I just had like a realization and honestly I am now more inspired to relearn French and learn more Korean.

Chateau Petrus?!?!?!?! That is one of the legendary wineries in Bordeaux. Whoever gave you that must have an amazing wine collection. The brown color is due to the tannins fading as the wine ages. Those tannins that come from the grape skins give a slightly astringent finish and is also the reason that the wine is able to age so well. Sorry for geeking out on the wine.
