The best interpretation I've seen is that Garfield hates Mondays because Jon had to go to work.
Of course, we never see Jon at work, and he is a comic strip writer, and appears to work at home in the early strips.

Maybe Jon has Multiple Personality Disorder that goes off only on Mondays. And on those days, Jon becomes an asshole to Garfield, and in the following days, he doesn't remember what happened.

i would have to say that garfield standing up and saying "God, I'm hungry," with _that_ expression on his face and _that_ music playing is maybe the best way to start a game possible.
Garfield hated Mondays because he was house cat and was too proud to say that he would miss John, his owner, when he would leave for work after having had him around all weekend.
But otherwise, yes, this was a pretty poor game.
[Edit: I was mistaken. John's occupation in cannon is a cartoonist who works at home. Garfield's dislike of Mondays is still not quite explained except that it is a silly thing for a cat to specifically dislike.]

I love AGS! Fond memories. Funny, I think there are handful of games made in it that are actually not absolutely terrible.
I'd never heard of AGS before this game, but I got to look into it a bit and it actually looks like a pretty fun way to make a game.
There are some very neat gems made on that game. And they're all free, at least as far as I know. There's no legal reason not to charge for them, but no one buys adventure games anymore.
I tried the software once and it's incredibly versatile. I even managed to make a couple of puzzles, like a memory game, all within the software's tools.
Check out the Wadjet Eye games. Those are not free, but the Blackwell series is an amazing series of adventure games made in AGS. And the last one has some of the best 320x240 resolution art you'll see in a game.
AGS was and still is awesome. Anyone know if there's anything more recent like it? Would be cool to have an engine like that but which supports higher screen resolutions for instance.
The newest version of AGS (3.4.0) actually supports custom resolutions, up to HD ones. ;) Not to mention some other nifty things (removing the GUI limits!!) and scripting editor fixes/updates.

Garfield has no job, he doesn't have to go to school, he has no responsibilities whatsoever.
And, even so, he hates Mondays, a weekday, that should be like any other.
What is hidden beneath the Gorfs hatred of this weekday?
Is it a traumatic experience?
Maybe the death of his beloved girlfriend Lasaga happened on a monday. Or, even more probably, every Monday he is beat to the brink of exhaustion by John, whom funnels his rage over the start of the new weekday onto his pet, thus creating a negative stigma over the day inside of the snoozing animal.

one reason Garfield hates Monday is because something always seems to happen to him there, like bad luck. This can be shown by one of the comics where jon asks why Garfield hates Mondays, and Garfield shows jon his face... after he got hit with a pie.

honestly, while the creator has some trouble with grammar every now and then, I think this game really captures the spirit of the Garfield cartoon. Even some of the "moon logic" honestly wouldn't look out of place in the mild weirdness of that cartoon. They clearly put a lot of effort into it and if you took this plot it'd fit right in.
They were more ambitious than their skills for music or graphic design allowed but honestly, with some polish this would actually be pretty legit.

Anyway, LOVE this video! I was always a big fan of Garfield, at least the animated versions, though I read the comics too - I think it was mostly for the art rather than the jokes though lol. Also - and I hope it's ok to say this - I thought you were perfect this time around! You came across 100% natural and relaxed, the pacing and timing on everything hit every mark. So whatever you were trying out to seem more natural I think it worked!
I hope that actually does sound like a good thing, cuz I don't think you were unnatural before, I guess you just seemed more into it this time or something? Ugh, I was struggling with this same dilemma the other day on whether or not to tell my friend who I know has been trying to get into shape that it looks like he'd really lost weight. Man, PilotRedSun is the best channel on RUclips. I showed all his videos to my friends long before his channel blew up, and I miss how his stuff used to sort of be our inside joke that nobody else knew about, but I'm more happy that his genius is being recognized by a greater audience.
