A very solid design! It’s pretty cool that you constantly update your track and fixing errors that occur, it gives an evolution of how far you have come as a Diecast builder! Very impressive work as always Spool Heads!
I’m totally embarrassed by how the track was bouncing. This was actually just a test to show someone a little test, so I didn’t worry too much about setting it up, but then I was so happy with how it looked, I thought I’d share it. I’ll have to try to make a 3-4 turn track like this and see how it goes.
More excellent progress! Well done on the continued inspired designs, especially ones like this that are both practical and help potential tracks become more organic.
Looking good! When can we expect a video with some kind of full track setup? I would love to see how your different ideas are working in practice in different configurations. Cheers!
My problem is my mind keeps coming up with new stuff that I want to try, so it's been hard to commit to a track design. I think I'm going to pivot and some some temporary tracks/races to help flesh out these ideas more. Thanks for caring!
Love this....especially after watching the speed of the cars on the Skyway Track, I feel this would or could create an even more competitive race. It may be nice to see this a bit wider so those cars that are side by side can exit competitively also. Thank you for what you're doing to further the Diecast FUN! Cheers!!!
Thanks Eric. Going wider would be really interesting for sure. Right now, it seems like most tracks are either using Crash Racers track or some sort of alternative that doesn't have grooves. Wouldn't it be great to have crash racers in 2, 3 and 4 car widths? That would really help mix things up. Thanks again for the comment!
I’m about 75% happy with the grooves right now. The design and testing process is a challenge and I hope to make more progress in the coming weeks/months. The good news is that the turn is race worthy and will continue to improve with more data from races and feedback.
You need to set the track ready. Hit up the race, and produce it on YT. Your music editing is awesome, your voice for commentary is great. I've watched almost all of your video so far. Keep on inspiring. 👏
There is zero room to pass coming out of that curve. The portion with no support that is - its almost like it converges into 1 lane coming out as a result. None of the cars for example were head to head to see if a pass is even possible. Edit: Liked & subbed! looking forward to seeing where you take this!
That's great observation. I guess it might feel a bit like how difficult it is to pass in a chicane on a real track. I wonder if there are any options to help with this. Thanks for the sub!
I'll have a store sometime soon. I'm doing limited sales right now. I really want to make sure that people are happy with their experience with Spool Heads before expanding it out more. Thanks for the comment!
The bank turn looks awesome I'm glad to see you've removed the humps through the center of the turns. The resin that you use is it always gloss black shiny like that Or can you use other colors let's say a Gray or a flat black.
Isn’t is crazy how the filament takes on a different shine based on the angle? I don’t love the checkerboard style look, but since the color has matched the crash racers so well, I’ve put up with it. I’d like to do a paint/matte clear coat finish to see how it could look. Good idea to try to find a matte filament too. Thanks for the feedback!
What all do you make? Can you make track supports that are at different heights? For those of us who cannot have a track that is set up permanently? It would be awesome to have 4 of these modular turns for smaller spaces in rooms.
I was just thinking about having a modular support system too. That's such a great idea. I also print 1, 2, 4 lane track. You can see the STL files here. www.thingiverse.com/search?q=spool+heads+racing&page=1&type=things&sort=relevant
@@spoolheads, thank you! I'm so glad you like my idea. How much are the STL files, I did not see a price, I do not own a 3d printer, but I do have a friend who can build them for me. I'm interested in the open track and the 2 lane tracks, with having the first level and turn as two lanes then 3 turns of open lanes with grooves, just like the set up that you have here.
@@ravenshadowz2343 The STL files for the SR2 dual lane track are free and posted on thingiverse.com. Just search for Spool Heads Racing. I'm not releasing/selling STL files for the open track turn. If you are interested in buying prints of them, reach out to me at sales@spoolheads.com. Thanks for your interest!
After I observed a previous test, it seemed like it would be nice to try smooth for the short turn to allow more freedom of movement. This test would be nice to see with grooves on the second track as well.
I am interested in buying some of your track pieces. I need help with my last turn, and would like to bring my track closer together to add more track with less space like in this video. if you don’t mind checking one of my races out and seeing where you could help?
Great track! I love how you've implemented the turns and especially the open lane ramp. In looking at your race, I felt like you've done a great job maximizing the strengths of the crash racers turn. Want to message me on Facebook and we can talk more?
@@spoolheads thanks! Yeah Facebook works. It took a lot of time to make sure the cars go down really good, It took forever to get it right. 4 different 180 turns later! I am sure you know all about it.
Impressive set up! Its always so interesting to see what you're designing and why. Limited space is a great consideration.
Right back at you Mark!

Such nice words here. Thank you!
Space-saving is a heavy bonus! Definitely wanna see the higher speed response with the track screwed down. Dig it man!

I think that making more organic tracks is a strength of the modular turn. Thanks for the encouragement!
You are a legend thank you fat track is so expensive but your work allows the common man to race
Thank you for all the comments today Howard! I really appreciate the support.
Wow, that looks just amazing.
Thanks! This configuration is really something I'm happy with :)

love it, might need it!
Let's make a bigger track with a few of these and have a party!
That will be really useful!
I think so too! I really need to get some racing going.
That’s a really nice design and a great solve on how to get in a big turn when you have limited space!
Glad you like it!
makes me wonder if sanding down the grooves in the turns might help

Well thought out very impressive
I appreciate the complement and you politely not mentioning the bouncing track :)
Love it! ❤
Thanks Lucas!
Great video!! Agree it's a balance act with speed

I definitely need a couple of these turns
I like it, the curve firts is great

Is it easy to have that setup in reverse? Ie cars come into turn from right to left..opposite to the video.
I've taken it down but I would love to try this out for sure. Great idea!
may i ask dose smooth track as apposed to groves for grip was wondering im a new sub

Dove posso trovare questa pista? È stupenda e non la trovo da nessuna parte!

Would it work printing in TPU? I'm a bit afraid the TPU has too much resistance and takes out the speed...
