I was not prepared for how amazing Looking for Alaska was. That was never my fave John Green book. But the show just made me love that book so much more. The way it added to the story was just perfect.

I was just minding my own business watching youtube videos when an ad for a tv show comes on. The longer it goes on I'm intrigued I watch the entire thing without pressing 'skip'. And then the title screen comes up and it says 'Looking for Alaska'. I was shook. It was such a pleasant surprise. I didn't want to get my hopes up after Paper Towns but now I HAVE to watch it.
I read Looking For Alaska soooo long ago that i decided to reread after watching and was so pleased with how it both stayed true with the story while expanding so wonderfully! And Fleabag Season 2...can not WAIT to hear your thoughts.
LFA focused SO much on the individual characters which is why I LOVED IT SO MUCH. and how perfect was the scene when miles and alaska finally got together and "i will follow you into the dark" played omg the nostalgia
The Legend trilogy used to be my absolute favourite series when I read it years ago, and it still holds such a special place in my heart. I'd love to read Rebel, but I remember almost nothing about what happened during or at the end of book three (I have a useless memory, haha) .. Does it have a sort of recap of what happened in the last three books within Rebel? or would it be worth re-reading Champion? As always, great video Christine!.. I'm adding lots of these films + books to my list!
I just ended reading Rebel, and I didn’t need to reread Champion, it does kind of hints to things in the past so it is not necessary. It really brings an end to the story!

Frist 2 seasons are out and the 3rd season is hitting in January and it is flat out amazing. Has touched on so many important subjects. And is full of wonderful characters. You will love it especially season 3 which has just been truly special.
Yesss I loved the adaptation of Looking for Alaska so much too and agree with everything you said!! I've watched it twice already 😂I'm so used to being disappointed by adaptations, but with this it was so clear how much the creators loved the material and wanted to do it justice. It somehow managed improved on an already beloved book. So, so, so happy with it! If more adaptations were this good, I would feel excitement instead of dread every time I heard a book I love was being turned into something 🤷🏻♀️
In October I watched all of the seasons of Schitt’s Creek that are on Netflix and I am caught up for the final season. I think you would like it, I loved it so much and I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s just so so so good! I’ve already rewatched most of it. Also, I reread fangirl recently and it’s so much better a second time. 💛 🖤
About Zombieland: Double Tap, maybe it's just me but I'm impressed about how fast they made the movie, they shot it in a little over 2 months, got the editing process done in under 7 months and got it out last month, that is a wild pace for a big film like this. Also Taika Waititi is working with Sterlin Harjo on a TV Show that's gonna be on FX titled Reservation Dogs, about a group of boys who live in a Native American housing project and I'm hyped for it

I also loved Looking for Alaska!!! So much!!!!! But the only thing that bothered me all through the series was the way they portrayed Miles and Alaska's relationship as being more than it was. They kept trying to push romantic scenes on them and it felt really wrong. Alaska didn't have time to see Miles as something more than a friend. I always envisioned her as having a mind that goes a thousand miles an hour and she had her boyfriend and drinking and the colonel and her traumas and Miles was a really small part of that. It's something I adored about the books. It gives you the hard truth instead of a cookie cutter fairytale, and I think the series tried to Hollywoodise it a little bit. Other than that 100/10!

The LOOKING FOR ALASKA adaptation is an example for how a book adaptation should look like. Really, it was SO GOOD.
