- Bank Error in Our Favor - Bill Searching for Fancy Serial Numbers and Star Notes
Searching $1000 ($10 Bills) and $1500 ($5 Bills) for Star Notes and Fancy or Cool Serial Numbers! I picked up $2,500 worth of federal reserve notes from local banks hoping to find more star notes and/or fancy serial numbers in these circulated stacks of bills. We ended up SCORING a $20 Note among the $5's and a very nice RADAR note as well!
I hope you enjoy this bit of bill hunting with me.
Do you check your bills (money) for fancy or cool serial numbers? If so, what denominations do you hunt most? What is your best serial # score or your oldest bill found?

The last note of the last strap was a date note. 04271887
Hey Rob, at 9:45 the G7 has a * after it, what are the meaning of those. Just saw if while you were scanning through and didn’t know if it meant anything.
Kyle Winnett I’ll recheck the bill but I think it’s just a spot and not a star.
RobFindsTreasure I looked at it closer and I think your right. Lol I’ve been locked indoors too long and I’m seeing things
“Bank error in your favor! Collect $15!”
monopoly
Be a thief, and keep it. Or have some ethics and return the $15 to the bank. I wouldn't hesitate to return it. Tellers get fired over errors like that.
@Chad Klaren if he returns it, the teller gets fired. are you a clot?
Monopoly in a nutshell
Just happened to me long story but they sent me a check for 5k to make up for it. More power to me!
*I keep all star notes whether they're rare or not. I think they're really cool.*
3:14 save that one for 6,780 years and you got a birthday note
SAVE ANY NOTE THAT LONG AND YOU GOT A KEEPER
Craziest thing happened to me today. I went to the ATM to take some money out, and by no means am I currency searcher. Like I’ll check the numbers on my bills I get in change, but I don’t really go out of my way to look to much. Well I take 80 dollars out and I get 4 crisp 20 dollar bills that seem to be sequentially numbered. They were in MINT condition, and all of them were trinaries. I took some more out after seeing that. Wound up with 8 trinaries, 1 binary, and 2 star notes that were all crisp as can be. The majority of them are sequentially numbered too. I was stoked and I will definitely be searching my currency more in depth.
That’s neat
4:11 Back to back serial numbers !!!
Oml yeah you're right
What
it is happening every day in US like that since I was working with the bank.
Roman Botansky no there is a six next to the A instead of a five
HOLY shit! the chances of that happening... legit
Thank you for your time and I appreciate you how you take your time to explain the value of the money.
I too search thousands of bill every year. Most times I don't make videos, but now and then I'll throw the search on my channel or live stream a search. I've found the wrong denomination in my favor a few times and it was returned to the bank. Not only does that improve your relationship with your bank, but in many cases a simple act such as that will give tellers incentive to give you a call when they find something interesting. Most tellers know what to look for, but oftentimes they don't all invest in what they find. Just a thought. Great video!
I work in a bank and today I had a woman exchange 65 singles for 3 20s and a 5. 64 of those 65 singles were 1957 series (A and B included) silver certificates, 3 of which were also star notes and all of them looked largely uncirculated. I bought 30 of them just for the cool factor and let a few other people exchange with me so they could have some of them as well.
Well what happen, did you make any money?
@@josepharsanis20 I still have them in a box with all my other bills and coins
I like your channel, very informative. plus your voice is awesome! Its so easy to understand sped up to the max playback speed.
Hello sir, I have a question for you. What is the value of a 2005 P Kansas quarter with the Bison error and the Rust error? Thanks for any information.
just wanna say I appreciate all of your time and effort in making your videos. I enjoy being in the hobby because there is no minimum or maximum or wrong or right way to do it. I look forward to more of your videos and love your enthusiasm.
Nice find I really like the old designs especially on the 20 dollar bill
👍 Oh YEAH!! Time Lapse TrippN😂Almost felt like I was getting HYPNOTIZED there LOL
Just some quick questions as you are moving through those bills so quickly....Is it ONLY serial numbers you are looking at? How do you move through them so quickly? Are you considering miscuts or bleed through or anything? I am a beginner....and it takes me a good 30 seconds/bill. What can I do to be faster? What is it that you focus on in order to move as quickly as you are able to?
Great video Rob I love how the music matches to every time you flip to the next bill!
Jacob Gonzalez Coins- I believe that you might be just a "little" too much into searching for error coins and bills? Hahaha! Good luck!!! Will the bank accept unwrapped coins? How much trouble is it to get bulk coins from banks? I've heard that it can be a hassle. What about all the coins that are no longer wrapped up? Some places will weigh the coins to get the amount. Please let me know what is the best way to proceed. Thanks
This has started my new hobby and now its an obsession! , really cool video I was hoping you found more ! good information thanks man I didn't know what a "radar bill" was until now sadly.. keep the vids coming!! ...n as always stay happy and healthy!!
Love the videos!
Just found a 1974 Minneapolis printed $20 in the trash from a house getting cleaned out!
Jake Marino who the heck throws away 20 dollars
????
@@RealAntek I collect local memorabilia for my hometown and surrounding towns, and have been garbage picking an old house that's being cleaned out. Found a pamphlet from a neighboring town bank and it happened to be inside!
Jake Marino awesome!
Was that $20 that you found in a roll come from a bank? And if so, doesnt the bank have a bill counter? How would it let another bill slip? Wouldnt it notify the banker?
That was fun!
Hopefully you took out 2 more 5's to make that stack 100 5's just in case you bring it back to the bank wrapped!!
Have a GREAT Day!!!
Rob, can you do a two dollar bill hunt next?
Why you donot tel peaple what website look for price and information you only care for your s
@@asgharkhatibi1560 whaaaa
Rob that 2013 $1.00 star note is part of a series that was printed twice . There is a place to register it and if the match is found it’s off to the auction for you.
that one dollar bill star note you showed at the end (2013 (B) NEW YORK FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE ) ISNT THAT ONE OF THE DUPICATE BILLS THAT WAS PRINTED IN WASHINGTON IN 2014,THEN SAME BILL PRINTED IN FORT WORTH IN 2016?
Nice profit find!!!! I have a Canadian $20 bill with Seiral number FSF 8884888 a double radar LOL
Hi Rob..I did not have the sound on, however, I noticed quite a few birthday notes I would have kept, yet you kept none..am I missing the point on the birthday notes? REALLY like your videos and content..
Isn't it funny how when searching we don't (I don't) see these bills as "valued money" like, ooh a $10 dollar bill! Nope, it's just, dang, no star note, serial numbers wrong...and just keep going haha 😄
This reminds me of how happy I was when I found a silver Rosie dime in a roll of Mercury dimes.
Oh, wait...
Can you help me out some? I have found a 100 dollar bill with the serial number 21221211. The bill has 3 noticeable creases one very small tear so it's not perfect by any means. My question is about its value?
Finally getting something back for all the pennies you get in half dollar hunts and the like!! Way to go Rob. 👍❤️
8958960115
Not too shabby man! Very solid $20 bonus!
Silverpicker $15
I bet he placed it in there when he turn off the camera
I lover your channel
What does it mean when you find a star note on a 20$ that looks like the star note on a 50$ but a bit smaller not by the serial number but right under the United States of America?
Could you specify a little more, I might be able to help
All day long... I can watch bill hunting. Its mesmerizing... Or, are you using some sort of unconscious subliminal messaging...in between each bill...? Why do I feel compelled to eat Mac & Cheese or Chicken in a Basket Crackers? No wait... I must get a membership... yes... membership... LOL. Thanks, Rob!
Patrick Mooney 🤣
I lost a 20$ bill when i was a kid
and found a 20$ bill when i was older :D the universe evened it self out
No, you lost interest and suffered inflationary affect loss. FAIL !
You gotta look for some change in exchange for inflation
Haha 😄 Epic
I sold a $20 Note, serial # 00000001 for $5100+ on eBay years ago. Ah, the good old days...
I found a 10 dollar star note with 64,000 print run and run size how much do you think it is worth I sold it for 250 dollars on ebay
Thanks for sharing. I found out one of my star notes is very rare from the link you shared! A ten dollar bill with 128,000 run size and total print of 1,280,000.
I started to collect the star bills years ago when a friend asked me if I ever saw any. He said they are not spacial except the mint made a mistake with the serial numbers, but not valuable. Since then I have saved star bills to give to the grand kids for their banks ( birthdays ect, ). I have collected (15)$100, (23)$50, (247)$20, (768)$10, (326)$5, (87)$1 Notes. Thanks for the links. the grand kids might not be receiving any more stars for a while, HA HA HA. I also try to track my bills if they are registered on a web site.
Hi, I just stumbled on here, but about 2 years ago I ordered 100 $2 bills from the bank. They are uncirculated. Oh and they’re all star notes. How long should I hold onto hem? And of course they’re consecutive
if you zoom in real close you can see it’s a twenty and then think about it and you see he is making MONEY!!! HAHA
Idk why but this stuff is very entertaining
Achievement passed! Bank Error: Rarity: 1.39% Legendary
Rob are collecting/submitting your Née York B 2013 Star notes that were a duplicated mint error? The Zegers/Winograd project… I have about 40 of the banknotes now and I’m unable to submit on my iPhone . I’m also 72 this year and I am unable to create a spreadsheet . Would you have any suggestions for me on how to create a spreadsheet ? Thank you Bob
I am and am named in that project
Some 2017 star notes are in sheets very low run. Will those go out in regular circulation. Or are they sold in sheets
Ok Ron I have a ❓ on serial numbers is there anything about all odd numbers or even numbers
Enjoyed the bill search bro. Hope these searches become a regular part of your video content!
When I was in the Navy; down in ships laundry we used to press paper money and it would come out looking like a brand new bill. Give it a try, iron paper money with steam(that’s important) and see for yourself.
Perfection47 you can but every grading company can spot that and what looks like a good bill is deemed altered and “ungradeable.”
Sooooo, is this your way of confessing to money laundering during your time in the service 😳
Nice finds Rob! I only gotten two old series notes in circulation in the last 10 years and they are getting harder to find. I always keep the ones I find in circulation.
Thanks Rob.. Looks like I will be Dreaming of Money and Large Bills
Cool Rob. Thank's for sharing. I come across quite a few star notes at work. Most are not rare. I'm wondering if you can sell lots of not rare notes. Maybe if I build straps I can move them for a profit?
For sure. It’s what I do.
Hello ,I'm new and learning. Would like to know where I can purchase the mat you have. Please reply!
My mom has a 2 dollar bill and she wants me to get it looked at where would you say is a good place to get it checked?
When I put your serial numbers into the star lookup tool on my phone (same website), I get slightly different results. Why is that?
Hi Rob, the B 2013 dollar,, the serial number is in range for the 2014, and 2016 repeat print. ( Federal Reserve Duplicate Print Error ) Have you heard of the site matching the duplicate dollars, sure ya have, just checking. Thanks for all the information and getting us excited about starting our new hobby.
One of the serial numbers in the $10 stack began with JF. It was the only JF in the stack. Is this significant at all?
A few weeks back I took a bunch of cash out just to have on hand. Think I’ll do a bank note search myself and see what I can find!
Midwest Coin Hunter hey Midwest good luck on winning that penny box battle against rob
Lots of FUN, Thanks for the Education...
So cool! It's like treasure hunting! I must try this out myself~
Cool job on the $20. I should ever be so lucky. I collect star notes for 2013 for the year my grandson was born. I got his brother on bills but silver certificates. Not a lot yet for either boy, but they have fun. Never have been lucky enough to come up with a bill other than what was supposed to be in the wrap. Heck even a dollar short once in one wrap. If you're interested in selling your 2013 star please let me know or we can trade something. Don't have a lot to work with but it's the fun of it that they like. Thank you very much. Good luck to you. Marge
Hi Rob, we see you add to your collection all the time, I'd like to see a video of you showing those collections.
Should I keep my 1977 $100 bills
I got 10. 50$, Bill's in mint condition with consecutive serial numbers. Only 1 number different. Worth anything?
Makes me want to get a bank tec scanner and run at 600 per second and review in excell and use a Marco to sort...let me know when you want to automate. I would love to develop a polynomial that pridicts the value. Where can I find a dataset.
Rob, i am glad you are keeping those $1 and $5 Star notes it is very hard to find notes like that with there print runs respectively
If you still have your star notes.. go thru them and look for ( 2013 $1 B star notes). If you happen to find some I would love to hear from you. PLEASE CHECK. Thank You Donna
Why was the $10 with 777 in the serial noteworthy, but the very next bill showing 888 not? I'm new to this and am hearing how sought after 8s are, so was it bc the 7s bill was trinary?
I’m not sure if you mentioned it, but what could you possibly get for the five dollar radar like that one that was in good condition?
Is it better search new or old bills
Was lucky to find a low serial number in pocket change!😁
Nice bill search and finding a $20.00 bill in a strap of $5.00 bills is what you call easy money :)
So do you sell the money back to the bank that you don't keep or what do you do with the none keep money
Rob, would a note ($5 in this case) with a serial number with NO repeated numbers (8 unique numbers), be worth anything more than face?
Are they in numerical order?
@@FirstLast-hk4qt No particular order, I just never see any of them anywhere. It caught my eye, though. But I also dont hunt bills so they might be more common
@@ethancundiff6422 Unfortunately no, if you do the math, assuming a random 8 digit number, 1.8 percent of bills have no repeating number.
@@FirstLast-hk4qt Thanks!
Wow that was fun to watch thanks for sharing 🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍
You almost had a birthday note in the first strap of 5s too.
Found a 22228222-1 dollar bill today but it’s ripped with tape.. I’m gonna keep it but wondering if it was good condition what’s the possible value?
I got a 20 dollar starred note from 2017, is it worth keeping? Please respond
Amazing and very educational video, thumbs up.
Lol love how he has $1000’s of dollars but decides to say its not enough lol
This looks like a frequent activity of yours. So how do you manage all this cash after you've picked through it? Do you exchange it for more cash? Does the bank mind this frequent changing activity. Or do you have to go to a different bank?
Yeah I got 20$ trinary with a cool serial. Looked it up and came back 97%very cool
With some disappointment in his voice..."It's only a dollar bill" - Turns out to be the best find of the day! If we only knew ;)
Do you recommend getting a rare star note graded?
*I like the small heads the most.*
Is having several bills in sequence valuable?
Not sure if someone already mentioned but the $1 star note you checked, you looked it up as a 2013 note but it is a 2003 note. Run it again.
Awesome hunt Rob- congrats on the finds!
Great video Rob! Informative as always.
I have one hundred $2 bill with stars in series how much does it worth
Not possible to get another bill in a strap because all im going to say is when I worked as a banker the machine does not let the strap keep going if there is another bill and then you have to restart the “strap” and after that you have to have it checked twice by another employee. Whatever bank you went to would be out of business if you had that happen
Does it add to rarity if the old 50.00 all the numbers in serial number when added equal 50?
This was good. I loved the background music. It went perfect for this hunt.
Perfect pace for me to follow along, thank you!
Thanks for the info as always!
how do i get that sheet you have with what worth money
Cool thing about that 2013 B* $1 at the end, they accidentally printed those serial numbers twice. The smaller 250k print run was printed at DC, while a larger 6.4 million print run (B1*-B06400000*) was printed at Fort Worth. Yours looks to be from the more common Fort Worth printing, but because of the duplicate serial error, it's still pretty cool. There's a chance someone has the same serial number from the DC printing and you could match them up!
I’m a barber and I’ve found over $500 in $1,$5,$10,$20&$100’s plus I keep the small faced bills also:)
Great video Rob! Love these!
Do the things written in ink hurt the value and if so how do you remove the ink?
after watching these videos, i had started checking some old dollar bills that were just lying around the house and i had found a rare web note that was valued at forty dollars if in mint condition. unfortunately it looks like it had been passed around at least a hundred times, so the value is probably worth just a dollar, but now i'm fascinated by this stuff, not for buried treasure, but for the hunt itself.
Hi Rob! I hope you and your family are safe!
i spent a 00000711 newer $20 the other week.. it is what it is... i like the 100 or less myself.. and the star notes.. great Vid!!
Lincoln looking in only one direction, you know what happens when you don’t turn around
Thanks for info crisp clear ,have a good one
Just bought a 1957 1 dollar silver certificate star note heavily circulated, bought it for 1$. Thought I did good with that
That is an excellent buy!
@@RobFindsTreasure I won it at auction for 2.15 plus 2.60 ship, and used ebay bucks to get it down to 1$.
I got 2 of those '57 silver certificates, I wonder if they are worth at least $10 a piece
