- In this one, we take advantage of a brief warm day to go out on the river before the cold snap arrives! We found some beautiful stones, including some colorful jaspers, a few agates, banded chert, and some gorgeous agatized wood! I am very happy we did go out when we had the chance, because the snow and negative temperatures arrived just a day later. After our hunt, we head back to the shop to cut some of our finds! I hope you all enjoy, and I will have another one out soon!

What a wonderful cold weather rock hunt!! Only in Montana, can you rock hunt in weather like that, because the rocks are big enough to see them! But arent they gorgeous! That pet wood with the brightest yellow jasper spots is beautiful! And that first one you found was gorgeous also!! And that banded chert was so beautiful! They were all just gorgeous! No favorites, just at loving them all! Thanks Theo!❤
Great hunt. You know me. It's the petrified wood
13:59 Unholy cow!!! I had no idea that petrified wood could be so stunning! Those striations and the splashes of yellow! Look at that rock!!! WOW!
That last pet wood with yellow jasper would make a nice lure 🎣
Great job rockhounder
I'm new to your channel 😊 thank you for sharing your beautiful experiences with us. They're all so amazing. Ps. I'm in Montana and it's -32° out side. 😂
Your first tour of 2024 was a success, yeah, happy new year. 🤷👀🙏
More nice finds! Man I am bummed its so cold, gonna be a long wait to get back out there on the river unless we get a lucky warm day, fingers crossed!
This makes me want to get out and look for some nice rocks. Maybe next weekend when it's 40 above and not 40 below.
Nice finds again!!!
Beautiful findings Theo! That last red jasper reminds me so much of an anatomic heart; would be an amazing sculpture if you don’t decide to slab it.
Awesome finds. You take care and feel better.
You must be doing something to please the gods because your video showed up in my google feed this morning! (And I’ve never clicked on your page before!) cool rocks
Great video. Really enjoy seeing you find those beauties followed up with them slabbed in same video. The wood is spectacular!
My Word! I Knew what was coming & I'm glad you got in the first search! Nice finds, bu my fave was the Pet. Wood.. Just stunning finds. Hope 2024 continues to bring Awesomeness!
Stay warm up there man! Way to cold for me here in Missouri and you guys were a good 30 degrees colder. 🥶 yikes! This weather is really interfering with my Rockhounding and rock cutting plans
suggestions on a first saw? cutting fist sized rocks, lots of Quartz, Agate and Chalcedony, i also want to be able to cut glass bottles probably need a different blade for that. thanks
Rocking the Dewalt hammer
Good!
Some stunning finds, for sure! Thanks for taking us along!
Happy new years
You probably missed a lot of good ones because of the glasses. But all in all, excellent finds! The Jasperized Pet wood was my Fav!
Thanks for taking us along on your blind hunt! What you were seeing thru those lenses is probably about what my vision is normally. Maybe that’s why I am always impressed with the beautiful rocks you find😂. I love all the rocks you found on the trip. The Baculite was stunning! Pet wood is always a favorite 🤩 but that banded chert knocked my socks off! Looking forward to seeing the cabs you make with all of these beauties ❤
Great Video! hope you get new glasses soon, ordered mine this week.
-54° C with Windchill, here in Saskatchewan. You’re getting off easy!
Great start to the new year! That piece of yellow and black agatized wood is insane Theo!!!! The growth rings in the end grain look so cool 😎
Thank you! Great video for a day that we can’t walk outside. I’m crafting and binging rock videos ❤
Very good hunting early in the year . Very beautiful,,👍🤝🙏⚒️⛏️💪
Have you ever thought about cutting small 5/8 x5/8 squares from the pet wood. Then numbering them with dots to make dice. I really want to do that myself but our pet wood is not big enough. Those pieces on this video would be perfect for dice. Anyway thanks for the rock fix.
Hey, we just got snowed in pretty bad here 🇨🇦
The banded churt and last jasper was wort the hunt.
Hope you get those glasses soon🙏🏽 nice hunting
The last wood you cut is my favorite. But, all had their own beauty.
Oh that’s so cool! I want a rock saw or a tumbler, I live across the road from a beach and I get so many cool things but being so beach worn, I don’t know what they are or can’t see through them.
Love the whole find the rock, cut the rock work flow you showed here.
Thank you for sharing your finds.😊
Oh my, how gorgeous finds. Cant pick fav coz all of them are so awesome❤️🇫🇮
Wonder if you could make a jellyfish cab out of your favorite slab.
Your glass lens looks just like my camera lens on my phone! I am scraping rocks over the lenses several times a day, trying to see what's going on with the rocks I find 🤷♀️ Stay warm... -28 here now.
🥶gorgeous finds!
I sure liked the red Jasper w green seams
And then of course the pet woods
Nice spur of the moment hunt. Not too bad finds considering it being a very popular spot. The banded chert is beautiful! Get your glasses "soonish". Thanks for sharing Theo.
Great finds Theo! Thanks for sharing!
Marvelous finds
The red jasper was my favorite!
Please get your glasses ordered!
Good finds on this hunt. That red jasper with the white stripes was amazing.
As you order your new glasses, maybe get a second pair that is more durable with anti scratch coatings to protect the lens, and use safety glasses when you are mining to make sure your glasses are protected as well as your eyes. Your old glasses look like they get tiny chips of rock hitting them on the the regular.
Gorgeous rocks.
i really like the yellowstone jasper. and the pet wood. have you ever tryed cutting the prt wood end grain at a steep angle? like a 60 degree ? so it streatches out the grane?
Absolutely gorgeous petrified wood! Very good video! Hope you get your new glasses soon. 😊
Thank you for the awesome video! I am from northern minnesota. If you are interested in coming out here and finding some lake superior agates Crazy awesome banded lots of petrified wood! We would love to have you. And I would gladly run camera for you.
my kingdom for a set of dice made of that agatized wood.
That last one that you polished up almost looks like an ammonite shell.
I tried Rockhounding in the winter. The ground was frozen solid, and it was too hard to get a single rock out without breaking it.
Besides, it's winter. We should all be hibernating!
Beautiful petwood! That baculite section is what we call a buffalo stone, tourist love them. You did very well for a winter hounding trip, thanks for sharing the hounding trip buddy..
Stay warm, my brother in Roundup says it's about -30 below in your area now..
Mantap, Indonesia hadir,,👍🙏
Super cool finds Theo! glad you managed to get out on the river! this cold snap is brutal, its - 20 in Missoula rn. I was thinking we would have an uncommonly mild Montana winter but she had other plans! Keep up the good work and stay warm out there!
❤❤❤
Beautiful jasper please get your glasses lol
Time loop, seen this already.
Bumblebee petrified wood
Would you please have a continued video that shows the rocks you find today, cut so we can see what they look like inside. It is so confusing when you find rocks and then wait to cut them one never knows which rocks they were. i hope this is clear.
Sounds like possible Cataract s
Go to army navy store ask for small shove point edge fold shove up small for packing out
The prospect of hunting here in South Dakota is gone for a hot minute. First time above 0 today in about 5 days and we have 2 feet of snow now 😅
Looks like where I go duck hunting.
Hey man, big fan, love the show - very inspiring.
One question: just for curiosity, have you ever cut a stone open only to describe it as "...not very pretty at all..."?
Can I ask what state you are in?They are great finds, Where I live is right below a dame so everything I find Is quite small pretty but very small.
Nice trip
Not only are you out of focus
The camera didn’t want to focus either! Lol
Ok. You need to take me or teach me how to spot.... I've seen all sorts of rocks like that but I'm not sure if they're the real deal or not?
Bit of cerium oxide will have those glasses back in action in no time flat 😀(Ain't got much better to do at 70 below anyway, right? LOL)
⚒️
What are you spraying?
@elizabethbrice1225
I wondered the same thing?! It sure makes the rocks shiny!
Wow, beautiful hunt. I'm new to your channel and to be honest I didn't know that such attractive men did what I do.
Prescription glasses are not a good replacement for safety glasses whilst lapidarying.
I'll write that down.
What happens if you surface polish the bacculite segment
Where is this at?
Those ads at the beginning are annoying.
and in the pet wood i see like half of texes. you coud easly cut out some texes peices...
Namibia where to sell my crystal stones
