Hi, I recently saw your video on how to grow canna lily seeds in 5 days. Followed your instructions and did 34 canna lily seeds. 29 sent out little shoots. I potted them in soil in small pots. I now have 28 that have sent out small green leaves . Best video I have seen on how to grow canna lily seeds. Keep up the great videos.
Hi @vitraloo9478 . So sorry for the delayed response and thank you for the compliment. We're glad that it worked out so well for you :-) . We actually just did a Follow-Up to that video. New to the channel and fellow New Jerseyan . Totally new to Canna's and loving it. When should I dig my rhizomes up? I am really looking forward to growing my own from seeds next year . Thanks for sharing all you do.
Hi @BoxcarJerry (fellow New Jerseyan) - sorry for the delayed response - we were on vacation last week. Thanks for reaching out to us. You still have plenty of time. As I'm sure you've noticed, we've gotten a little bit of a heat wave (81 degrees in Central NJ today - WOW!) I'm thinking that we're going to have well into November so until the real frost comes for several days and your canna leaves and stalks all look brown, you'll be OK. Even when they look that bad, don't worry, the rhizomes are in perfect shape. We usually don't start digging ours up until mid-December. If you want to know how to store your cannas during the winter, we have a video that you can check out here: ruclips.net/video/p_fcjRkyBY4/видео.htmlsi=JiX5zp6SZ5S6f4Nu . If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us again. Also, if you're interested in growing from seeds, you can check out our Etsy site at: www.etsy.com/shop/JDGardensNJ . We sell a large variety of seeds and plants during the season. Right now, we're in the middle of packaging up our seeds to get ready for the Fall seed selling season. They should all be online by mid-November. Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan
Hi goldriderlc : Thanks for the comment and thanks for the compliment. Like I said in the video, in the Fall, we'll make a step-by-step video of putting it all together. I'll even mock up a smaller storage locker that I have, that might be more practical for people to use. Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan
Great video I store mine in basement but we are moving to our new home which does not have a basement. I was going to put in them in wood chips in one of our storage sheds and a small heater . Do you think I could keep it at around 35 degrees just to keep from freezing. Anyway these cannas are fantastic and we need to get people interested in them . I sell a few of the plants out front at my plant stand and people are get to see how great these plants are blooming all summer till frost here in northern indiana. Keep up with the great videos My favorite is the cleopatra, what is yours
Hi @Rod58 . Thanks for the comment and compliment. Welcome to the NO basement club ;-) . Absolutely, you can store them that way. If you don't have a need to access them as frequently as we do over the winter, then packing them away would be just fine. In the Fall, when we do a video setting up Fort Rhizomes ;-) again, we're going to mock up a smaller storage shed that might be more practical for people who don't store a billion rhizomes like we do ;-) . Obviously, we totally agree with you about the beauty of the cannas. We've been growing them for years and collect new ones every year. I think we've gotten about 16 new ones this year and have over 70 varieties. We actaully have a showcase garden in the front of our property that all of our neighbors love to see each year. We also make a Walk Through video of it each year. You can see it here: ruclips.net/video/z4kgqIfFfbA/видео.htmlsi=N6s4Q2_px_FpRM7E . Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan
