    You know I kinda understand him. He got burnt out or something. My dude had to mature at incredible young age, losing his entire childhood fighting sick villains, yet being unbelieveable brave for a 5 year old kid or so. He even lose his dad twice and spent years of his childhood without him. I would love him to be as strong as he can be but... if he doesn't want to have anything to do with fighting I can't blame him.

      Cinematic Galaxy they don’t even train. I’d like to see Whis pick them up as a project. Then sow that seed for a future arc say 5 years later. The whole time training under Whis. I don’t know Goku is some where else and Vegita vacationing in universe 6. Then parallel this with Gohan training hard as well. At this point maybe Frieza thinks he has a leg up while nobody is around to be greatly surprised. Better yet some how cell returns but secretly fighting in other universes. Maybe hearing about the so called next level. Trains and becomes a GoD killing that universes dude.

    My biggest complaint was always that a kid that literally grew up being trained couldn't maintain the discipline of training and growing stronger. I guess he took what Goku said way too literally about how if he stayed dead then they wouldn't have villians anymore.

    • @mattheffelfinger6093
      @mattheffelfinger6093 4 года назад +15

      @PKD Orion This further proves the point that he has grown up in these situations that you have to be stronger than the villian or else you lose everything. He lost his friends left and right, His father twice, even innocent people, and it seemed that by the time he defeated Cell, that maybe it was drilled into his skull, "Hey, I might be called on one day to save this world" but no. I'm not saying he has to have the Saiyan drive to fight, but that didn't stop Roshi from training, or Tien, or Piccolo. It literally seemed like he was like, "oh, no villians trying to kill us today, I'll train tomorrow." Rinse, repeat, skip 7 years.

      But Yeah,even with that,I see no point to Gohan stopping training with discipline to at LEAST MAINTAIN HIS POWER INCRIASING. He saw that It took He,Vegeta,Trunks(not there anymore) and his father(not there anymore) to takedown One Villain. He should've do his Scholar life,but keep the track on his training routine!

    • @christiancinnabars1402
      @christiancinnabars1402 4 года назад +3

      It was _because_ he trained as a kid and was forced to fight all the time that probably stops him from training now.
      Think of it as a form of PTSD: would you train at all if any time you threw a punch, you are reminded of all of your friends being murdered one by one, your dad getting his ribs shattered by a giant monster, and you being tortured and slowly killed by another monster in space?
      The mentality of "he trained as a kid, so he should train now" is unbelievably selfish. It's like if an underperforming boxer was revealed to have been heavily abused as a kid, and people just say "well he is used to being hit, so why can't he take hits now?"
      And no, Gohan isn't the only defender of Earth, and has never been since his birth. Every time a villain has appeared, either Goku or Vegeta(or both) have always been available to fight them.

    But fighting never was Gohan´s favourite thing to do. He did it in the cell saga because he had to. So it seems natural to me, that he didn´t train and got weaker. To say someone should have convinced him to train sounds wrong to me. For him to do something he doesn´t like that much.

    • @justinlynch3
      @justinlynch3 4 года назад +14

      Realistically there should of been a balance between Chi Chi pressuring Gohan to settle down and study, and Piccolo being a mentor and pressuring Gohan to keep training.
      Piccolo isn't a push-over like Goku was. In the build up to the Saiyans Piccolo kidnapped Gohan and forced him to survive and train for a entire year. It makes no sense Piccolo would just stand by and let Gohan go soft.
      So there definitely should of been a ying yang, a back and forth balance in Gohan's life between Chi Chi's lecturing and Piccolo's mentoring. Especially with Goku gone. Goku was the only one that ever usually tried to get Gohan out of the house. Chi Chi literally wants Gohan to have his nose in the books from morning to bed every day.

    Because the great saiyaman is truly who Gohan is, not who he was forced to be. Android saga Gohan was forced to become that. Gohan is a passive person & a reactive character. That’s why he’s not really main character material. I think we’ve done to death the story of someone who doesn’t like to fight but oh he has to because of the hidden potential cliche. Saiyans are warriors and the love of fighting is in their blood. That makes them active characters that seek out conflict and struggle. They make the plot happen.

    There's one huge factor that you never mentioned: Chichi. Chichi was always opposed to the idea of Gohan becoming a fighter.every time Gohan trained, he only did it because there was some upcoming threat. First the Saiyans, then later the Androids. Goku even said to Chichi at the beginning of the Android saga that after the three years of training, Gohan could spend the rest of his life with his nose in the book. Chichi probably forced Gohan to stop training and focus exclusively on his studies. And without Goku there to push him in the opposite direction, any of Goku's friends who tried to reach Gohan and get him to keep training we're probably rebuffed by chichi.for all we know, he may not even have had contact with any of them during the seven year time skip. I think you really should have mentioned chi chi in this video.

    I mean, give the guy some slack. Cause people need to remember that a crucial part to Gohan was his humanity and pacifism, that he never wanted to fight. Match that with the overwhelming power he had at such a young age, where nothing on Earth could touch him, nothing from space for 7 years could touch him, like how much power did he really need? Gohan was living the life that he had trained hard to get, where it was peaceful, he could impact society positively through more means than violence. I liken Goku & Vegeta to being hardcore bodybuilders & Gohan just a lean, fit, good looking guy. Like, if that's your thing do it, but otherwise it was unnecessary.

  • @mirrormoveuchiha

    Yeah, I just think DBZ at times has bad writing, as much as I love the show, there are a lot of things that could have been better. I mean, people are gonna argue about it, but I don't even think Toriyama drew Gohan against Dabura correctly IF he intended Gohan to be Super saiyan 2 in that fight. So, if he was Super Saiyan 2, he was still holding his own against Dabura. If Dabura was Super perfect Cell level, then thats not too bad on Gohan's part, and maybe could be explained by him slacking off in mental and physical training to the degree that some of his "potential power" couldn't be easily accessed by Gohan with intense anger like he had to have previously in the serious in those burst rage moments. But if Dabura isn't Super Perfect Cell level and Gohan is SSJ2, then Gohan got way weaker than I would have thought he could by just not training for seven years, considering he grew into a more capable body for fighting and his potential had to grow, regardless of how easily accessed it was considering he was still capable of going to his Super Saiyan 2 state with little struggle at the tournament against a fighter he didn't hate, or wasn't enraged by in order to achieve it. If Gohan was only Super Saiyan against Dabura, then it makes Gohan look good, regardless of how strong Dabura is compared to Super Perfect Cell and means that Gohan really didn't get much weaker at all if any, but only lacked going to his highest level of power... for some odd reason... or that he simply didn't have the anger to access all his power... even though two of his friends were effectively "dead", turned to stone... idk this show has bad writing and fans of it are way more passionate about it than the writers.

    Gohan is a weak character. Not as in the show, but his arch finished after cell, the only thing for him to do after that was surpass his dad which he has stated himself he has no interest in doing. I like where he is now in super, he's as powerful as he should be, about ssg or slightly higher. That's how powerful he should be. I mean arguably if super or GT never happened he would of ended the series as the most powerful because ultimate gohan was stronger than ssj3 Goku, at least that's what I remember thinking all that time ago, I remember watching Goku and vegeta Vs kid buu and was just like man buus really lucky gohan is dead right now

    Saying that Gohan slacked on training, that's an understatement. After Cell games, Gohan did not have any training ever. Not a single one throughout the 7 years. No wonder he got a lot weaker. Also Gohan cant quite use Super Saiyan 2 form. He did but barely and after that, there were no longer any SSJ2 from Gohan.
    I do believe the reason SSJ3 Gotenks din't take the W is probably because then the whole Elder Kai's ritual would be wasted. While Gohan did receive the massive power boost from the ritual, it isn't quite earned. I do have a feeling that Toriyama have felt that too (about the whole power up is not earned thing) so Gohan didn't get the W. (and so the ritual got wasted after all)
    Toriyama is quite the impressive writer given how he makes up the story as he goes around and still manages to make quite the fun story of Dragon Ball. However whenever Toriyama makes some (major) changes in his story or change the direction, his story may start to fall apart. For example in Cell arc, Toriyama had to change the villains a couple times because his former editor complained. This did not bode well for the Cell arc.
    In the Majin Buu arc, Toriyama have often changed the direction in his story and those changes have resulted the concepts and characters being wasted in this arc.
    I would say that Toriyama's writing style din't do him any good in the last two arcs.
    I am pretty sure that Geekdom101 did watch the Dragon Ball Dissection. And i am sure of that cause i saw his comments in those videos!

    One thing you neglected to speak about Geekdom, Gohan hates fighting. He didn't want to grow up to be a martial artist, he wanted to focus on his studies. He only fought because he felt he had to, or was forced to. I believe the Z-Warriors understood this. The respected Gohan's wishes and didn't beg or make him train. If you think about it, the same thing could be said for Future Gohan too. Why he was so weak despite having 17 years to train for the androids. Android that's Vegeta was able to man-handle with FOUR years of training. Gohan didn't fight out of pure sport or passion, he did it for necessity. And that hampered him really badly.

Look at all the child actors, does anyone really want Gohan to break under the pressure set upon him for being the "Universes greatest figher"? Goku can carelessly carry that title and Vegeta takes pride in it. For Gohan, it was never anything more than a curse

    Unlike vegeta and goku, Gohan isn’t of the warrior race or mindset. Half-Saiyan sure, but he his power has always peaked in a response to a need. That theme never changed. The only need in 7 years of peace was stopping petty criminals - hence the Great Saiyaman. He trained for that.
