Very cool explanation! I'm currently using notion, but the free plan does not allow me to download my labbook as a PDF, which really annoys me, so I'm considering switching to Benchling. Thanks for showing us how you use it!
Yeah I was giong to use notion first but that was a problem for me as well. Benchling you can download your notes as a pdf although it's probably not the best format
@@worldwildmed I only really want it in pdf so i can give a "printable" version to my supervisor, so it works for me! Although I'm still "considering" (aka i haven't had time to decide/switch to another ELN rip)
Thanks for posting this video! Helped me with deciding if I should use benchling. For your differentiation experiments, do you have a protocol that you import every time for your replicate experiments that you check off as you go through the actual work?
yes exactly. I have a template and everytiem I set up a new batch, I import it in. It's a 10 day schedule, so I can set the start date. From that point on, I know exactly what I need to do on each day and can check it off accordingly. Does that help?

As a new grad student, this was very helpful! Is there a way to upload a protocol PDF and have it "covert" to text so I could edit it?

@@worldwildmed yes, thank you very much!
Is this free to use for grad students? Does you PI have to fund it?
Yeah its free for academic users!
