Thanks for the mention! We had the same idea to talk about all our favorite charcoals this week lol
Great video!
I saw! how serendipitous!
Slew “I hope this looks like him” …0.0025 seconds later has likeness 😂
I love charcoal, it’s really forgiving for a beginner also
Love it super exieted for the watercolor video 💃💃💕
LOVE CHARCOAL!!!!
Omg I just love your videos so much. You are my comfort youtuber. I just know I'm gonna enjoy my time when you post a new one. Thank you🙏🏼
I should try charcoal but the mess! Argh!
Your portrait was brilliant, I've been watching your videos the last few years and I love seeing how you've progressed, very inspiring! 😊
Thanks so much!
this Series is gonna be awsome! will you do oil pastels? Pleeeeeeeeeese!!!
Love charcoal. It was my first medium to use as a child. I am now doing pet commissions in Charcoal. Like you said once you master it... It's amazing.
That is so awesome! I always make a huge smears mess with it.
I love charcoal too.
You're too hard on yourself! You are totally great at drawing and constantly improving. I admire your commitment to practice and improvement. Always inspired by your videos, thanks!
This is such good timing! I’m just now getting into charcoal and Idk what I’m doing 😂
Seeing the process is amazing!
Love charcoal, it really does feel a lot like painting in many ways
I love this series idea! I’m filming something similar as to how I use various mediums to achieve what I do…
I love seeing someone who loves a medium or technique I avoid. It gives it more depth for me.
Great video! Thanks! You just answered my question regarding one of my sketchbook entries at the moment. I will use charcoal!!!
that looks so awesome I love can't wait to see more from the of this stuff
great video, I‘m excited for the videos on the other art mediums
You're great, keep going, I love your videos
I really enjoyed watching your process, the portrait came out amazing. I started out with charcoal pencils and blender so not nearly as messy. I need to revisit and try some of the willow sticks it looks fun.
I really like the beauty of adding and subtracting tonalities with charcoal. The Aragorn sketch came out beautiful.
Charcoal is so simple yet it allows you to create so much in many different unique ways and I absolutely love it! It's my go to medium to use during live drawing sessions 💖awesome video Slew 💪🏻 love the cinematography and art as always
Great video as always Slew! Since you mostly do 2d, I would love to see your approach on sculpting with clay in one of the next videos of this series. keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for starting your series with charcoal. This is a medium I've wanted to try for a while now. I got a special charcoal paper tablet put out by Strathmore a few weeks back. I've been hesitant to start because of the mess it makes. This video opened my eyes to some new possibilities and materials I hadn't considered before. The portrait was a triumph BTW. Thanks for the inspiration, Bro. 😊🙏
Thanks for this topic. It allows me to share with my granddaughter, who’s a freshman art student in college. She’s only recently been introduced to charcoal and this was helpful.
Great Video and I already love the idea of this series. ❤
Perhaps you could mention your own typical process and maybe also the common one e.g. watercolour working light to dark
That “basic process/rules” always help me a ton in the beginning and later on u can always break those and create your own process.
love you slew !
Great video. Just signed up for a session for me and my mom. 😊
Charcoal is great. I use it quite a lot alongside other mediums, or for sketching; I've only done one piece that was actually finished in Charcoal, however. I sometimes use it to scratch into wet oil paint if I feel I need to go back to the sketching stage on a part of the painting that isn't working.
Naw, excellent demo, my man. I’m gonna have to pick up my conté a Paris again. Super.
I love charcoal it’s my go to
I know you don’t like using ink but I think ink should be the last medium in this cool series
I resssspect it💯
Desde colombia ❤
Is it possible to take a not quite ideal portrait photo reference and add interesting shadow lines to create a more interesting reference, either with software tools or your imagination? Or perhaps with AI these days?
I'm a simple woman; I see Aragorn in the thumbnail and I click.
Prefer conte myself as its slightly less messy and comes in the same form factor as charcoal.
No need to change your mind, because charcoal is really the best for drawing (IMO).
I see bad friends, I give sub
I thought it was a drawing of John frusciante from the thumbnail 😅
I will give charcoal a 6/10, simply because it's so messy and it makes my eyes water like a faucet. It is so nice to work with though.
charcoal is annoyingly dirty and to frame papers is more expensive than stretched canvas. That's why i hate it.
