Stranded in the Desert - I Went Off Course

- Race Day with Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) near Lovelock, Nevada. I have never done anything like this! We lead our class for over 200 miles before I slipped off the course and ended up stuck in the snow. We nearly got out a couple of times, but ultimately ended up in a worse situation. Thank you to Brian, Kelly, and the whole Class 1 #111 team for the opportunity and the hospitality!!

Nice job finishing with all the problems you encountered . 1 thing about the car,... ditch the Super Trap exhaust,... it's a horsepower KILLER ! Tie the 2 headers together to a single muffler with a heat shield over the gearbox,.. you'll gain horses ! Car was a winning unit when Doc Miller had it,... we ran the FUD Series,... Plaster City, Superstition Lake,... all fun stuff . Good luck with your racing ! Steve W.

I remember when I was running spray-foam insulation we had cellophane layers on the visor. Tabs on the edges. Get too boogered-up to see, peal off a layer and you're like new again. You guys might get some good from a system like that.

Was it possible to take the spare tire and put it in front of the rear wheel the drive over the tire and the stump at the same time?
I think front fenders would improve the ability to drive that thing about 99%!

There's something more exciting about rubbing paint, tires, and fenders. I agree, the oval is more exciting to watch, but I bet either one when participating ins intense.
They're both cool in different ways. Dirt racing is more intense, more slide jobs, more sparks, etc but the technical side of desert racing makes it fun! It's a longer chess game than a 40 lap feature

Surprised they run those tires. I can see why you'd end up in the pickers in snow or mud. A nice alterrain like a BFG or general grabber I'd think would be the tire of choice.

Do they not allow the rip off clear plastic helmet layers for better sight if you get them dirty?
They do, but water actually gets behind those so you have to remove them all after the first puddle anyway. They work well for dust and mud, but not water

Water gets behind and between them. They wouldn't have helped in this case. Plus they really frown upon using them in the desert

@@dubious6718 Totally get that. I once knew a farmer whose fields back onto a dirt track. 20 years of picking tear offs out of his picker heads and fields.
Trash reasons, and because water just gets behind/between them. They work well for dust and mud, but not water
