Hey vloggy boy I recommend you make a video about the gold fields in Sydney, not many ppl realize there are gold fields in the sydney area, some in the blue mountains and other parts of sydney, haven't been yet myself, enjoy a sydney brothel while your here lol
Thanks Davo for your beautiful Sydney/Aussie videos! I was born on Crmorne Point 1937, grew up there, learnt to swim in the Macallum Pool (all rocks then, no cement or railings). Had to walk these walks to reach my music lessons every Saturday, by the ferry wharf facing the city (before the Opera HOue was thought of or built!)....; picnicked on rocks by the Cremorne lighthouse. Took ferries from Old Cremorne Wharf, to Mosman wharf to go uphill to Mosman Infants' school and then Mosman Primary...Lots more adventures playing on the rock (and in the wrecks of Japanese minisubmarines caught during WW II)...Lived on Cremorne Road, always barefooted we'd run downill to walk around Cremorne Point and swim at the pool - always by the TIDES - harbor water rushed through the rock-walls, with the tides....we caught fish, raced each other swimming along the 33 yards of water (the Macallum Pool was 33 yds. long!) THANKS AGAIN DAVO for fab videos! This from Helen Bailey Bayly, now in Troy, upstate NY, USA. I miss Cremorne Point!
Wow thanks for the amazing comment Helen, glad it brought back such brilliant memories of your amazing childhood. I do miss Sydney as well as i moved to Vancouver, Canada now. Cheers!
I was a study abroad student that got recalled to my home uni a month into the semester, and I made a point to go here on my last day in Sydney and the views did not dissappoint. Thank you so much for the advice and it was totally worth it
Love your video and I agree, Sydney is chock full of magnificent little inlets, bays and fabulous river systems all offering really lovely views. Whilst you are in Sydney, I recommend you visit the gorgeous isolated beaches within the Royal National Park down near Sutherland (the second oldest designated National Park in the world after Yellowstone) - there are some absolutely spectacular walks there but best to go with someone as people do get lost there. Also the silicon white sands and aquamarine waters of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world can be found at Jervis Bay (Hyams Beach) about 2-1/2 hours south of Sydney (near the gorgeous beach town of Huskisson). A trip to Sydney would NEVER be complete unless you visit the amazing Blue Mountains (west of Sydney - you can get the train to Katoomba). Once there do the amazing NATIONAL PASS WALK which takes you through fantastic sandstone canyons .... the Blue Mountains really is a World Heritage listed wilderness. Once again, go with a partner and take PLENTY of water. Sydney is a GREAT place to visit and an even better place in which to live.
Dear Davo, Very nice video of the journey to the McCallum swimming pool. I notice you descending the Jacobs ladder to the water's edge. As you are North American, I thought I'd say that Sydney Harbour reminds me of the Grand Canyon in the United Sates. Because, if all the water was removed from Sydney Harbour, you would find a landscape identical to the Grand Canyon; the both places being originally a river, which has eroded a deep canyon, after the passing of millions of years, (yes, Sydney Harbour met with the "Parramatta and other rivers" long ago when the sea level rose (worldwide) and so a harbour was made by the filling in of the "exposed part of the worn down landscape the river made. You probably already know all this, I was just commenting as you seemed so excited about your visit to the harbour on that day. I did not understand the similarity with the Grand Canyon (for example) until I stumbled upon an academic paper, when I was grown up. Have A Great Day.
Lovely. I watched this before I came to Sydney and now I'm staying in Mosman and the pool is just one ferry stop away. Off I go tomorrow! Thanks! Loving this city so far!
1:38 Finally a photo FROM THE WATER of the house at the Cremorne Wharf. It used to be a food shop, selling food to commuters and taxi drivers etc. It was not used for many years but was eventually sold (title) in about 1990. Real Estate agents did not show a photo from the water even then. From memory the house sold for about a million dollars but later public record show it was sold for more about 1,3 million, and later a lot more but then it sold for a lower amount (around 1.3 million again) -maybe it was a transfer of a Deceased Estate etc. Laterly it has sold for 2 million dollars. It is interesting to see the on bedroom 1 bathroom house's interior as it is VERY small, it of course has a very nice distant view of the entire inner harbour across to the city. It has the "luxury" of outdoor space too (a tiny back yard), with barbque facility - and a clothes line. Somewhere to sit out in the sun is a good thing at this house as there is "no balcony" sort of thing, the house would otherwise feel like an apartment. The back yard is private but not very secluded as hundreds of people pass by the backyard fence (and some buses) everyday. The interior does look like a 1930's commercial building, the back wall (where the buses go) is covered entirely in floor to ceiling mirror, which by bad designer, is supposed to make the place look bigger, but it is not strategic enough and it is just too much mirror. (I think). . I wondered if it could be lived in permanently I think not, even just for one person, in fact it is now let out as a holiday let. At the last sale price, this little house is the most expensive house (p.sq.m) of any house in Cremorne Point. . I listened to the presentation of the Swimming Pool retreat of this video and it is telling of a truly nice place to go swimming. Since I was ten years old in the 1960's I wandered around this particular area and was always delighted by the riparian aesthetic within such a busy city, a real haven. Only thing is that the presenter (feels he is preaching to the converted and so) utters the crucial place names and turning points of the area and path to the swimming pool, in terrible garbled pronunciation. He ought to have more confidence when speaking as most viewers are hanging on to every word he says, they wishing to go visit the place, his final destination. Have A Nice Day. delboy London SW1
Wow that is a great little hidden gem. Great view of the city too just as you had said. You do great camera work my friend - thanks for sharing loved this
I lived at Cremorne Point for a few years. Only a few minutes walk to the wharf, and as I was living well into Mosman Bay, about 20 minutes on the ferry. The best part was catching the ferry in the evening - by the time I got home, I was a thousand miles from work.
We stayed at Cremorne at Park Regis Hotel on our holiday. Sadly I never saw this beautiful pool. Thanks for sharing your video I enjoyed watching. Next time on holiday in Australia I will visit the pool.
Sydney's summer storms can be sudden and furious, with dramatic temperature drops after a hot humid sunny day and creates beautiful light effects. That one you filmed looked like a "southerly buster". Brings back childhood memories of excitement as the strong winds from the south-east that preceded the rains blew through our Sydney house banging shut our doors that had stood open all day trying to catch any cool air. The noise was terrific and we kids would run around like crazy trying to get wet and cool down with our parents yelling at us to get inside.

Wow! Amazing editing and great quality! I live nearby where you visited and you discovered some of us locals best secrets... shhhh... you earnt a sub and like!
Nice video mate, I'm doing a similar thing, luckily being from here, I know a lot of places, so I would say I have an advantage. Cremorne is a nice spot - try spit west reserve, not for from there :)
Hello inspired by your video. Looking to travel to Sydney and wanted to take the photo with the skyline behind. I think the ferry you took would give me that shot. Is that true? If so can you tell me which one you took the best time to take them. Where should I get down and looking for good lighting. Any insight will help.
That was such a lovely vlog! I love watching videos of my home town and finding out new things, like this pool! I'll definitely have to go explore Cremorne in the warmer months, it looks like I'll find heaps of tucked away spots :D Was it recommended to you through the hostel / a friend? Or did you find it yourself? Glad people let you know about the mispronunciation, got to say it got a little annoying after the last few times but I understand I mispronounce suburbs I don't know all the time :P
hahaha crenmore point, CREEE MOURN. I guess its fairly well hidden but most residents know about it because its a popular spot for the new years eve fireworks. I have lived here all my life.
