- THE WILD BUNCH meets NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, the film follows Fred and his military buddies as they must defend their local V.F.W. (Veterans of Foreign Wars) post - and an innocent teen - against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants. These Vietnam vets have been to hell and back, but this will be the longest night of their lives.
Directed by: Joe Begos
Starring: Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Martin Kove, Sierra McCormick, David Patrick Kelly
This movie is so underrated. It feels like it came straight out of a Sega Genesis game from the 90's! I love it!
Reminds me a bit of Hobo with a Shotgun. Very fun and nostalgia.
Along with the obvious Carpenter aura, there is very much that too! Very much a late 80's/eatly 90s side scroller beat em up vibe. Guess that's what was on the tip of my tongue.
@@robb5744 The synth music also sounds like the Yamaha YM2612 sound chip found on the Genesis, adding to the kickass vibe!
This movie was beyond great, a blast of an old school cast, brutal violence and a mixture of John Carpenter and From Dusk Till Dawn.
Perfectly Said.
It was a really great movie and i loved the amazing cast 👏👏
Looks great and looks like a film to homage John Carpenter films.
It was tbh, and it was done so perfectly.
watch it on the big screen. It's incredible.
@Rich Johnson awesome!
Saw this at Beyond Fest and it was a blast. Worth it for the cast alone and delivers with some great action, practical effects, cool lighting and humor sprinkled in. Best viewed at a theater with a crowd so hopefully this gets a decent little theatrical run. Long live The Hammer!
actually someone who will speak at least something about the film lol
guys this was so good - like an 80's splatter comics comes to life
Stephen Lang is so underrated...anything he's in I'll watch
Hobo With A Shotgun x From Dusk Til Dawn x Friggin Assault on Precinct 13
LMAO!
I love the first 2, just recently purchased precinct 13, so am certainly looking forward to seeing this based on what you said there ☺
That's the exact vibe i was pickin up! 😂
Perfect description
"Imma cut yer heart out."
Gotta love Stephen Lang. 😀👍
There's Jackson standing like a stonewall.
I just finished watching this true sleeper and classic film about 10 times today and first ...
I'm so relieved for the comments everybody is leaving bcos all of you are absolutely right on the money!!!
Start to finish, so well done in every way ... and not only did the filmmakers complete an exceptional homage to OG John Carpenter ... they went and caught the actual spirit and vibes of those early 80s horror films, exactly ...
And that's the hard part! The technical part can't pull it off alone .. it has to be those random mix of cast, the writing not doing too much but, just enough and the people making the movie genuinely humbling themselves to the film and understanding to they heart the era ...
Back in the day, these movies were not as widely accepted as I wonder sometimes people may think ... there was an underground aspect to it in a way but not like the term underground means now as in hip ...
But these Cats at Voltage Films caught that to ... I remember it seemed like us who liked these films then that we were on the fringe and not super cool but we were tough and were going to survive a future that seemed bleak ...
Voltage Films captured this for me a memory from then, man! Rock on!!! Your choice and judgment .. if all y'all sweated over details? Well they mattered, and then some!
... and it was well worth it!"
This could be considered a true lost Carpenter film easily and I wonder what that OG thinks? But all y'all graduated the concept and mood so its yours, original and excellent ....
For me it was the soundtrack that had me all the way so much love to whomever at Voltage Films had the wisdom to implement the soundtrack guy and the actual soundtrack guy ....
you Sirs did a perfect job ...
Carpenter is equally a legend with soundtrack music as he is film so much so that he holds equal rank with Tangerine Dream of the 70s and Kraftwerk/Bambaatttaaa of Planet Rock music ...
So do you soundtrack guy/gal
The cast though, wow!!! The dude who played in Monkey's Paw? Love that guy ... and Norm from Cheers? wtf?!!! And Fred ... dang man what can I say ...
I'm not certain that is the guy from Flashdance? And finally William Sadler ... he killed it!!!
The younger guy returned home from military handled this role as well the bad guys and the young lady who escaped the bad guys ...
I keep trippin' off the soundtrack and how the filmmakers weaved that tension in and out throughout the entire movie ... always present, never too much, just right ....
And then the ending how the recording engineers brought the soundtrack up with the Moog 960 sequencer ratcheted bouncing sound right on up to the credits!
Looking back for me it was these details things that put the timelessness on a film, its like the perfect volume fade out on a rare record from the 70s ...
Much Respect everyone! These days and times? This film invaluable ...
Looking forward to more great films!!!
This movie is so fun, everyone should check it out.
"Soldiers are good at dying."
They're also good at killing.
Soldiers don't die ! They go to hell and regroup !!!
That's what I said! lol
That’s exactly what I said lol
I said that!
This movie was tailor made for me and my 80's action tastes! I'm getting Carpenter's "Assault on Precinct 13" vibes too and also, "Hobo With A Shotgun" (esthetically speaking) but instead of just Hauer being pissed off and killing every douche nozzles in his way we get Lang, Williamson, Sadler, Kove and fucking Norm from "Cheers" being old cranky bastards delivering some ass whoopins. I'm in.
I love both of those movies and William Sadler is awesome so yeah I'm in too
@@ameliathornhill7131 Saw it last night. It was everything I wanted and more. Amazing cast, gore aplenty. There should be more modern day Grindhouse movies geting released. Hoping for a renaissance of sorts and more directors get a chance to make them.
Modern day Death Wish.
Is it just me or is this a gorier "Assault on Precinct 13" with a better budget? (Not that that is a bad thing, you understand, just curious.)
Saw the film, it's SUPER gory
Paul Lidberg I definitely don’t think its a better budget. But it’s awesome
It reminds me of "Green Room"
@@jamesjohnson9425 it's a better budget than the original Assault on Precinct 13 by far.

This is already the best movie of 2020.
The fact this movie has Black Ceasar AKA The Hammer is all the reason to watch this movie.
"the second you walked through that door, we were duty bound to help you."
This movie! such art! I could feel the 80's running through my veins!
Did they just try to one up "Heeeeere's Johnny?" 😂
Impossible though.Jack's moment is iconic.
Just finished it. It was very exciting, Gordy, and action packed. I enjoyed it and recommend. The veteran actors were great!!!
I'm loving the 80s vibe.
Great movie, so much fun and violence, but fun action 80s style violence. Bliss was great, same as this one. Director knows his primary target audience. Prompted me to rewind several times on several scenes. Loved it!
Such a bad ass unrated movie. I ordered the Bluray today and the soundtrack on vinyl.
So...much...gore-wood...I love it!!!
I hadn't heard anything about this but I'm only past the credits & I could tell where this was going...
30 minutes in & you can see that this is an homage to John Carpenters films, one in particular, " Assault On Precinct 13 "
It even has an 80s Synth/Keyboards sounding theme track playing over the titles & through the movie...
So far it hasn't let me down as far as an homage to John Carpenters films, now it's just a case of guessing the kill count & how gory those deaths will be by the time the end credits roll...
.....
I buy all shudder exclusives when they release on DVD. This is one of my favorites. Watch it guys.
Wow, some really great actors from my childhood, such as: Martin Kove (Jesse from Hard Time on Planet Earth),
Stephen Lang (Colonel Miles Quaritch from Avatar), David Patrick Kelly (T-Bird from The Crow), Fred Williamson (Frost in From Dusk Till Dawn)
Oh, & a movie itself... Well, one of the best in that genre! :)
Watched this last night and enjoyed it, worth a watch.
That "oh lalala" scream on Commando affected big time Sullys health and made him look now like 80 years old.
The movie was epic in every way possible!! Grammy dive bar action with some of the best action Stars. Hats off to the director all of his movies are individually different and unique 😎
Bruh, there was definitely some mk fatalities in this movie. This movie is so badass!!
This movie is AWESOME, everyone should watch this
Has a „green room“ vibe to it
valibe94 yooo facts I was thinking the exact same thing. Like green room mixed with Mandy
Green Room was pretty dope
@@alexcole1527 Not enough raving drunk Nic Cage in underwear.
"hobo with a shotgun" vibe
That's a cast I didn't expect! Well done to whoever brought these guys altogether, I just hope Martin Kove isn't just gonna wind up dead straight away XD
He gave it hell!
Cast looks legendary.
Finally! I found the prequel movie to Don't Breathe! :D
this movie is great highly recomend it
Final scene Stephen Lang bursts out of the bar in his Avatar robot armor suit.
He drank about the same amount from Tombstone. 🥃🥃🥃
They have nothing to worry about. Frank Brayker protected the key and he is in the VFW.
First person ive heard mention Demon Knight. Awesome dude!
It looks like a movie that a Desert Storm era GI would watch on grainy VHS back in the 1980s, so i gotta take a peek. :))
Im absolutely seeing this i like the cast and the VFW ideal, so lets go watch some vets keep vets kick ass!
Gonna order this on Blu-Ray, can't wait.
Movie is FN FANTASTIC!! straight John Carpenter style. Complete nostalgia. Im in absolute awe for I wasnt expecting this. Read a couple comments on here via watching the trailer and WHAM! Gr8 Movie! Thanks for the heads up yall
I thought Fred Williamson was dead! WOW!
Grindhouse films are still being made and they're still awesome!
If S. Craig Zahler has anything to do with this, count on it being brutally violent.😃
I pass by where this was filmed on my way to school everyday
its stephen lang, the blind man strikes again!
Ultraviolent & supercharged! Made me laugh & yell!
Great movie , highly recommend
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great cast and story
I have been waiting for this film to be available on the Google Play Store, guess I will wait longer.
I don't know if its on Google Play, but Redbox has it
@@bartlett247 I have now purchased it on Google Play Store (Region: Australia)
There's a 80s twilight zone that focuses on a Vietnam Vet in a bar being haunted by zombies
may i know which episodes?
@@nelsonyan4467 yes it is Nightcrawlers!!
@@sbenz17 My fave 80's Twilight Zone episode - directed by William Friedkin!
"Charlie's in the light!!!"
@@nissekram oh my God yes!! That's awesome he directed it
The Hammer is in this, I’m there!!!!!!!
Very Warriors, Assault on Precinct 13, from dusk till Dawn vibe I want to see it now
Nailed it. Throw in some Death Wish sequels.
There were jokes about those movies, easter egg style, or at least just for fans. My favorite was "if the are on skates, i think we will be ok". Probably not a direct quote, but you get the point.
Just watched it. FANTASTIC
About time they made a movie about the VFW burnt out veterans rude bartenders
*Cheesy but dupe af. Soundtrack is pure 80s. Loved it a lot.*
This looks so good. I probably liked Bliss more than I should've and I'm ready for another Joe Begos trip.
Full of 80's vibes here
steve moore soundtrack is superb
Saw this the another night. Really enjoyed it. Feels like it was made in the 80s! In more ways than one.
I found this movie next to the rotisserie chicken at Walmart.
amazing
what a great cast !!!
Fantastic movie. They just went way overboard with film grains, and it just dilutes the otherwise great image quality.
Love the lighting in this picture! Wish I had a job on this film...tot bad ass.
The most badass boomers I've seen in a film in quite a while haha.
Ti Ti ca ca
Dung moofa bitcha dog farto
Ridiculously good show!
Old school john carpenter vibes defo recommend, cast is awesome👍
So proud of our military xoxo
Serious Carpenter vibes.
when does this come out?
Valentine's Day 2020
Man..i saw it once one and forgot about it..i didn't even found the title until just now, after long time searching..
This movie is awesome! Watch it.
I did not get memo about this movie. I need to watch this asap.
Home boy is rocking the old 173rd. Airborne
Col Miles Quaritch before he accepted the Pandora mission!!
Explain the toothpick comment in the movie.
Please. I don’t get it.
I got the joke. Never mind lol!!!
Watching now but why they use fake grain effect on those rlje movies like Mandy.
What was the movie in the ad before the trailer, girl sitting in chair in hallway
This trailer faded to black so many times I thought I was having a stroke.
So it’s John Kreese, Colonel Quaritch teaming up
This looks really badass
Moral of the story: Dont mess with kind and caring extremely old soldiers.
Johnny Trejo should be included in this film.
Very good movie. And the nostalgia music gives it a great setting. They don't make too film's like this. Plenty of violence too. Highly recommend this. Should be no thumbs down but people are stupid.
Soldiers don't die ! They go to hell and regroup !!!
Ive been watching this film, this film are so awesome❤️
This looks rad as hell, but...do they not have phones, cell phones or otherwise, to call the cops?
Yes!! Dora Madison (Dezzy from Bliss) is in it!
Great movie! If you it can speak of ANY TIME... No one ever wants to listen to the WISE, ELDERS! Do people not realize the older people know something, they have wisdom, im ONLY 37 and realize this!
I love these kind of movies!
Producers of Bone Tomahawk... and Brawl on Cell 99. This is gonna be awesome though I guess I have to bring a barf bag at the ready
Looks awesome. My only complaint is David Patrick Kelly doesn't look like he'll be in it that much. I get the feeling he's going to die very early in the movie.
You can take the horse out of the war, but you can’t take the war out of the horse
The movies Stephen Lang has been doing since Avatar look better than the movies he was doing in the '80s (e.g., Band of the Hand, Guilty as Sin).
So, the moral to this story is that you don't fuck around with grizzly old veterans. We got to be old for a reason. LOL
I've never seen a more graphic head stomp.
try american history x or drive.
Great movie! Premise is quite like "assault on precint 13" but with amazing gore.
Who’s the Napoleon Wilson of the lot?
So Don't Breathe, Green Room, Hobo with a Shotgun, and that one part from the new Halloween. The fight scenes will be sped up and cut all weird seeing as Stephen Lang is the only one left to throw a decent punch
Oh, I need to support this glorious shit!
Has one of the most gruesome head stomps I've ever seen...
