chill, not scared of much, but Talwen is very scaredypants and will take hours to come out when we have people over.

Such a sweet light hearted pod today! Enjoyed it so much!
I have learned that orange kitties are all so personable and funny 😂 my orange boi follows me everywhere and responds to his name being called too. Lots of love for Menchie and Zyler! 🥰🥰🥰
“BITCH, WHAT?” really made me laugh 😂😂 Zyler is a badass
I always joked that Menchie and my cat Nails are related, because they look so much alike, but now I’m fully convinced. Ours girls have the same type of personality too. ❤

Happy taco Tuesday holo fam 🥰🌮
First thing I clocked was the glove, second that hair. I'm here for it. #stunning the waves are super cute on you simply!

Whenever my cat is alone and can't find us she makes a "hello" meow. so i absolutely agree with Ben they are mimicking speech
I enjoyed this episode so much! It wqs great learning more about my 2 favorite kitties 🥰
I love getting to know the kitties better.
me too :)
Loved cris's curly hair today
35:20 We lived in a tornado prone area. We took cover when our dog and cats hung out on our lower floor around the downstairs bathroom (that’s where we sheltered). Our dog would whine and get anxious right before the sirens would go off. The cats would get restless.
The best episode ever! Had so much fun learning more about the kitttttties!
This was a really cute episode! I’m gonna try to convince my husband to do this for our cats 🐱
Have you guys tried feeder mice? Look up doc and phoebes, they are toy mice you fill with with cat food and hide around for the cats to hunt and eat! May be more tricky with two cats but it has helped mine with the vomiting from eating too quickly (mostly 🤣)

I think Zyler might be going the way of the Planet of the Apes. He’s gonna soon be learning stats
My cat is allowed outdoors but she still wants to come in to use her litterbox. She's like "pooping outside? nasty! "
I loved learning more about your very smart son
My cat Buttercup (also an orange cat) is so much like zyler. He talks to me all the time
I feel like Menchies score was just a "bit" elevated to make her smarter. She is a sweetie.
i have been dealing with some really bad anxiety lately and this podcast is about the only thing that makes me feel better.❤️
Our cat eats on my husband’s facial hair 😂
She does it in the morning when she wants breakfast. Usually she bites then pulls on his mustache or beard but I’ve seen her bite and then pull on his eyebrows too.
It’s hilarious and even more so because she cuddles and sleeps by me in the evening and then wakes up and demands he get up and feed her in the morning, even if I’m awake.
Ben is such a Fupa Trupa he’s dropping sound bites left and right!!
My cat was totally right-pawed. She had to have that leg amputated last year, and she adjusted... but sometimes you can see her try to use that leg...
17:55 ‚I can read‘ - Ben 😂😂😂
This episode was so fun! I love Menchie and zyler so much🥺 and I love how much you two love them🥰
SO TRUE that if you try to call some cats by their name too many times, they will know what you are up to and start ignoring you lol
Cristine - 44:37 - I think you're thinking of a meercat?
One of my cats also gets *super upset* if I sing lol. The other one doesn't seem to notice.
My cat curls up at my side and I have to put a blanket over her and we cuddle and she will get up and down to get water and stuff and I love it ❤
My dog used to have a dominant paw for sure and also really understood directions and things I pointed to.
I feel like the mousie obsession is a calico trait because my little calico also loves the little hard mousies with the little tail
Fav episode so far… I love cats
Cats will rule the world. ❤️

this made me realize how similar my baby boy neru was to zyler now I'm remembering all kinds of cute memories we had I miss him so much
Yes cats (often) have dominant paws! 😊 very cool
Loved this episode ❤ also YES to an episode about the ultimatum, I’ve been dying to hear other people’s thoughts on the French version!!
Cats podcast!!! Yaaayyy😻😻😻😻 zayler is sooo smart ❤
Loving your Podcast! Cat IQ test I'm for this 🐱😹. 🌮
This was a fun and cute podcast 🐱🐱😀
I love all Ben's references to H3 soundbites

I see Cristine is hiding the nails cause of the Detectives 🧐🧐🧐...I'm loving the glove 🥰🥰🥰
Every cat I ever had would have a grooming session IMMEDIATELY after all meals and treats.
I'm surprised you guys don't seem familiar with this phenomenon
not the cats having a more adventurous palette than Cristine LOL
Ok I love the Mench and Zyler. I love Cris. Ben and the podcast. But I can't stop looking at the glove lmao 😂
