Wow what an impact narrow Ha is in this pic! With the rosette looking similar silver like the billions of pin point stars in this frame! Man your videos have just gone up ANOTHER level just now..! Love peace n clear skies from me in the UK to the backyard family 🌹👌
Fantastic image Trevor. Starting with a wide field is a great idea and continuing with it no matter which direction you take thereafter is also a great idea. For medical reasons, I'm going to downsize to a small set up, that way I can transport it to very dark skies about an hour's drive and besides, having the ability to capture large targets is appealing. Thanks for the intro and I like your new backyard, I foresee an observatory in your future, talk about a major morale booster. The thought of not having to waste all that time going back and forth, polar aligning, etc., just makes perfect sense to me. Before I do that I have to move, just as you did because my small backyard and neighbor's trees are choking off the night sky more and more.
Looks like another winner from William Optics. the wedge looks great at about $270 cdn. Thanks for another awesome video and tutorial. Certainly one of the best astronomy channels anywhere!
Stargazing with appropriate equipment has always been something I dreamed of getting into. Your presentation and demeanor really motivate me to get going with it. Thanks!
Okay Trevor, admit that you really bought the new house with the big back yard for Rudy. He seems to enjoy it so much. In the mean time i'm waiting for the retailers to get the Red Cat 51 in stock so i can pair it with my Canon 6D Mark 2 and Canon 80D , that is if it will ever stop raining here in the southern USA. Clear skies to you all
Wow... awesome image! I got on the kickstarter for the Redcat 51 a little late but still got a small discount. Can't wait to get it! More please with this setup.
I think this will be my third scope. I currently have an Orion 8” Newt which I love, but the wide field and quality optics of the Red Cat would be phenomenal. I had my first imaging session last night, the clouds rolled in around 9 and left at 10, so glad I kept my set up out. Imaged m42 and M3. Thanks for all your help, it was really easy. Also, in the AstroBackyard podcast you mentioned a special area of your RUclips channel that subscribers could join, however I’ve yet to find it. Thanks again, Trevor!
Very good overview of a RedCat 51 in use and great other vid on unboxing. Going to get one myself and thus looking for info. Thanks a LOT for your efforts!
Great video. I hope you do more with DSLR with the redcat or other lens. As a future beginner, I can't wait to give this a try. Lol doing overtime just to get ready to buy these things for my birthday next month. Hopefully they will be in stock
Finally got to see a WO scope up close; guy at my club bought a Z61 scope as his first scope, and man is it pretty. Really a fantastic, well thought out product, the built in baht mask is brilliant. Looks like they nailed it again w/ the redcat.
Looks like a great little scope and a very portable set up! Keep up the great work and next time you're clearing the deck of snow hit the steps too while you're at it. If you get hurt who knows how long it will be until we get new videos.
All right, Trevor! Good to see you getting some photons, been cloudy here in Phoenix. Hoping for clear skies next week after the full moon. Outstanding image! Say hi to Rudy
Forgot about my interest astronomy until I came across your videos! Not sure if you’re going for this, but I love the chef’s table style reveal at the end of the videos!
Looks awesome! If you wanted to use the deck, you could isolate a portion of the deck (add separate supports and cut it away from the rest of the deck).
Amazing results man.. would love to get this little scope down the line... hope your settling in to your new home,, have you thought about building a permanent Pier in the back yard ? would be awesome to have a steady pier to down your mount on to as , as you say the deck is not just solid enough.
If it just wasnt for all that post production to get those shots. I would gladly sit somewhere taking a 5 hour single exposure but all that stuff apart from actually taking the photo blows my mind
Great shot!! I am still thinking about the Ha plunge but am having too much fun with my 294MC-Pro. Even with Bortle 8 skies (Philadelphia area) I am always impressed what I can pull off. Thanks for the tips and inspiration.
I’m curious, it looks like you shoot from your deck? I would think any walking around or vibrations would transfer into the scope? Edit: 🤦🏻♂️ I should have kept watching until the end before I made this comment 👆🏼
Excellent! Man, I remember shoveling my 40 foot deck all the time until we moved from Boston to Phoenix! Now I shovel SUNSHINE! I'm saving until I have an extra $3000 to spend on an astro setup. Your vids definitely help me understand what's involved! Thanks!
Hi Trevor very nice video as always ! I see you're still using DSS for stacking and I wonder if you have heard about Siril. It's a free image processing software developped by a french guy that have grew in quality and features recently. It gives very good results as it's using most of Pix algorithms. You should give it a try someday. Happy stargazing
Great video, as others have effused, and please do create more content with this setup! I have the SkyGuider Pro and hope to add the RedCat 51, a lesser ZWO camera, the ASIAir, and a filter wheel soon, so anything you offer with the above kit is of interest to me -- thanks for sharing!
Yeah I’m a poor college student and I have a hobby for Astrophotography. Those things don’t mix well. But I fee the pain of having to shovel to set up your telescope. In Wisconsin it’s crazy. Just like Canada basically. Also we had a Super Snow Moon and got some pretty cool shots.
That's one of the awesome shots with minimal set up. Being new in this field, it's quite confusing to finalize what scope and mount to get into EAA. I am considering Redcat 51 with skyguider pro +ASIAIR plus and a decent dslr. However, with the complexity of polar alignment and hopping to multiple targets with skyguider pro seems challenging and time consuming. Would switching to skywatcher gti mount make the polar alignment easier ? Thank you in advance 🙏
Loved the video! It got me to try my 70-200 for astro for the first time. Then somehow I spiraled into what type of telescope to get for better images. Is the field flattener a requirement for the WO Z61?
Great, informative video. You do some impressive test work. Have you tried asteroid occultations with that set up? The drive could follow the star then just before occultation, turn off the drive to get the star trail, then look for a break in the trail due to magnitude reduction. Would be great to see a vid of the process. I'm currently trying it with fixed DSLR, but next will be with the Star Adventurer to track whilst setting up, then turn off the drive 30 seconds before the event.
Fantastic piece as ever thank you. I recently started Astrophotography, and am in the first stages,so you are helping me so much to learn, in what I find is one of the most fascinating hobbies you could undertake, if not the most fascinating one. If only I could get my hands on a RedCat 51. Any links or Ideas would be most appreciated. I also subscribed too thanks again from North Wales U.K
Great video and it looks like a great scope. The only issue I potentially see is swapping out filters ... you have to take the image train apart each time.
Absolutely awesome video. It is amazing what you can do when a full time job does not get in your way. That RedCat is stunning. Loved the time lapse of processing.
amazing image, I have the ioptron skyguider pro I am wondering how did get to shoot 4 mnts exposures without using any software for polar alignment did you autoguide? did yo u dither? I dont see you mentioning any of that and your image is absolutely amazing
Great channel! Came across your Andromeda Galaxy video, great! Hope your Dad is doing well. I am a beginner but have always been a big astronomy enthousiast. I have a Skywatcher Heritage 130p although I haven’t hooked up a camera yet, still have to figure out how. I did make a few great pics of the moon with it using my mobile. I’m considering this RedCat! Which software do you use btw to edit your images?
Hey Trevor. Long time subscriber. In fact got back into the hobby thanks to your videos. I know you’re a refractor man, but lots of us are still buying fast reflectors, like the f/4 imaging Newts mainly due to balance between visual(aperture) and fast imaging. Would you consider doing a comparison video between a 80-120 ED-Doublet and 180-200mm f/4 newt for Galaxy season ?
Wow what an impact narrow Ha is in this pic! With the rosette looking similar silver like the billions of pin point stars in this frame! Man your videos have just gone up ANOTHER level just now..! Love peace n clear skies from me in the UK to the backyard family 🌹👌
Oops! The Optolong Ha Filter is actually 7nm. I was 0.5 nm's off... :)
AstroBackyard how dare you 😉
WOW! that is amazing!
No pasa nada :)
AstroBackyard I can’t wait to do this someday! Gonna get me a mount and take pics like you
So If I happen to use that filter, my images would be monochromatic ?
Fantastic image Trevor. Starting with a wide field is a great idea and continuing with it no matter which direction you take thereafter is also a great idea. For medical reasons, I'm going to downsize to a small set up, that way I can transport it to very dark skies about an hour's drive and besides, having the ability to capture large targets is appealing. You certainly captured some of that extended nebulosity. very good choice of object for the Redcat, and great video.
man, 3 videos in 5d! I love your activity! Please try to keep it up!
Looks like another winner from William Optics. the wedge looks great at about $270 cdn. Thanks for another awesome video and tutorial. Certainly one of the best astronomy channels anywhere!

Nice video! I am a newbee to astrophotography. Rosette nebula is always a big challenge for me! Nice tutorial to follow! Clear skies!
Uhhh how I missed videos like that one! Final picture looks awesome! Keep up the good work! Greetings from Austria!
Really interested in the RedCat, excited to see more work being done with it! Great job as always man!
WOW man! What an outstanding view of Rosette Nebula! You obviously know what you are doing! Thanks for sharing! Chrees from Argentina!
Very good overview of a RedCat 51 in use and great other vid on unboxing. Going to get one myself and thus looking for info. Thanks a LOT for your efforts!
NGC2244 is the open cluster you see with the Rosette nebula. Great video! I use a VERY similar rig but I have the WO Zenithstar 73. Love it.
Great video. I hope you do more with DSLR with the redcat or other lens. As a future beginner, I can't wait to give this a try. Lol doing overtime just to get ready to buy these things for my birthday next month. Hopefully they will be in stock

Stunning and beautiful , so glad you have this channel and I’ve learned so much from you , can’t thank you enough man . Hope your sky’s are clear
Looks like a great little scope and a very portable set up! Keep up the great work and next time you're clearing the deck of snow hit the steps too while you're at it. If you get hurt who knows how long it will be until we get new videos.
Wow, 4-min subs, unguided at an effective focal length of 400mm. Respect! :)
Not only a full moon, but a Super moon... Even washed out the Orion Nebula in my binoculars! Such a beautiful object, but such a pain in the butt!
Been so waiting for your first light with this scope. Definitely not disappointed. That's a beautiful image of C49
All right, Trevor! Good to see you getting some photons, been cloudy here in Phoenix. Hoping for clear skies next week after the full moon. Outstanding image! Say hi to Rudy
That rig and that photo!! WOW!! amazing results.
I’m looking at the Redcat with a twinkle in my eye now.
Forgot about my interest astronomy until I came across your videos! Not sure if you’re going for this, but I love the chef’s table style reveal at the end of the videos!
Trevor your videography skills are growing leaps and bounds and your music is an excellent fit. 👍
As soon as you polar allign on a wooden deck and step away your pa moves. Nice gear!
Neat... I am glad that you were able to get your shots in.
very cool! I just got the red cat 51 and can't wait to use it.
Thx for the info
Looks awesome! If you wanted to use the deck, you could isolate a portion of the deck (add separate supports and cut it away from the rest of the deck).
Wow, I really enjoy your videos! Please keep up the good work and clear sky to you!
I've lived most of my life in the tropics, you said it's not that cold, minus anything is bloody freezing - you swept snow off of your balcony
Freaking awesome! Your videos are always fantastic. So pumped for the redcat51.
Your dog is having a blast in the snow good video Trevor
You do such a great job at educating us and transmitting your passion. Keep going and... merci beaucoup!
Amazing results man.. would love to get this little scope down the line... hope your settling in to your new home,, have you thought about building a permanent Pier in the back yard ? would be awesome to have a steady pier to down your mount on to as , as you say the deck is not just solid enough.
Can't wait to see how you do with this scope! It looks so good 😊
Very encouraging video! I have the Z61 that I bought after watching your review of the same and I must say, I am very happy with it!
Nice work, great nebula. I am gonna have a go at photographing it if we ever get a clear night here in the UK!
Nice Trevor. I love the portability of that setup.
It's a cool setup ☺
wow I was definitely not expecting that final result, splendid !
Excellent final result Trevor!
If it just wasnt for all that post production to get those shots. I would gladly sit somewhere taking a 5 hour single exposure but all that stuff apart from actually taking the photo blows my mind
Yes! the new house looks amazing for astrophotography! congrats dude
Thanks Henry! :)
Wonder if that tree is gonna stay.....
Your opening scene reminds me of the years I lived in Maine!
Great shot!! I am still thinking about the Ha plunge but am having too much fun with my 294MC-Pro. Even with Bortle 8 skies (Philadelphia area) I am always impressed what I can pull off. Thanks for the tips and inspiration.
Enjoyed the pictures and the technical details, really enjoyed the music!
OMG if the new wedge fits the star adventurer as well I need it. The wedge is currently my weakest link.
I think this will be my starter scope
Excellent video. The Rosette came out really good
I’m curious, it looks like you shoot from your deck? I would think any walking around or vibrations would transfer into the scope?
Edit: 🤦🏻♂️ I should have kept watching until the end before I made this comment 👆🏼
Very beautiful! But I was missing some great AK chillstep at the end.
This setup is as red as it gets. I wish I got this tracker so I could've done this.
Excellent! Man, I remember shoveling my 40 foot deck all the time until we moved from Boston to Phoenix! Now I shovel SUNSHINE! I'm saving until I have an extra $3000 to spend on an astro setup. Your vids definitely help me understand what's involved! Thanks!
Great image Trevor , looks like very sharp optics
Great demonstration. These videos are so helpful.

Wait.....Did he get 4 min exposures with that star tracker!!! That is Amazing mann!!!!
Great. Your very talented. I would know where to start. Fascinating images.

Amazing results, Trevor ! Give Rudy a hug or me.
Very nice Trevor. Great video!
That's one of the awesome shots with minimal set up.
Being new in this field, it's quite confusing to finalize what scope and mount to get into EAA.

Another great video Trevor.
Greetings from West Lincoln
Oh my! Well done mate! Love the final photo!
Wow. That is impressive. Great photo.
Good to see you shootings again, looking forward to more :-)
Wow amazing picture Trevor!!
Great picture and video. Well done!!! Greetings from Germany.
Luv new home with great sky view! Gorgeous ❤️ Luv this rig too
lovely home Trevor!
Amazing! Happy to see some beginner friendly content!
Good looking result Trevor!
Oh man 2 of my idol salute to you Sir!
Hey thanks Joe! Love Trevor's work eh!
Great video and it looks like a great scope. The only issue I potentially see is swapping out filters ... you have to take the image train apart each time.
My thought also... they maybe should have used a Baader style filter slide/drawer.
Poor Louisiana Puppy freezing up there. He looks totally happy
I use tie wraps and mount my polemaster to my sky guider
Awesome capture!!!! I want a redcat too :-)
Super cool video my friend ☺
Absolutely awesome video. It is amazing what you can do when a full time job does not get in your way. That RedCat is stunning. Loved the time lapse of processing.
Looks great, thanks for posting!
I know this video is 4 years old but man has ASIAIR made it so easy to do plate solving
amazing image, I have the ioptron skyguider pro I am wondering how did get to shoot 4 mnts exposures without using any software for polar alignment did you autoguide? did yo u dither? I dont see you mentioning any of that and your image is absolutely amazing
Stunning
Wow, what an amazing picture

beautiful bro love the work you put into these.
Now you will discover how much the deck flexes when you walk over it. :-) ....ah I spoke too soon :-)
Trevor, what was the spiral-bound book you used at 4:41 with the sky diagram in it? Looks like a good one.
Awesome! Do you edit your videos yourself? Very professional
Brilliant Trevor thanks for the great tutorials. What is that great astro book you used to show us the Rosette nebula?
The book is 'The New Atlas of the Stars' authored by Axel Mellinger and Susanne M. Hoffman. Published by Firefly Books Ltd. 2005
Amazing! That was beautiful. So what is the modification done to the Canon?
Hey Trevor. Long time subscriber. In fact got back into the hobby thanks to your videos. How about a video of how you processed the data from your camera. Nice shot.
Great picture
Hey Trevor! Greetings from central Indiana. Can you tell me what map you were using in the "I'm seeing Red" video? It looks like a good one!
