Very old tune composed by Ruaidri Dall Ó Catháin from the early 17th century. Here I'm playing it on my new great Dixon low whistle in F. SORRY: Private whistle lessons are NO LONGER AVAILABLE (for now).
I got married in 2005 and my wife walked down the aisle to a similar slow arrangement of this tune. It brings back special memories listening to this and for what it's worth, this is the best version of this tune on RUclips - great stuff lads!
This video is what made me decide to use this song for my wedding in Ireland when my dad walked me down the isle except it was with a violin. This version literally brought me to tears. So beautiful.
Lauren Brothers :D
Lauren Brothers check out our new version too!
Thank you guys. i got married to my dear wife 10 years ago. We just played this when she came into the chapel. Pure perfection.
That is awesome!
@@TinWhistler it was unreal. When i, listening to this tune, turned around and saw her in her wedding dress for her first time . Priceless. What an air!
@@TinWhistler you rock!!!!!
I'll never be able to express what this song and performance means to me. Thank you so much.
this song needs no words is beutiful piece of music and makes you proud to be irish
This is the video that got me started on Low Whistle many years ago. Revisited it this evening, just as good as it ever was. Thanks guys for a lifetime of inspiration. Never underestimate the power of your music. You have touched people's hearts. Including mine.
Thanks! :D
You do this song rly good. I just started playing Tin whistle and this is one of the first songs i learnt. It's a beautiful song.
Well played. You work the long flute very well.. This is a song I love as an Irish man. A song that is so beautiful, it tears at your heart ..
2020 and I'm still listening to this 13 years later. This is what made me fall in love with your channel. Nothing can replace y'alls unique sounds. This is just as gorgeous as it was the first time.
I can't imagine that beautiful piece of creation being portrayed with anything but that whistle. It vibrates into my soul.
I was in a thrift store yesterday and I heard this song on the cd they were playing. I thought of you guys, since this video is the first I've heard this song ever. Then I came back here to watch it again, since the cd in the thrift store did not live up to this recording. :)
Absolutely stunning. Such beautiful playing on the low D and the guitar. Brought tears to my eyes and found you after listening to lots of Planxsty :). Have always loved playing this on the fiddle but the sensitivity of your playing and the ornamentation is something I shall leave to the experts! I shall watch and listen to this over and over again. Many thanks, Eimear Bradley.
This is a gorgeous old tune. You play it with real feeling. Lovely! Thanks.
Just had to comment again...I really like that you play this in a nice, leisurely way. I was listening to a bunch of different versions on iTunes, and everyone seems to feel the need to rush it! This is so much sweeter (more like what one would walk down the aisle to!)
Great job guys, very well done ~ I'm just replaying this video like twenty times and watch our first snow falling gently down here in Ottawa, Canada. Hope to see more from you guys ~ keep playing -
I got married in 2005 and my wife walked down the aisle to a similar slow arrangement of this tune. It brings back special memories listening to this and for what it's worth, this is the best version of this tune on RUclips - great stuff lads! As for the 17 ballbags that dislike this...
I just had to stop by and say thank you. YEARS ago when I first picked up an Irish whistle and had no idea what to do with it I searched on RUclips and found your account! Watching your videos and playing along with them made me a better musician and deepened my love for this music, and for that I am so grateful. Thanks, TinWhistler! :)
Sally Bollen :D
Wow, this is breathtaking. I first heard the symphonic, orchestrated version of this song and it has helped me sleep ever since. I've been a fan of Celtic music for quite some time now, and I my say that this is an incredible rendition of a beautiful song; keep up the music :)
You guys are great. I love this stuff. Don't ever stop playing
One of my favorite version of Tabhair Dom Do Lámh. I love hearing it once in a while. Can't wait to play again on my own low whistle. Hope you still going strong with playing!

dont konw if ive ever heard anything a s beautiful as that , you made me cry
this is my favourite. This was played at my grandmothers funeral. You did it so well, im very proud. It brought me to tears.
We chose this tune to be played at our Wedding back in 2013, it meant a lot to hear it played so beautifully today.... Well done. Often time, in Irish Music, this tune is absolutely "slaughtered" in the playing but this was exquisite! It means "give me your hand" in Irish, which is so appropriate for Weddings. I hope you inspire more people to use it in their special days! Siobhan Kelly (Ireland).
+Siobhan Kelly Awesome!
This is the best version of this song I've ever heard. Gongratulations!
I really think this is my favorite one that you two play. Thank you so much! You make it look easy

OMG...I love this song anf have not heard it in 24 years until tonight. Thank you
...you guys truly rock... this is incredible...!!!
I live in Ireland and I attend Scoil Mhuire. We learned how to play it on tinwhistles F,except (because we are children) we had learned a shorter and easier version of playing this song. Here are the lyrics:
Just give me your hand,is tobhair dom do lamh
Just give me your hand and I'll walk with you,
Through streets of our land, through the mountains so grand,
If you give me your hand,is tabhair dom do lamh...
Absolutely beautiful. It offers me peace of mind and a smile on my face. Thank you, much love!
This is a lovely tune. Now to transpose it so that it can be played on my low D whistle!!!
I am a big fan!
Please go on! I enjoy every Song!

*Sniffle*...this is so lovely! My cousin asked me to learn this tune for him, and now I know whose version I'm going to learn from! :D
The absolute non-plus-ultra version. Awesome.
Tony, thank you for sending this and your lovely comments regarding the old "Sod". When I get more time I will review the other videos you have sent me.
Hope all is well with you.
Pat in Carlow.
Still the best
Just because you don't agree with a comment doesn't make it a bad, or poor comment. You have your opinion and they have theirs. That is as it should be.
There is a world of difference between such comments as "the rhythm isn't consistent" or "your intonation could use some work", and something akin to "that sucks!". The first two you may not agree with, but they are not 'bad', while the third is just plain rude.
This was gorgeous, so nice to listen to, but then, all of your videos are! Keep it up, I eagerly await the next one!
Beautiful. Many thanks lads
beautiful, lads! just the perfect tempo, lovely tone and some nice chords on the guitar
Beautiful arrangement, very soft and leisure...great job!!!

Nice job lads. Someone below asked for how to say the title. Phonetically Tabhair Dom Do Lámh is approximately as follows: Toor dum duh lawv
Wow, beautiful music. I relaly enjoyed listening to this - it's very relaxing. :)
I could really see the hills and the morning mist... and a very lonely person sitting on a cliff playing to his beloved one! :3 sooo beautiful music, it's almost scary how beautiful it is! :D
(If you ever release a CD, I'll buy it for shure!)
Oh and I'm from Northern Ireland genius, not Norway if you bothered to look at the "Hometown" section of my profile, I moved to Norway last year, so yes, there is a choir doing Wolfe Tone songs it's called 'An Cor Gaelach' in St.Joseph's Convent Grammar School :) just so you know!

Hey Tinwhistler, I've been following you guys since I starting delving into the Irish music scene in about 2008, and this was one of the first tunes I heard and wanted to learn to play. Sorry I've never commented before, but I wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are to me musically:) I've been playing around with Garage Band lately and here is my version of the Give Me Your Hand- Tabhair Domh Do Lamh (Give Me Your Hand) I always play it slower in the sessions I attend, thanks to you guys... it sounds so beautiful that way. If you have a chance to listen, let me know what you think. I'm playing a Casey Burns folk flute, a Burke whistle, and a GS mini Taylor guitar. Cheers!
Lovely playing! Thanks!
Hey,
That was great, so when are you going to make a CD, You should come to Cape Breton next year for Celtic Colours. You would be a hit I am sure. Take care and keep up the tunes.
