While I build the jig I show how it pivots at the base to adjust the angle. While I cut the dado in the top I show how the Veritas jig slides back and forth in it. There's really nothing else to it's operation, it's a pretty simple design. I try to meet everyone's expectations, but it's hard to predict every question someone may have. I do my best...
your videos are great. thank you for spending the time make them. A suggestions would be, that when you start your videos if you can have what you made there at the beginning. that way you can reference what you talking about. at 3:06 you start to talk about the relationship between the parts. unless you know what the tool rest looks like. im not sure you can follow what you are referring to.
Bandsaw is torn down. I cut that wheel on my Landon Millers Falls mitre box with progressive angled cuts until round. Where there’s a will there’s a way!
Ahh. the famous "Seney Stretch", 20 plus miles of straight and level road on goodt ole M-28. I was a Techie and made that trip many times! You betcha, ey!
Stumpy... I was at woodcraft yesterday and bought the veritas grinding jig intending on making the jig in this video. Can give some rough dimensions to get me started?
Yeah!! I wanna see you F up some irons & chisels with you're newly made tool rest.. I need something like this myself, And not permanently mounting the grinder will allow easy moving instead of bolting it directly to the bench. Just like my polishing grinder
well done "terrible jokes" based on your Old-Timey wisdom. info is very useful to me and i appreciate the time you take to produce the this material. fortunately people that do not like your video style can go elsewhere.
something easier to make. I only have hand tools and cordless drives. I do need a jig to attach to my grinder for getting the right angles. Can you help? Mike
Got that shaky hand problem myself. It varies from dead steady to shaking like a leaf on a tree. No medical explanation. I thought I was the only one...
No stumpy you don't show the jig in use, never with a iron or chisel in the holder up against the grinding wheel actually being sharpened, only loosely set there, also some basic info like how high the arbor o your grinder is above the base and the size of the round disc just for reference, I have made the first one and it is no good so I threw it away and am now starting the second and adjusting the sizes, trial and error could be sped up with some basic starting points based on your arbor height

No, but we're putting together a new site and I will try to get it up in the free plans section. Thanks!
You should edit this reply to say the plan is now $5

Like some others on here, I would like to see this jig in use.
Got so much information out of this. Great video.
I chuckle to remember a time when our 3 chickens got into the house. As we tried to soo them out, they ran in circles poopin EVERYWHERE!

It's a rabbet in America (not "rabbit") and rebate in the UK. In the US a rebate is money you get back after a purchase. :)
Do you have a plan for this project? I looked in the store and did not see it?
Great idea and clean job

Hi Stumpy love your work! I built an improved version of this jig and have plans/photos I can send, if you are interested in a future video

What are you talking about? We spend 7 minutes not only showing how it works, but step by step on how to make it!
One for you: When doing finer carpentry or running trim, I prefer a .5mm mechanical pencil to anythig else.

Well. Nice jig, but I have to say... My, haven’t you come a long way?
My wife spotted my shop chicken, guess what I am having for dinner?
My hands have shook all my life. Sometimes very little, sometimes a lot. Doctors have never figured out why. Go figure.
Not so much nowadays.

Someone has the shakes.

Your humor doesn't cut it!
BREAKFAST......LOL
You lost me and Nelson when you said component. U funny.
I don't get the point of this. You might as well just use a block of wood and move it forwards and backwards.
Good work.
Video was much too long and painful.
The humor was childish.
