Sunny's parents are the culprits for covering up the cover up. I adamantly believe that Sunny and Basil didn't get away with squat. They thought they did, partly because of how thoroughly Sunny repressed his memories, but they didn't. Mom and Dad knew. And because Sunny's mom couldn't bear the thought of losing both children, she made his dad better cover up the truth. Which he did, but dear Dad couldn't see his wife or child the same way after that and left the house forever not long after.
Sunny and Mari had that argument because of the violin. Basil came up with the idea to get Sunny the violin. Aubrey brought Basil into the friend group. Sunny and his friends brought Aubrey into the friend group. Mari is the reason Sunny got those friends. Therefore, Mari is to blame for her death! (This is a joke)
I really like your take at the end, I think you make a great point about blame. Imo blame for something isn't just a thing that you always just can place on one person (both in OMORI or in life in general): it's a pretty complicated interaction of a lot of different factors that many different people contribute to in their own way. I think OMORI does a really good job of showing this idea off, so you can understand how both Mari's perfectionism and Sunny's frustration and other factors you brought up in your video all led up to the Truth incident.
@@JJC_Games I think at 12, normally you’re starting to get what death is, but you’re still don’t grasp the consequences for EVERYONE involved, and how dying in a certain way can matter. Super late to the conversation but I do think about how there is no one person to blame. As someone with a younger sibling who wanted to do music with me, I could relate to Mari more than the average person and want to speak about it. Although Mari wanted Sunny to practice to extreme amounts, I feel like Mari didn’t take into account the age difference between them. Mari was around 16, someone who’s mature enough to know their goals, wants and is willing to practice much harder than the average 12 year old boy. Frustration from having someone not having the same passion as you is very hard, especially when they seemed excited to. But Mari likely took it to the extreme, lashing out. Sunny didn’t mean to but he couldn’t take it anymore. I feel like you were a little too harsh on Mari (but that just cause I love her so much) A bad and irreversible mistake was made but Sunny is the one that has to carry the truth with Basil
in my opinion all of them should be blamed for what happened sunny for throwing the violin and pushing Mari down the stairs Mari for being a perfectionist (and possibly yelling at sunny because of a mistake if I was sunny I would say I regret playing with you and putting the violin on the top of piano and never talk to her idk why I'm saying this let's just move on) and basil cause you know....that and the parents also because they didn't do jack shit (and possibly favoring Mari)
Mari was definetly their favourite. This is even alluded in Black Space. Sunny's Dad certainly lost any reason to stay with them after Mari's death. He did not forgive Sunny for his mistake. (Yes they knew)
