Firstly , strongly agree that sv 171 should be extended to Tengah . I also feel that LTA would consider to extend Sv 174 and Sv 181 to Tengah as well as this enables Tengah residents to travel from their residences to Orchard/CBDs and Boon Lay areas conveniently . Secondly as for Punggol , LTA should introduce new services such as Express 510 and 968 . 510 is a full day express service which acts like a punggol version of 518 which plys Punggol and Sengkang estates to provide alternate travel for residents to city esp during weekends . 968 to provide connectivy for Punggol residents to Wooldands as well as a alternate travel to Yishun/Sembawang areas as well . Also , maybe can introduce Sv 164 plys between Pasir Ris and Woodlands , plying through Pasir Ris and Punggol before entering the expressway to join in 161 and 168 woodlands sector routes . This also enhances Pasir Ris residents too should they wish to commute to Woodlands and Sv 84 should renumber into a feeder service as well . Lastly , I would like to suggest Sv 8 and Sv 19 to extend to Tampines North to boost connectivity for residents to their respective destinations . I would also like to suggest a new route as well which sv 126 which plys between Tampines North and Changi Airport which plys Tampines North > Pasir Ris > Changi Airport . This service not only allows Tampines North residents to commute to Changi Airport as well as alternate travel to Pasir Ris but also to relieve the load of Sv 53 as well .
I heard theres plan for Service 181 to enter Bulim, since the sort called looping point gonna demolish and building into one straight road. I hope LTA consider Service 181 to enter Tengah Int (since got SBST office) and not reflecting Service 181 as JRL Rationalisation
Just like Punggol, Tengah is a brand new area so obviously it will take several years to be more / fully developed (especially including the upcoming Jurong Region Line) but don't understand why some residents are already complaining about the lack of transport amenities when it is new, for now they have 3 bus services which is already better than nothing. Speaking of Punggol, LTA also recently announced the opening of Teck Lee LRT Station on 15 August (finally!) after 22 years since built and 10 years of the West Loop in operation to serve the new SIT campus and the Digital District while Punggol Coast station is opening very soon (hopefully by November), improving connectivity and accessibility in the North-East region (which I am one of). More services will be introduced and amended to the new estates as they are starting to develop, so it takes a while. Quite excited about this new scheme and one month left to the handover of Jurong West Bus Package as well
Maybe would be nice if 167 can extend to woodlands via 858 yishun-woodlands sector. Then 858 shorten to yishun since 858's mostly SD fleet cant seem to handle the crowd well. Since 167 dh DD resttictions, by doing some route swap, 858 can increase frequency between airport-yishun sector and at same time capacity between yishun and woodlands can be boosted
Call me cynical, but I want LTA to prove their sincerity with actually improving the bus network, especially now that we the commuters are feeling the long term ramifications of the BCM. The first point sounds lucrative, but given how many convenient bus links were wiped out due to the "MRT first" mindset, it can just come off as them filling in holes they originally created in the first place. Especially in mature towns that will inevitably be neglected in favor of the upcoming new towns. Second point, I have a hunch this will be implemented half-heartedly, again due to the "MRT first" mindset (513 is a good example). I don't mind the return of Fast Forward or City Direct routes, but again, I'm not holding my breath cause it's very easy to just hit the bare minimum and call it a day. Third point, sounds good on paper, but why is it that only new towns get priority for filling coverage gaps? Using an analogy, it's like devoting all the time and care to your newborn child (understandable) at the expense of your other children, who also have their needs (not excusable). Sure, help the new towns, but also throw the mature towns a lifeline too. Fourth point, I will suspend judgement until we actually see one of these "express feeders" in action. It's still a very new concept, and the wording is too vague to properly grasp what they mean. Let me see how the prototype works first before I give feedback, this is the only way I can put it.
Damn the hatred for Tengah is crazy The whole estate isn’t even ready fully yet and tbvh, 3 services from Tengah is way more than enough considering all 3 buses have to literally pass by BBT(871 made themselves a scam by not stopping at Bt Gombak and 870 being able to transfer to 157/174 to Beauty World). For 171, the route going to Tengah seems like a possibility, maybe it may bring some benefits to ITE CW and Stagmont Camp to Tengah. I just hope the BCEP won’t backfire again. Whether it’s new towns like TPY East or Tampines North, at least such towns should get some links considering their connections are abit weak now. Prob some CDS should prob be implemented there, especially BBT West and maybe Tampines North, considering the fact 662 got itself withdrawn over DTL3. However I can 100% agree that Tengah doesn’t even need anymore services, having 3 bus services to feed their ppl to BBT is good enough, and 870 ain’t that slow(ppl saying 30 min rides will kill them are jokes). At best maybe a route from Tengah to CBD might be needed.
@@TIB1234T Due to their 'slow' and messy (for now) developments, Punggol was like this too in the last decade but not that bad since that area also already had bus interchange and rail system running since the mid-2000s before the housing and other amenities builts up
Might reduce frequency to 15 minutes (I hope) for the benefit of the commuters using especially those living in the North. At least they didn’t mention any withdrawals of 167 which is good, this is an ‘important’ and backup service in the event of disruption.
167 still seems to have lots of loyalists and a fair demand that won’t rlly screw the svc up even w TEL. I think 167 shld honestly stay although the route is long(just having 980 won’t do the job)

@@TIB1234T Just to clarify, 181 will be transferred to SMRT in September
More new services will be rolled out due to the BCEP as a result to reduce overcrowding on the MRT system and connecting new towns alike.
