- My first time filming one of ESD’s new rapid rails.. yay… I’m a fan of these, not too much a fan on how they’re going to replace everything else besides the pakmors. I guess every new truck from now on will carry a blue stripe.
On monday, February 20th (Presidents’ Day) I was heading out to the Carmel valley area in search of new trucks. I found what I was looking for, the area where this was filmed isn’t far from trashman306’s place. I believe the same day he got 406 for recycle. Two heils in the area on recycle I guess.
Both crews in the area had a helper, they look alike but who knows. They were either being trained, or just being helpful pushing carts because of how tight the Cul-De-Sac’s are. This area is also one of the newer developed areas that ESD services. Making it a nice neighborhood to film in.
I hope some other time I’ll get more footage of these, pretty cool. I also wonder when we’ll get our first blue stripe rear loader.. or if they are even going to do that. I guess you can count this as “somewhat” semi-automated collection on Cul-De-Sac’s. Having the helper go out and push carts towards the trucks arm I guess makes it that technically. Pretty cool to see.
This definitely is not the last ESD rapid rail video you’ll see from me. I dig them a lot, I hope I can actually find this truck again sometime in the future, it’s squeaky arm kind of stands out. I hope after rapid rails we’ll get maybe curbtenders or something like that. Considering the greens cart rollout is happening, and the retiring of all older trucks is coming up fast.. we might need more of these, or maybe the amreps can hold up for a little longer. Again, curbtenders is hopefully the next truck they are going to buy.. would be pretty great to not only see rapid rails like the old days, but also curbtenders. (Yes, we had some back in the 2000’s)
I also hope I can manage to find the greenwaste rollout.. hmm. Anyways, enjoy this footage.
Oh, you might ask what the repeating clicky noise is? Well, my camera picks up the absolute slightest gust of wind and it sounds like that on the footage, but why so many in this video? Well, considering it was a pretty windy morning, and them going out of my shot, (basically making me move my camera to get the truck back in the shot) it also makes that clicky noise when I move it with gusts of wind. So, that question is answered.

they really made tackling a shit ton of sd routes a lot more difficult and longer
They sure did
next thing we need are wittkes w/carry cans then we know somthing is up
Awesome Video. The ESD Friday Route I Film On Hasn’t Had A Main Recycle Truck Since 397 Left The Route So It’s A Mixture Or Rapid Rails. 408 Subbed 332 Once on My Route.
You think they'll remain with quiet engines like this as opposed to loud screamers like the amreps
Good morning nice video brother glad to see the new truck came in time during the day
Woah ESD rapid rail woah?!?!?!
🤯
Excellent video bro I like this new truck.
Thanks!
Great video! Neat to see more footage of these, interesting seeing that tire at the 7:53 mark
Thanks, yea.. somebody put a tire in their recycling cart.. which isn’t even acceptable in a trash cart from ESD, a little uh-oh stinky moment there.
@@SDRefuse333 aren't they supposed to tag that?
@@BurrtecWasteMaster they didn’t see it
Nice video, hope I can film one in the future!
W, its the new weird autocar logo, makes sense as you said they are new in the desc, great video big bro.
Pretty new
Man i cant imagine what the Curbtenders would look like!? Or if they bought Front Loaders
Probably would look similar to phoenix’s. The city is sticking to carted, I doubt they will go commercial, or buy a front loader w/ curotto considering how tight the routes are.
Nice video! I hope I get to film a couple of these when i'm in san diego
Theres around 50 of them now. There was maybe 20-30 when i filmed it, so you may have higher luck. Look for diagonally placed empty carts.
@@SDRefuse333 Ok, I'll keep my eye out thanks!
im gonna miss the lid flipping amreps
Theyll be around for a few more years
@@SDRefuse333 a few more years 😹😹
@@WasteManagementOC at this rate it’s gonna be about 3 years till all of them catch fire and die 🤣
so they switched to blue? i like it alot better tbh
They did switch to blue, don’t know how long it’s going to be till we get our first new blue rear loader. I do too. I got used to it fast
@@SDRefuse333 that would be cool. are they ever gonna order another amrep tho? a blue amrep would be cool to see
@@LACRefuse not likely, Amrep isn’t doing good with them. Fires and hydraulic hoses snapping. And such.
@@SDRefuse333 Does esd even take good care of them?
@@LACRefuse yea. It’s just eventually they start falling apart. Fires come from batteries. Hydraulic hose snapping comes from wear and tear from Amrep being cheap now.
