I didn't expect it. Starting from a rock is actually pretty simple if you know how to pump and you are familiar with dock starting.
Follow my 5 Steps DRILL and you'll be able to rock start at the first session too. But be prepared, because this will be the beginning of a new era for you. In this series, I’m documenting my journey into pump foiling with the goal of helping beginners like me return to the dock, pump longer and further in any condition, and start from anywhere, so that in a near future we’ll unlock together the full potential of this discipline and explore the beauty of the world on our tiny body-powered boards.
Current set up:
- Board: 2020 North Scoop 120x46x4.5cm 15.3L
- Mast: Axis 19mm Aluminium 82cm
- Fuselage: Axis Red Short Fuselage 680mm
- Front Wing: Axis PNG 1310
- Rear Wing: Axis 460 Pump

Excellent work! I think I will practice this by doing a standing start from the dock instead of a running start, but not until I have figured out the basics of pumping. Maybe after I'm able to pump for a full minute I'll try it. I still have a lot more practice to do first.
Exactly. Once we can 'easily' pump with a good technique for more than 1 minute, everything is gonna be easier and more natural. Good idea to practice the static start from the dock!
