  • The "secret" of catching trout from shore at Lake Camanche. The reason for a wild and crazy hookset IS because we have 10ft plus leader so therefore we must yank as hard as we can and as far as we can to set the hook.

    Nice! How do you cast that out 10ft ?

    • @leejtsab73
      @leejtsab73  9 дней назад +1

      You lay the powerbait about 5ft behind you, making sure it doesn't tangle with anything then just swing it overhead so it doesn't hook you in the ears.

    • @afg3233
      @afg3233 7 дней назад

      @ thank you I guess first cast it won’t come off but if you cast again with wet bait it will come off

    • @leejtsab73
      @leejtsab73  7 дней назад

      @afg3233 From personal experience, you rarely get a chance to reuse the same powerbait. It either bites or it's gone when you reel it back.

    Nice catch. Haven’t try north shore. Does it matter where you fish from shore? Always by the pond where so many people are and trust me I don’t like fishing shoulder to shoulder. lol

      Actually, this year since the water is so high, we've lost that whole deep area in the NS.

    What size hook? Treble?

    • @leejtsab73
      @leejtsab73  Месяц назад

      @sockmanB I never use treble. I always use #6 or #8 size single hook. Remember, these trout do not steal your bait, they typically swallow your powerbait.

    What is the action and length of the rod used and what weight is the line?

    • @leejtsab73

      This is my "fun" trout pole. B&M WPCR12 West Point Crappie 2 Piece 12' Fishing Spinning Rod from Walmart with a cheap Shimano FX 2500 also from Walmart. The line is a 20lb braided line with 8lbs leader.

    FYI, in CA any leader line over 6ft is illegal. Stay out trouble guys.

      that's what i mean , i see the boat on the island , u went to a spot where nobody could reach.. no way u can catch fish from the shore regularly

    • @leejtsab73
      @leejtsab73  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@hjkjccdggjhvb Actually, when the lake was at 47-55%, I fished at the same exact spot always. As of now, the spot that I always fish is under the water. That's why I can't fish at that spot. But when I did, actually, I not only caught fish each time but we usually limit most times and there were always 4-5 of us.

      interesting, cause i always figure the big lake is too deep and trout are hardly by the shore... but ok, thanks for the explanation bro, stays safe out there

      @@hjkjccdggjhvb Brother, they are not by the shore, they are in the deep during the summer months. The reason why I'm out there is because I'm targeting 40-60 ft depths. The deeper the better. That's why I'm using 10ft to 12ft poles with 2 (3/4) ounces of egg weights. I'm launching them out as far as I can throw. Based on the charts, it will be about average 50ft depths. This is the same exact spot I fish every time. maps.app.goo.gl/BCXczjoTY1dYFS5Q6
