Quite enjoyable. You know, it almost sounded like Joaquin put on a tape recorder, then sat down and meandered his way around assorted impromptu combinations, melodies, chording - sort of pondering his way across the strings and frets looking for something as a first piece.. Then, after awhile, he shut off the recorder, played it back, and wrote what he'd played. Same for #2 and #4. #6 sounded like a sure thing - something he'd already concocted as a piece. So relaxing - and interesting. Joaquin did good - and so too did Pepe. An enjoyable listen. The entire Romero group does a great job on Rodrigo's Concerto Andaluz for four guitars too - particularly the rather livlier recording with Neville Mariner....
Exactly! The performing is as if improvising, which I think is what the pieces require. Heard the Romeros, minus Pepe who was ill, about 30 years ago in performance. A lovely eening.
