Here's a genuine question: What DOES Drake stand for?
He's a chameleon who is a popstar that hopped from trend to trend without really authentically standing for anything. Hip Hop with YMCMB, Dancehall with Popcaan, Reggaeton with Bad Bunny, UK Rap/Grime with Skepta, Drill with Headie One, Afrobeats with Wizkid etc. He's always continually plundered movements and trends whenever it suited him. He doesn't stand for anything really.

This is why personally I can't get with Drake, for someone that's 37 years he seems to move where the wind blows. I have never even heard Drake rap about any issues in the community (not that I expect him to), it just makes me think of his level of maturity with music. Mitch was spot on about Mr Morale being introspective. It’s somewhat therapeutic. I got the same feeling from Cole’s 4 your eyez only where he’s basically writing a love letter to his son while reflecting on fatherhood thru loss. Not every album is going to be loaded with bangers, and I think that comes with growth and real life happening outside of the industry

The concept of Mr Morale and the Big Steppers is therapy sessions. I wish more people would grasp that. You hear his therapist throughout the album, even those moments you hear “session 10 breakthrough”. That album was of course not for everyone but I think Kendrick had to get those things off his chest personally but can’t deny his talent.
