Hey guys. Checking back in after a couple of years. There is now a potential cure for FIP it seems. It is a drug called GS441. It seems to not be easy to get your hands on however. Worth giving this a read here: www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2020/05/remdesivir-cats/611341/
My heart goes out to everyone else who has had to deal with this horrible disease. Hoping that this cure can become more widely available so no one has to go through what we went through. Sending love in 2021
two days ago our baby cat left this world in my arms, my boyfriend did not had the opportunity to say goodbye, if not a quick look before going to work, at times I do not feel I can survive this pain .. when you talk abt the deep relationship you built even if there were “just” some months we can understand you...it is the third time that I listen to your story, in some way it’s helping a lot.. your faces and your tears could be ours .. We do not find peace, only loneliness. I’m grateful for your words.. i hope our beloved babycats r playing all around our places.. just want to feel his soul somewhere. A deep hug.

I understand their feelings so well. What's so fucked up about this disease is how it just comes out of nowhere until you already formed a bond right and just takes it way. My yellow 6m old cat willy back in December was fine one week and the next one was gone. I cried so much.
I feel you bro. Losing a pet is no joke. It's hard for people to understand the connection you have with your pet. They become a family member more then just a pet an it leaves a hole in your heart when they leave. But his at peace now, in cat heaven. R.I.P🙏🏾♥️

I feel so guilty on top of my grief. My Oscar was 2 years old, I had raised him since kittenhood. I put him down the day he received his FIP diagnosis because the vet said there were no cures and it was 100% fatal. He already had fluid in his abdomen and wouldn’t eat. I only found out after I put him down that underground treatments for FIP existed. I feel like a terrible mom , I put my baby down without even researching it. My baby is dead because of me and I feel so guilty. I feel like there was something I could’ve done, he was so young, I feel like I didn’t have enough time with him and I miss him so much every day. I can barely even think about him without bursting out crying.
RIP little man. Wow had no idea so thanks for clearing this up bro! Just have to be thankful for the joy he brought to you over the last few months. You can see how much he meant to you and Jem. I just found out my cat has FIP a few days ago. She is my baby and I am absolutely heart broken over this 😢😢
We lost our kitten to FIP about a year ago. It started with him sleeping for days on end, then he would do anything he could to lick the stones on the terrace. Later he had trouble finding his balance, and in the end he was completely paralyzed. He didn't have seizures like yours, but he had brain damage nonetheless. He wouldn't eat or drink and lost close to all his muscle tissue. We had the same ups and downs in our story, thinking he was going to live, he was going to be alright. We took him with us to the beach, and he walked next to us on the shore. It was beautiful. We decided to put him down when he no longer purred, no longer acknowledged our existence at all. Before that, he would stop at nothing to show how happy he was, even if it cost him all his energy. He was just too tired and in too much pain to feel happiness. The vet came to our home, she let me hold him as she did it. It soothes me to think that the last thing he ever felt was to be in my warm arms, being pet and kissed by our family. We miss him terribly.
My cat was 1 year and 3 months old. he was so precious and had just died due to being diagnosed with FIP. I am devastated😭 he stopped eating and gave up hope completely and stopped trying to fight the water in his body, until it filled up to his lungs and killed him. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to stop feeling the way I feel right now. he went to his favorite spot when he died, it was a staircase that had a window next to it, he was staring at the window and I didn’t think much of it. I went to my bedroom then again went to check on him. I saw him laying down (still alive) taking a very deep last breath and that’s when I knew. I’m 15 so I couldn’t handle it. I just ran straight to my room cause I just knew it was his last and sobbed and I am still sobbing till this moment. it’s been about 9-10 hours. Idk what to do😭🥺🥺
Hey man, I’m going through the same thing right now.. I know how you feel, I can’t do anything about it and it just breaks my heart, to see a little kitten suffer like that hurts me so much. But all I know right now is that they are in heaven watching over us, living the better life. My kitten is sleeping right now and it can barely stand up. I just pray and hope everything will be okay. All we need to do is move on.
Muaz Islam at least they are at peace now and aren’t suffering💞 the thing is my vet never told me it was incurable and that my cat was suffering. I would’ve put him down cause he was just so weak and skinny for FIP, he couldn’t even try to fight it. anyways, it gets better, now when I see pictures of him I smile. cause I remember how amazing he was and how he would always keep me at peace. our little angels are probably playing with each other up there❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss!😢 I experienced the same sadness of my very 1st cat I owned who was a beautiful black cat about 1 to 2 years old. He had contracted FIP about 8 months into my ownership of him after adoption from a shelter. At the short time before the virus took hold of him he was an energetic and playful cat. There wasn't any treatment for FIP when I took him the same painful way that your precious one went through. I was broken hearted and thought I did something wrong but found out the hard way that some cats or kittens can get this terrible and devastating disease. 😢😢😢😢
@@robertbowman7636 I’m sorry for your loss as well. It’s not something that’s easy to forget but it does ease my mind that they are not suffering with this disease anymore and finally at peace. I also thought I was doing something wrong and couldn’t understand, but it’s a deadly disease that I hope a cure has been found for. There was no cure when my little one passed which devastated me and I wish I knew earlier so that I could put him out of his misery. He suffered a lot and I can’t forget the pain he went through. May our precious kitties rest in peace❤️

I'm sorry for your loss. I just lost my cat Taiger (Tiger) this past wednesday. she had pain in her body and had a hard time walking had to put her to sleep at the Vet. She was my pride & joy for 8 years, adopted her off the streets as a stray cat in (2012). It's only been two years since she passed and I feel like I have a hole in soul right now with her around anymore. I 🙏 for comfort and peace to everyone that has lost a 🐈, or other pet in (2020).

i understand how you feel completely, i lost my kitten to FIP yesterday. he was my best friend , and just as everything was falling into place and i was feeling really happy , he started getting worse, but it all happened in 30 mins. he was a beautiful fluffy maincoon, and he passed away whilst holding my hand 💔 rip my angel Oscar👼🏽🙏🏽❤️
Im watching this as my little guy is probably with me for his last night. FIP is the worst casenario for your cat and I hope all of those suffering through this know they aren't alone.

Hi, I recently just replied to your comment saying how my cat is in the same situation. He died this morning and I watched him take his last breath. I hope this feeling gets better and that your cat can live a little while longer if not, don’t worry your cat will finally be at peace just as mine. my cat was SUFFERING I felt so bad I wish I put him down rather than watch him suffer till he finally rest😭🤍

We lost our BSH Frank last Saturday night to Wet FIP 😭 9 maths old tragic disease complicated by tyranny of time and distance. 14 days to get bloods back so he could get the Rem treatment. He didn't make it
thank you so much. I just got my little Panini after Thanksgiving and today she was soooo lethargic. I had to rush her to the vet for her to be put down because of FIP. My baby boy was just diagnosed with dry FIP a week ago. He is on steroids now. He is eating well and loves treats. He has been playing a lot more lately. I am just waiting for the decline 😢 or praying for a miracle.
Sorry. I lost my cat to FIP in 2017. This still makes me teary-eyed.
Thank god there is a cure now. Our cat was diagnosed about 4 months ago and rapidly deteriorated. After 12 weeks of treatment, she is great. There has been a known cure for years, but the patent is owned by GSK. GSK knows it has other applications and does not want to risk negative side effects being documented in animal tests to bring it to market. Luckily pharmaceutical MFRS in China reverse engineered it and are making it widely available, but still quite expensive at around $45USD/day X 90 days
FIP is treatable for those that know where to go. I think the algorithm recommended this vid because I have a cat with wet FIP currently. I've been treating her for 2.5 weeks and for all intents and purposes she is back to normal.
She's not "cured" yet. We're only on day 25 of a 12 week treatment but she's back to acting normal at this point. On FB look for a group called FIP Warriors 5.0- they will help. There's some fake FIP groups out there so be careful.
There is currently no medical treatment for FIP that I'm aware of. If your cat has the noneffusive form of the disease, it's possible that antibiotic treatment can support the immune system and extend your cat's life, but it has dangerous side effects and it's not a cure. There is an experimental antiviral drug that's being researched for use in FIP treatment, but it's not approved for use in the US and many other countries at this time.
My kitty goes into observation period in 2 days after being successfully treated for 12 weeks. Just because it's experimental doesn't mean it doesn't work. Experimental treatments and medications are used for humans all the time. Because pet owners are told there is no treatment they euthanize their cats unnecessarily and some only find out after the fact that they could have done more. Success is not 100% but it's high enough to save a lot of lives

I’m sorry but this is completely untrue. My sweet boy had dry FIP, his FIP affected his CNS. It was killing him on the inside. Realistically even cats with treatment can die. Don’t promise fake hope
Thank you for sharing this, my boyfriend and I found out a week ago that our 5 month old kitten has wet FIP and we are putting him down this afternoon. :( It’s a sudden, unfair and cruel disease. I wish the GC376 medicine was available to the general public to try to save this furry ones. I hope you two get more fur babies and I am hoping we will too. This is such a traumatic experience.

Hi, found your comment while searching for answers... it's jan 2022, we got our kids a kitten for Christmas and just found out he has wet FIP. I cannot find anything on the end days of their lives. I'm trying so hard to prolong our time with him, but we also don't want to subject our kids or our kitten to a horrible death. I was hoping you could give me some insight to what made you decide to put your cat to sleep. I can't seem to make the decision.

@@Freezma There was no warning for my cat. She started losing weight and stop eating for 2-3 days. Took her to the vet and she was given at most 7 days. Vet was right on timing and she passed away 7 days later. Not fair.
I just had to put my kitty down yesterday and I’m crushed! She had the wet version her belly swelled really big, stopped eating.. but what is sad is my son found her outside all by herself basically we saved her life she was at the vet hospital for two weeks made it through came home she was the happiest kitty ever, she would play, bounce around the house, just fine… And then I noticed one day she wasn’t playing a week later all she did was sleep and finally the following week I noticed her belly swelled up and it just got bigger day after day so I finally took her and yesterday I found out it was a virus called FIP.. This is my first time getting a kitty and I absolutely am crushed I cannot stop crying, my daughter who is 16 also cannot stop crying and we want to research, help find a cure for this horrible disease! It’s just sickening what my kitty went through and to be just put to sleep with no other OPTIONS!

Sorry about the sad news. FIP is actually can have treatments now. I have 2 cats rescued back in 2022. One of my cat passed away a few weeks ago by suspected FIP. It was too late to find out it was FIP. I was devastated as he was only 3 year old. He started with sneezing so vet at first thought he had flu herpes. He seemed ok on 1st week on medication but sneezing continued. After 2 weeks, his sneeze stopped but he started not eating much, at that point I bought him to another vet. That vet charged me fortune to put in hospital and thought he had FIP, but sadly next day, he got worst and passed away. He didn't have seizure he was just getting weak and not eating much... But now there is treatment for FIP, it was around 89% successful rate or something. Be careful of the black marketing FIP treatments though, but there is some treatments now to cure.

We’ve just lost our kitty to FIP - it is the most cruel disease and it’s awful how quickly it progressed. I had never heard of it until two weeks ago - I can totally relate to feeling so completely consumed by this disease. The last two weeks of our lives have been vets visits and specialists and doing as much research as possible. It’s comforting to know that someone understands what we’re going through. We only had her for 7 months and it is devastating 😢

Sorry to hear your lost. My cat had wet FIP last August. And I treated him with this drug GS441. Started from this fb group and then I purchased some drug on a Chinese site. This drug is not FDA approved but it truly worked. My cat is healthy now. Hope everyone know this drug and hope more cats can be saved.

I'm really hoping my cat doesn't have this but I have to accept that it's a possibility. Our vet said it was a possibility I had never heard of it before. I have my kitten on seizure medication and it's working so far. She's my baby I understand what you mean a few months with an amazing cat can form a tight bond. Thanks for sharing.

Cats can have dormant FIP for years. Most rescue shelter cats and many purebreds from catteries are infected very early in life. Stressful events can weaken the immune system and bring it out of dormancy. I once had two rescue cats from the same litter who both died of FIP three years apart.

I lost my childhood cat 2-3 years ago that I had for 14 years growing up, she was healthy never had problems and just died of a heart attack 1 day, I still cry from time to time it's hard when you loved them so much. It will get better with time trust me

My cat was diagnosed with FIP 2 weeks ago. 🥺 All I find on the Internet is people saying that it’s fatal and that their cats died from it😞 My Veterinarian isn’t explaining to me saying if it’s fatal or not. he’s acting like my cat will be fine but the internet is not. Farah I am so sorry I feel your pain. My heart is broken I lost my Ragdoll Freddie to FIP . First week after I lost Freddie I was mad.at the whole world,especially at the vet that did not warned me on March about my cat been probably infected and developing FIP. When I took him to the vet 2 weeks ago because he was not eating well and looked tired is when the vet told me he was sorry and the Freddie had all the indications of FIP

I hope someday they find a cure. this disease is horrible. it’s incurable AND the cats who have it die by choking on the ‘water’. that’s what happened to my cat. I’m still very disappointed my vet didn’t let me know he was suffering or that it was not curable. I could have put him at peace earlier, rather than watch him literally CHOKE on the liquid right in-front of me.
Our first ever kitten, Ollie, had wet FIP. We’ve never had a cat before because we always thought that they weren’t the cuddliest but Ollie proved us so wrong. It was hard not to love the little guy. He would follow me everywhere and would only nap next to me. He would talk to me nonstop. The thing that bothers me the most is that his last week before we put him to sleep, he was at the hospital surrounded by strangers. I just hope that he never thought that we abandoned him. Even though we were there in his final moments, it terrifies me to think that he wasn’t aware of how much he was loved. I hope everyone who had to deal with losing a kitten finds the peace that they need ❤️
Oh god i so much resonate with your message, lost my angel to fip yesterday and the thing that bothers me the most is the exact same you describe. I was in such a dilemma for leaving her in the vet clinic instead of taking her home and keeping her in my arms until her last moment, but she needed oxygen thats why it was a hard choice.
If you see my message please give me hope that this will pass, am crying my eyes out everything feels empty and pointless.
I love you so much for being so kind to your little kitty, i know i did the best i could but still wanted her to feel at ease until her last moments. i know shes in a better place now ♥

My precious girl died from this around the same time and I was so mad I'd never heard of this disease. So sorry you lost your baby too, but thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
I feel your pain I lost my poor baby cat Tara to FIP and she wasn’t even a year old yet (she died a month before her first birthday) except Tara had wet FIP and she felt so bad she didn’t even want to eat. So we had to put her down because she was in so much pain and she was going to die of hunger anyway. It’s so painful to think about our cats getting tortured😭😭😭
I know exactly what you guys went through because I'm facing it now my nice's kitten 1 year old has FIP & the wet form. Last night I couldn't sleep. It's so hard to even imagine that he will not be able to make it. I've loved him and I will love him ❤️

Try and get another I lost my 12 year old puppy in feb to brain cancer it was so traumatic but my new puppy came two months later and had healed our grief the pain of loosing her is still there but having my new boy is the best decision
We had to put our 7yo to sleep yesterday after having wet FIP for only 3 days. We are devastated that this horrific disease took away our baby - especially as her age was in her favour. It can happen to any cat. 💔💔💔

i have a huge problem,some cats are coming in my backyard cus my neighbour feads them and they play with 3 baby kittens i rescued and my cats got this decease,from all i read my cats will die,the test was positive but the dotctors said that we have 70% chance that the cats will get better but all i read is that evan if they get better they will leave top 1-2 years
I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. I recently had to put my kitten down due to FIP(wet version) what I thought would be a innocent trip to the vet turn into a devastating decision to put her down

I went took him to the vet because he did not wanted to eat and look sick I though it was an intestinal.obstruction or something fixable. He was Dx with FIP ,,the vet said no cure, and that he was deteriorating and he was gonna get worse.. vet gave him some steroids to keep him comfortable so I can spend few days with him
Before I put him to sleep, when I got home he made it to the litter box,pee but did not covered, he started walking weird, started to salivate, his pupils went huge, he lost control of his bowel movement . I rushed him to the hospital and vet told me my baby was dying. It was traumatic ,painful 😢 💔..I miss him so much. Vet told me I need to notify the breeder since genetic predisposition is high in pure breed cats. I was mad at the whole world now I am very sad but accepting things and I wish I can help in someway to STOP this evil diseases from taking the lives of our babies. Hope you find some comfort

katherine saucedo wow your vet said that? That’s funny because my cat was a pure breed American bobtail that I got from a shelter. When I first got her she was coughing and sneezing a lot and I thought it was because she went from a shelter to a home and sometimes that can make them sick. Someone informed on a pet forum that sometimes no kill shelters will pawn off sick animals to people, I always wondered if that was the case with me.
If anyone is watching this because they found out your cat has FIP. Know that there is a cure. Vets wont tell you about it most of the time tho. There are fb groups out there that will help you find the right meds for you. My cat went from not moving or eating to being his normal self again after only 3 doses. Really sorry for your loss!!! We got 2 of the most amazing babies a 10 days before Xmas, all the sudden one of them got really bloated in belly and 106.7 fever!! Thot I'd take him to vet and they'd give him antibiotics and we'd go home?the covid 19 kept me out of vet office and tech took Tango in and within 10 minutes the Dr.called my cell to tell me of the FIP!?!?! Called my hubby, he was there in 10 minutes and we put Tango to sleep!!! His litter mate Dingus has markers in his blood that he has been exposed to fip, so we can't get him a buddy, chances are his body makes enough antibodies so he will hopefully never develop disease????? Sandy Pendell My cat was 1 year and 3 months old. he was so precious and had just died due to being diagnosed with FIP. I am devastated😭 he stopped eating and gave up hope completely and stopped trying to fight the water in his body, until it filled up to his lungs and killed him. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to stop feeling the way I feel right now. he went to his favorite spot when he died, it was a staircase that had a window next to it, he was staring at the window and I didn’t think much of it. I went to my bedroom then again went to check on him. I saw him laying down (still alive) taking a very deep last breath and that’s when I knew. I’m 15 so I couldn’t handle it. I just ran straight to my room cause I just knew it was his last and sobbed and I am still sobbing till this moment. it’s been about 9-10 hours. Idk what to do😭🥺🥺 at least he is finally at peace🤍🤍🐈👼
We just went through this about a month ago. Its one of the most brutal things we've seen. Our five month old was gone within a couple days.
She is a worrier,my cat coco also had dry fip and at last movement he has seizures attack randomly after some period of gap,and yesterday he passed away,this is too much badly disease plz don't take granted initial symptoms,like lack of appetite,pale gum,and lazyness,and also be careful in hospital hygiene,they use same bed for treatment which is used for any other viral disease patient,its happened with me,before that my cat is healthy,we just go for normal check-up and suddenly after some days he catches panlukepenia then fip,and died yesterday horribly😢
so sad - I lost my kitten a week ago - FIP. I rescued her from a dirty pet store here in Thailand. the vets can't do anything. I know the symptoms very well and I don't go to the vet anymore - they just give me a big bill - the cat is going to die anyway. instead of torturing her with medicine and making her last hours of life even worse, i stroked her, she heard my voice and purred. at least she had 2 wonderful weeks in my house.
OMan, this was very hard to watch, it looks awful and Im sure it was for him. He knew something was happening at start, then got confused to whats going on. For someone to say, oh they dont remember or it doesn't hurt? Is kind of silly cuz we have No idea what they feel or remember. As much as I hated watching, at least now I know what it is if I ever see, etc. I 100 know your lose at the time, hopefully y'all have adopted again after the heart pain has dulled. You know what I mean, no disrespect 💔 😻. Also, have to say I can 120 see just how much You Love Him, your emotion made me cry even more and its not my baby😻. I've also seen pet owners do a video next day and are laughing, not one tear. Which I get some take life in stride, but come on 🤐?!!
Yesterday I had to put down my Precious Pumpkin named Greedy, It's so Sad because she just had a litter of kitties 10 days ago, She got really sick a week after having them, Took her to the Vet & found out she has FIP, I never heard of that before, Vet said she would get worse & would be fatal eventually, I found her in my backyard 11 1/2 months ago, I'am oh so sad right now so I thought I might get some therapy by watching YT videos of other people that had to go through this, So thank you guys for making this video, literally she was a healthy kitty up until two days ago & now she is gone & left us 4 beautiful kitties, Vet said kitties really need the mama in order to survive, me & my son & daughter & their mom is going to make it happen..
Our little Fonzi had to be euthanised today. We have bought him 20 days ago. Fonzi's belly started growing and today at 3am my older cat kept screaming for help. When I came, Fonzi was on the floor, rolling in pain and meowing. I immediately took him to vet clinic and he was put on intensive care. At 2pm I agreed to euthanise him as he was not improving and was very depressed. At least he is in a better place no longer suffering 😥 same reason - FIP, the so called "wet kind of FIP"
Our kitten passed away today due to FIP. It happened so fast and was first diagnosed as just having a kitty cold. Last night July 11th 2021 he was having breathing problems. Today we took him back to the vet because his breathing got worse and then all of a sudden he was on a ventilator with 5 minutes to live as his heart rate went to 0. He had the wet version in his chest so his chest cavity had 100ml of fluid in it restricting his breathing. It's very hard to deal with. :( He was only 3 months old and we've only had him for 3 weeks.
I wish there was more FIP awareness. My 4mo old kitten Tofu has wet FIP and his little belly is so big..and we have to syringe feed him, and carry him to the litter box. I know there’s a cure now but it’s just so expensive. I just can’t afford it and I feel so bad..
Sorry but the vet should have tested him for FIP. I went to the vet for my cat to see what was wrong because I’ve had him for 4 weeks and I could see something was wrong. He had a big belly and always sleeping and skin and bones. The vet bloody vaccinated him which then made the procedure much faster in the morning he was lifeless so I ran him to the vet where they did all kind of test. The results were FIP and liquids everywhere also around his heart. He died 30 min later. If the first vet would have tested him and diagnosed him we could have got this medicine on the black market which does miracles.
Your vet should have diagnosed him not given him medicine against seizures 🙈 so it’s the vets fault!
My 17 week old kitten was just diagnosed with wet fip today . We had taken him to the vet a little over a week ago and he had a bit of a fever and wasn't being his normal playful self . They gave him an antibiotic shot , a fever reducer and the vet said his belly felt wormy so she gave him a topical dewormer . We noticed his belly getting bigger so I thought the dewormer wasn't working . Come to find out , that wormy feeling was actually fluid building up . We are having him put to sleep on Tuesday. Today is friday , we wanted one more weekend of snuggles . It is one of the most heart destroying things I've been through . I know this video was posted 3 years ago but I just want to say , I'm so sorry for your loss and for anyone else who has suffered the same loss ❤
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my dear Katrina to FIP more than 30 years ago. Still think about her, but not how sick she got, only what a great friend she was. Hope that in time the good memories of your Halo will take over, too. All the best to you.
That is horrifying. I really applaud you guys for sharing this and I feel for what you went though. The feeling of helplessness to make him better must have been terrorizing. I know this was a few years ago now but it is the first time I am seeing it and I have to say it affected me. Well done considering the subject matter. Respect.

I had my cat for 9 years in September he lost a lot of weight and he had cancer I gave him every medication that would help him but 3weeks ago had to put him to sleep it’s killing me I know how u both feel it’s sad u will get through this I am slowly his name was Devon same colour as urs u will miss him every day I do but u did all u could my heart goes out to you I am feeling like u are now so god be with you u will be ok he will be at the rainbow bridge happy no more pain x

It does happen with cats older than 2 years old. We lost one a few years back. I found this video because I think we’re dealing with this again. So sad.

I know im going to lose my mother cat and her 3 kittens It was all my fauly i rescued this infected kitten and bring him near to my cat then 1 day past i Get rid of the Infected cat now my mother cat has a big abdomen.
So sorry for your loss. I came across this video trying to find more about FIP. My beautiful 8 month old kitten has just been diagnosed with the dry version aswell. I feel completely helpless knowing that there is nothing I can do. Hopefully they will find a cure for this and no one else will have to feel this pain of losing your best friend 😪❤

Zaccary Lee there’s some meds called Mutian and Shire that do a really good job at treating FIP. unfortunately it costs a LOT, but there are a few cheaper options. my mutian meds are costing me $3000/month but it’s supposed to cure. after just 4 days my kittie is doing so good and i think she may overcome FIP. i hope your cat is still alive and it’s not too late
