Did anyone ever notice that Perry Como would always invite Dean Martin to his show but Dean never invited him on his program or even did a roast for Perry. It's like their working relationship stopped when Dean had his comeback in 64. You don't see them together afterwards. Wonder why?
Intresting question!
Isn't this from 65? They had a great rapport, maybe something to do with recording contracts.
The year was 1964. Just before Dean got his own show.
MegaDean1995 I believe I read somewhere that Perry was rather conservative and a bit straight-laced when it came to what he would allow on his show. If that’s true, maybe he felt that Deans show (with the Goldiggers girls etc) was a little on the raunchy side for his image? Or perhaps he was one of those performers who didn’t feel comfortable with Deans famous policy of non-rehearsal and off-the-cuff ad-libbing style of humour. Whatever the reason it seems a pity because they DID work well together.
You raised an interesting point. Even if Perry showed as one of the secret guests behind the door routine, that would have brought a cheer from the audience. I never heard there was a rift between the two men; like the one between Dean and Jerry.
Musically speaking, the 20th century in America belonged to the Italian crooners/singers. A cursory list will prove my point: Mario Lanza, Al Martino, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Bobby Darrin, Connie Francis, Bobby Rydell, Buddy Greco, Domenico Modugno, Frankie Laine, Jerry Vale, Jimmy Roselli, Nick Lucas, Vic Damone, Julius La Rosa, Russ Columbo, Sergio Franchi, Frankie Avalon, Louis Prima, James Darren, Annette Funicello, Eydie Gorme, Liza Minelli, Anna Moffo. That's all I can remember at the moment.
You inadvertently left out the great Dion DiMucci whose voice is dear to many. :)
@@voz805,
I apologize for that. That was only a cursory list. I couldn’t remember all of them at the moment.
dear Karajokoo , your memory is spot on ! Congrats ....
@@plokijn12 Thanks! It's easy to remember many 'cause I'm fan. But if I had to mention all of them, I would fail.
thank you sir,,,,and my uncle Don Costa,,,produced most of these ppl you mentioned
I just got goosebumps remembering how great entertainers, songs and fun tv used used to be. I miss stuff like this with no politics involved and the performers connected with you like they lived next door.
Sad we didn't realize just how good the times were back then, to us all it was just another day.
Moraleja, you can start now !! :-)
man what i would give to live in those days
The great American songbook era from the Mid-20s into the Mid-60s is unlikely ever to be duplicated
Italians have a lot to answer for ... great music ... Great good looking singers who are also great singers with huge personalities.
amen to that.
absolutely
I agree 100%
Every Italian American thinks that he can sing, That's Amore !!!
We just do not have artists like this anymore. I am so glad that my Parents brought me up on music and entertainers like these two.
Perry Como had such a great voice. Loved his body of work.
He's one of my favorites.
Those days were decent not like today. Beautiful song sung by two professionals! I think I would have preferred to be born then! Thank you gentlemen for a superb rendition!

Dean Martin and Perry Como were two supremely gifted singers and entertainers! They were a delight to watch!
I was a kid at the time. America and the world were a different place. Every day was wondrous.

You must of (sic) not have attended English classes.
They are so cool calm and collected❗ and very very talented❗
This was golden TV.
Witty and fun! A great song, great voices, and hilarious banter. Ah, the 60's!! 😉
Watching this and dreaming, what if I was born in this era...
I love these singers! It's not the same anymore. Things are different now.
Dean's the best...hands down!
My heart ❤️
Perry was an absolute dream!
It's just wonderful watching this. The talent of Dean and Perry brings back memories of a different time. These were total performers, especially Dean who could sing and dance with the best of them. Thanks for RUclips! In it's own way it brings the past to the present, It also allows future performers to appreciate their talented predecessors.
No wonder I've always wished I was Italian!
Oh please bring back the good old days Smartly dressed clean honest fun and beautiful music by great artists ❤🎉🕺🎼💃🎼💝💯🙏

Love Perry, always.
Dean has great comic timing. A natural.
Classy stuff..great music and entertainers back then..it was before my time, but I luv listening to it..my dear late Mum Fay loved all this..
Dean, the consummate performing artist.
I love this two Entertainer…..
My Two Favorites Perry And Dean.🎤🎤
That folks is CLASS! Abso-f**kin’-lutely nothing on radio, TV, Satellite, CD, or any other type of media today has 1% of the talent, finesse or entertainment factor as this video and those singers/dancers. Fourty years from now nobody will even remember the glitter people of this generation but we’ll still be listening to “Everybody Loves Somebody”. Mark my words. Pardon me for using an expletive...sorry....Mac
They were both great,oh the good old times, now they shout their songs and nobody understands a word they are singing.
Time flies something your mother tells you and then finally you see what she ment
Two wonderful voices!!
2 beautiful voices
I love it thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
You are welcome!
The 60's were another time where songs expressed themselves in many ways. Where the jokes fit perfectly during the song. Nowadays, this quality does not exist, at least in my opinion. I'm fascinated by the 30's and 60's!
Two of the best singers of all time. Smooooth.
So wonderful
Oh,no saben como aprecio esta clase de música.
Precious
I LOVE DEAN MARTIN ♥ ❤ 💕 😍 💙

Both were of Abruzzese origin.Perry from Palena ad Dean from Montesilvano. The best American crooners shared Italian roots.Italians love sentimental songs...On the other hands Opera Is mainly Italian.
Dean was born in Steubenville, Ohio, USA. Madai!.
@@TolKOZAK True.He was Born there in 1917.His father Gaetano had left Montesilvano in 1913 to look for a New Life in the United States. I live. in Montesilvano,a Little Town on the Adriatica sea

Great post. I saw this on a PBS special recently, though in color. Been looking for it online since then. Thanks so much for posting this.
Glad this is what you were looking for :) You are welcome!
Wonderful channel. I have recommended it to those in a facebook Como group I belong to. Keep posting those Perry Como videos. And would also like it if you run across anything by Eddie Fisher and could post that.
@@CarlDuke, thank you! If I find any of his videos, I’ll definitely post it. By the way on my channel there is two songs by Eddie: "With these hands" and "Wish you were here" ;)
Maravilloso cuanto talento
Love them both and watched both shows.
This video showed up on my list and I immediately said oh boy this is gonna be good 😂 . Dean was such a clown, if you didn’t love his singing, you had to love his humor.
"Can't you see I'm working?" Genuine, timing free rehearsal humor, only by Dean.
Love listening to this, my Mom's favorite sing Perry Como 💕
Just wonderful.
Have so many good singers but Perry was the best I'm not tired watching all Perrys videos you posted Cost that's great..
I will be posting more and more ;)

My two favourite singers when I was a kid☘️
Much as I loved Perry Como, Dean had that something special. Come si dice? Charm? So did Perry. More than that. There must be a word in English, but I can't think of it.
