I bought a festool domino and it looked like it may have been a return. I emailed and they refunded my money and let me keep the tool. Festool for the win🎉 I also have this tracksaw and man it may be my favorite tool in the garage.
You made that look easy. Can't wait to see how in the heck you're going to install it after you join another set to it without it breaking. Really nice job
Tape is certainly much cheaper than the festool though... On something this big, the domino for alignment as well probably was worth it, especially when you need to make multiple. As someone who woodworks for a hobby I'm having a hard time justifying the cost though. I would want at least 3-4 planned big projects that would benefit from it before I go down that path. Any reason why you went with the small 500 vs the 700?
The 700 only has large domino tenons, the smallest one would blow right through the miter joints. The 500 is more versatile for all uses, the 700 is only suitable for big heavy work such as doors and heavy tables and jobs of that nature. The 500 is for all cabinetry, built-ins, molding and so on, which is what I do mostly. I’ve owned this for over 3 years and it has been worth every penny. I don’t show it often in my videos because most people do not own one but in this case I had to.
Tom is right, much longer open time. When you’re doing long glue ups like this, you don’t want the glue to start setting up while you’re trying to mate all the parts. Type 1 or 2 would give you a hard time. Smaller assemblies I use type 2 unless it’s going to be an outdoor project.
The tape method is superior to this method. You reach the same end goal but I’d rather deal with tape every day of the week rather than filling Brad nail holes the length of the beams.
If you know how to use this machine, there is no margin for error, that’s why it has the loose settings. Did you not see how easily I put this together? I’ve struggled with the tape method and the results are mediocre at best. The results here don’t lie.

Thanks, Anthony, for such an extensive and excellent tutorial!

I have a super strong joinery plan for that part. You will see it all step by step in an upcoming video. Stay tuned.
Came to say that. Scolaro is a beast.
Thank you, glad you are enjoying the videos!
Good one Anthony!

Great video Cheers
hi why the tight bond 3.....any reason why your not using the tight bond 1?
My guess is longer open time ... Or, it's what he had on hand.

Hey Johnny boy, how u doin? Hope you’re enjoying the videos!

If you watched the rest of the related videos on these, you’d see they were distressed barn style beams and the nail holes didn’t have to be filled.
To much margin for error
The tape folding you mentioned is much more permissive
