Si, I can't tell you how much I enjoy all of your videos, you are THE best! I find them exciting, informative, educational, comforting and very interesting. The respect you show for everything, the way you do your research, the way you present it all, is brilliant. I often have trouble sleeping so watching your videos helps me relax and every one is a gem. Love and best wishes to you and thank you for sharing. Happy hunting X
Simon, you give me a great reason to get up and get going on a Sunday morning here in Florida, USA. Your videography has markedly improved and I, along with so many others, appreciate your research and retelling of the history of your finds. Thank you (and Matt) for the great work you do, mate!
That was an awesome hunt Simon and Matt! I share your passion. There's nothing better than digging, and finding a treasure! No matter what it is. The details you find out later are amazing, and the photo's complete the wonderful stories that go along with the treasures. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
Your finds have given me so much enjoyment and information about the Thames and local history that I would have otherwise not discovered here in the USA. Love, love, love your mudlarking community and associates. Those night time hunts and skyline photography are breathtaking and some of my favorites!! Thankyou !
I'm always amazed at what and where you find things! It seems like you can just walk down the street, dig a hole and find something. Of course you're in a small country where people have been living for ages, so I guess it makes sense. What fun! Thanks for sharing your explorations.
Metal finds like the anchor would be a great candidate to coat with a rust converter. It would stop the corrosion and turn it right back to black and you can then clear coat over top of it. Great find
What a fun mudlark with you today! Love the anchors, so very cool! Ah, the ginger beer is a great find and Matt's lovely bottles were a great way to wrap up the video! You two are like the dynamic duo or maybe more like double trouble -- either way it's always such a great time with you both! Til next time, take care! xx ~Jen
Si, I so enjoyed this video! You and Matt had some awesome finds! I love, love, love the anchor, I couldn't have left it either! Your collection is fantastic! I so appreciate the history you give for your finds. Love the Muck!
Very interesting collection of bottles, loved the history! The anchor is stunning. My fav item was that leg, which you should have brought it home and stuck it in your garden. :-)
Another fab video as always! Though my favourite part was you being serenaded by the blackbird while showing off your finds at the end. It brought back memories of a lovely warm sunny English summer evening, which is a nice respite during these dark days of winter. Roll on spring I say! :o)
ESS COFFEE & CHICORY Made 1920-1940. 7.50 Careful where you put that hand! Really interesting story around the Bovril name: The first part comes from the Latin bovem which means Ox. John Johnstone (the inventor of Bovril) got the second part from a book that was popular at the time about a race of people who got their power from a material called "Vril".
Wow, those anchors, wonderful! And fantastic bottle finds! I especially love the ginger beer bottle and the Walker & Son, beauties those. Love the historic pictures and historical info, Si, thank you! Looking forward to the next adventure!
John Jones of Billiter Square. Had a contract to provide anchors to Her Majesties Navy in mid to late 1800's. All said anchors were to me marked with his initials. I'm guessing he could have spelled out his last name, or it could be one he made for someone other than the Royal Navy. I enjoyed your video as always. That you for taking the time to share.
Great hunting -- lots of intact/mostly intact bottles! You should sell anchors on your Etsy site! Although shipping would cost a bit! And you should have taken the mannequin leg home! That would clean up well and be great in the back garden! Thank you again!
That pice of Metal It’s a type set hammer it’s for tapping the blocks into place in the frame for printing ....wow what a find Si Thank You 🙏 Blessings.. now J ,Jones is the name of the boat check marine boat registered in that name There at port authority,, Good luck ...🍀👍
@@lyarnes my thoughts exactly. "FRAGIL - A" and put it in your Living Room window at Christmas time.. as a decoration. One of my favorite holiday movies.,
Some very nice bottles Si Finds. Looks like you had some luck in the muck! One day I'm going to get there and get some luck in the muck. Thanks Kindly,Simon. May you find a leather sack of old gold coins! Love, Light and Peace! DaveyJO in Pa.
I don't know what it is but in such a fast paced materialistic modern world theres something fascinating and refreshing about people searching for stuff in the mud and the way you buzz over the details and history of stuff is much better too watch than all the lame ass manufactured drama so common on RUclips. Cool channel.
That leg would make an awesome planter with some geraniums and a few trailing plants in the top! You would get a mint for it at one of those fancy garden centres.
Could use a taper candle in the edinburgh one. Tazer also known as a cattle prod, used to be common use in abatoirs/cattle markets ect, thankfully use is now banned. Woolworths fizzy pop used to taste like tizer.
Well you did well on bottles! I like those coffee and chicory extract bottles, folks here put coffee in baked beans! The lead thing is a plumb bob. I laughed at the stun gun, .... I've had two microwaves go out recently and I left them out for our neighborhood scrap hauler, I felt obligated to warn him about the capacitors inside them so he wouldn't get zapped trying get the copper out! I love English stoneware we find some here! Awesome video. 😃
Very nice finds there Simon. I didn't really think you were serious about the ⚓ anchor, but, never underestimate a mud-lover ! Doesn't any film company want them as props ? Davy Jones's Locker ! comes to mind
There are times I would love to give my kids a tazer to play with, but they are illegal- so I bought an electronic fly sweater instead, the 17 year old has shocked himself twice already... 😁
Bit late to this. Noted with interest what you said bout candle light In that broken sofa syphon. OK, for interesting light refraction try a red laser put against either end of a dark green beer and turning the bottle slowly just check the amazing light show you'll be getting up on, say, a white ceiling, with all other lights off.
The Anchor with J. Jones on it (20:25) could be off the tug "Lion", which was apparently owned by "Joseph Benjamin Jones & Co, London" from 1859 until it was "broken up" in 1870... www.tynetugs.co.uk/lion1844.html

I like that you took time to digg up some old pictures and history of the bottles. Thanks!
Awesome anchor find Si to add to your anchor collection! Very Kool! Gotta run...go get muddy today!
Great finds. Yes, I think that you are correct in the one bottle what's left can be turned into a candle holder with the diamond shapes at the bottom.
Another awesome video Sifinds!
Anchors away!!! loved the look back segment. and the the research you do for the finds

Those anchors are brilliant! I really love the bottle hunting videos. That black glass is a beauty.

maybe the metal thingie is for leatherworking. smack with a hammer on the top and the bottom part makes an inprint on the material?
That pice of Metal It’s a type set hammer it’s for tapping the blocks into place in the frame for printing ....wow what a find Si
Thank You 🙏 Blessings.. now J ,Jones is the name of the boat check marine boat registered in that name

If your lucky you’ll find the slip where the boat is moarded ,,! Mite even be a longboat ,,
That leg would make a great planter.
Might have to give it a peg leg!?!

Just put the stump side on a wall. Then surrounded it with a few more flower pots for stability.
Nah...you can make a leg lamp!! “FRAGILE” 😆😆😆

Oh wouldn't that be something! My treasure is the thrill of the hunt!
Nice finds, thanks for the history. And the anchors are awesome
BLIMEY !! That Anchor is Spectacular !! Good on you Si
J. Jones wouldn't that be the name of the Blacksmith that forged the anchor? Cool adventure! Thanks for taking us along.
Objective Observer Possibly, but Blacksmiths usually has emblems or a smaller stamp. I think this was done after he ‘ lost’ a few anchors
@@Sifinds Thank you for clarifying.
Loved watching you climbing down the stairs and bum bumping the camera! 😂😂😂😂
Marina Budd lol. That was Matts bum. Hehe

Always interesting, Simon. Chicory coffee tastes a bit like muddy Thames water, so that Symington essence bottle was right at home!

@22:36 Looks like a fence finial.
Simon, I believe the metal gizmo is some kind of weight, either on a plumb line or something used in fishing.
That eel looked a tad pathetic with its tongue sticking out 😂 thanks for showing us all details ! Makes us feel as if we were there.
