I am disgusted by the fact that I was ever part of the Jehovah's Witnesses cult. I am embarrassed for them by their cowardly ways. I was twenty years old in 1975. I graduated high school in 1973 and gave up a scholarship to pioneer because this old system wouldn’t be around by 1975. What a let down. What makes me so angry now is that Watchtower never apologizes for misleading rank and file. Geoffrey Winder quoted word for word a sentence from the February 15, 2017 Watchtower page 26, paragraph 12 where it said that the governing body is neither inspired nor infallible and can err in doctrine or organization matters. The paragraph even had the stupidity to say that Jesus never promised that the faithful slave would produce perfect spiritual food. How dumb is that? Watchtower is trying to cover their behind by making flimsy excuses for getting it wrong so many times. AND according to the November 15, 2013 page 20, paragraph 17, members are told to obey instructions no matter how unreasonable they seem from a hunt standpoint.

They did strongly imply from 1966 forward that it made sense that the one thousand year reign of Christ would follow on the heels of the anniversary of 6000 years of man’s existence on earth which was supposed to be in the autumn of 1975. They were careful not to say that Armageddon would occur but they certainly did create an air of expectation amongst the rank and file. They also made claim in the forward of the Awake magazine that the system would not last beyond the end of the twentieth century. When they came up with the unscriptural overlapping generation nonsense I was at the point where I was getting tired of being lied to. This is the best anti-Watchtower video I’ve ever seen, absolutely brilliant, well said indeed. I was raised a JW, it prevented my education and the elitism it engendered in me and the separation from schoolmates etc was a burden for many years. Eventually, at age 45 and whilst an Elder scheduled to give the Baptism talk at a forthcoming convention I discovered and read a book by ex-Governing Body member Raymond Franz, “Crisis in Christian Conscience “ which proved the corruption inside the organisation. I left, losing all friends and relatives, and started a new life, thankfully successfully. However even some 30 years later I still occasionally find myself dreaming of giving a public talk or house to house witnessing, the mental aftereffects of leaving are indeed long lasting. Your video reminded me of one insightful experience. At a District Convention at Twickenham in around 1966, one speaker actually mocked Witnesses who in 1914 had given up all possessions to get ready for Armageddon, he had the audacity to quote the scripture “you have fooled me Jehovah so that I was fooled” and laughed about it, as did most of the audience. But not me, I was shocked that this horrific abuse suffered by so many had been a cause of hilarity. I should of course have left the organisation then, but at 19 I was mentally committed and it took many more years before I saw the true light and forced myself to escape. You are doing a wonderful work, keep going no matter what pressures may be brought to bear by this evil organisation, and remember, it’s incredibly hard for adherents to break away, they deserve every sympathy.
As a PIMO or PIMQ I have so many issues with the organisation and that you correctly stated.. when people are suffering financially the brothers will come and read her you scriptures to them basically stay warm and well fed... Wow Jon! Well said! Have you seen the WT's press release regarding the NZ inquiry? It's worth finding because in it the WT elabortes at length on all the services they do NOT provide for congregants, or for anyone else. I was left thinking, how in hell can they be called a charity if they literally admit to providing NO "public benefit"? I was present for the High court hearing in October last year and have a video or two about it on my channel. When the RC clarified it's terms of reference and scope to include care within "trust based relationships", not just care within a physical structure, the WT vehemently argued that the organisation was not responsible for abuse in such care. They stated they were not responsible for the trust congregants place in elders and other appointed men. I couldn't believe it when the jw lawyer produced evidence that stated the opposite of her argument! The 1998 (?) BOE letter she cited said that elders would not hastily appoint a man who had accusations against them, but the reason for that being that elders ARE in a position of trust ! That trust is conferred upon them by the organisation when it appoints them as elders. This fact was not lost on the RC and the courts. So, I wait with bated breath for the final report of the RC due next month.
If I bring this up to my father who's been in this cult since 1953 and an elder he will deny everything. I pray all the time for God to open his eyes. He just had surgery on a valve in his heart and the day before he had the surgery he said " I put all my faith in the doctor." I didn't even correct him. I just prayed that God change his heart. I'm still waiting in faith.

Where I live as far as I know it is required by law to report child abuse. Watchtower attempting to evade responsibility reminds me of the scandals surrounding the Catholic Church in Canada regarding the abuse of children in Catholic run institutions for indigenous children (who were forcibly removed from their homes) and molestation of children by clergymen. I recall a few decades ago a local Catholic bishop had a regular column in a local newspaper and he actually tried to defend the clergymen accused of molesting children, suggesting the children were willing participants because otherwise it wouldn't have happened (or there wouldn't be so many cases). Needless to say he was roasted in the letters to the editor. But it's yet another case of the church trying to protect the perpetrators and doing nothing for the victims.

That sounds more like a care home for Rastafarians. I live in UK . Having one care in Wales is extremely lame. I have worked in care homes I left JW's 40 years ago but my parents still are and I have always thought how cruel to make elderly witnesses go into care homes where they have Christmas, Easter and birthdays. It's like torture to them and make them very closed off and withdrawn. Considering these people dedicated their whole life to Jehovah then have to depend on "Satan's world" to take care of them when they can no longer knock on doors for Watchtower is a crying shame.
I personally have a family member in one of those homes. It’s privately owned and run for JW elderly. They have assisted living area and memory care area. Not many can get in to it, there is a waiting list. But it costs a mint to be there. The rent for a room is astronomical. It is non profit and the staff are both JWs and non JWs

I couldn't believe it when the jw lawyer produced evidence that stated the opposite of her argument! The 1998 (?) BOE letter she cited said that elders would not hastily appoint a man who had accusations against them, but the reason for that being that elders ARE in a position of trust ! That trust is conferred upon them by the organisation when it appoints them as elders. This fact was not lost on the RC and the courts. So, I wait with bated breath for the final report of the RC due next month.

If I bring this up to my father who's been in this cult since 1953 and an elder he will deny everything. I pray all the time for God to open his eyes. He just had surgery on a valve in his heart and the day before he had the surgery he said " I put all my faith in the doctor." I didn't even correct him. I just prayed that God change his heart. Where I live as far as I know it is required by law to report child abuse. Watchtower attempting to evade responsibility reminds me of the scandals surrounding the Catholic Church in Canada regarding the abuse of children in Catholic run institutions for indigenous children (who were forcibly removed from their homes) and molestation of children by clergymen. I recall a few decades ago a local Catholic bishop had a regular column in a local newspaper and he actually tried to defend the clergymen accused of molesting children, suggesting the children were willing participants because otherwise it wouldn't have happened (or there wouldn't be so many cases). Needless to say he was roasted in the letters to the editor. But it's yet another case of the church trying to protect the perpetrators and doing nothing for the victims.

That sounds more like a care home for Rastafarians. I live in UK . Having one care in Wales is extremely lame. I have worked in care homes I left JW's 40 years ago but my parents still are and I have always thought how cruel to make elderly witnesses go into care homes where they have Christmas, Easter and birthdays. It's like torture to them and make them very closed off and withdrawn. Considering these people dedicated their whole life to Jehovah then have to depend on "Satan's world" to take care of them when they can no longer knock on doors for Watchtower is a crying shame.
I personally have a family member in one of those homes. It’s privately owned and run for JW elderly. They have assisted living area and memory care area. Not many can get in to it, there is a waiting list. But it costs a mint to be there. The rent for a room is astronomical. It is non profit and the staff are both JWs and non JWs
