As long as the road is dry it shouldn't be a problem. I did Mokee Dugway when first moving to Arizona in 2005 in a new Chrysler 300C 4 door sedan (very low road clearance) without any issues.
Thanks for this video. It's very helpful. Looks gorgeous, most of the time a decent visual barrier between the road and the precipitous cliff, but not a road for someone afraid of heights.
thank you for posting a truly well made video.. too many vids have been made by folks who go thru a lovely garden and completely miss the flowers. You took the time to stop once in a while and give us a moment to take in that magnificent scenery! Thank you so much..
Tell me again, why was this road built? Gold? Iron ore? Copper? It must have cost a fortune to lay a road like this through the middle of nowhere -- unless they used convicts. Ah, I just found the answer, just as I thought: "The Moki Dugway was constructed in 1958 by Texas Zinc, a mining company, to transport uranium ore from the "Happy Jack" mine in Fry Canyon to the processing mill in Mexican Hat."
Great video! Thx for the post, it reminds me of Family Vacation in '96. I was there in May 1996 with my family on the way from Natural Bridge NM to Mexican Hat. Saw Deer and rabbits near the road. I drove down with Nissan Pathfinder at that time.
Thanks for posting this, heading this way on a US tour in late Oct. Wondered if I could traverse this road and believe it should be fine apart from the girlfriend freaking out. Have managed narrower and steeper roads in the Lake District, England in a Honda Civic so doing this in a 4X4 Grand Cherokee should pose no problem (famous last words). Your video convinces me I can do this and for the sceenery, it's worth it. Andrew in the UK
Planning on taking a niece to Phoenix from Indiana in September and slowly making our way back over a 10 day period. Any site seeing tips would be great
Went up (and down) early august 2013 on our way to Natural Bridges NP. Road was easy to drive with a (rented) Chevy Traverse. Weather was good, views are awesome (as this vid shows). On our way back to Arizona we did the Valley of the Gods which was also stunning (and road conditions were much better compared to Monument Valley). But nice video, gives a good picture of the Dugway and it's surroundings.
Another place i now have to go next time im in america, family in SLC so shouldn't be hard to organize, if you havent been to the Alpine Loop in utah you should check it out!!
As soon as I saw unmaintain road sign and the 5mph drive my instinct tells me this is not a good idea to take short cut, we were heading to Hanksville from Monument Valley, husband thought it's a good idea to take route 261 so we don't have to take the longer route from 163 to 95. The minute I took that sharp turn on 261 going uphill the mountain and rode on dirt road I panicked, husband kept assuring we will be okay. Thank goodness I was the driver, with 2 kids, I said nope, we are not taking this route, we are going to turn around and go back taking route 163, I don't care if it takes extra 2 hours.... I am very glad I made that decision. I am traumatized by this road, why don't the state add more safety to this road and pave it? I can't imagine if someone ran into this route at night?
Thanks for the reply Bill. We got a Nissan Pathfinder but will take your advice. In NY state tonight but should be that way in 6 weeks or so. Thank you,#Andrew
Where you stopped to pan around...you missed the big rock that looks like the face of a gorilla at the 6:50 mark. We have been up and down this several times on our motorcycles. Look for my channel here on you tube...HondaGoldwingGL1800
This a truly remarkable video Tim. Good job! Thank you so much for driving and posting

Winter and rainy season would be insane!
You were just lucky, the rains sometimes take down a lot of stones and then low ground clearance cars can be trapped….

I'm headed there in late September 2011. Thanks for posting this. Great photos too.

Miners transporting uranium ore. Built in the 1950’s
Great video!

Nice view of your dashboard, 50% of screen!
Please send a link to your video. I’m sure it’s much better.

Buen y sencillo vídeo!!!👍
@MrSeparateWays As long as the road isn't all mud you should be fine.

Good lord, what a catastrophizer
Love your Vids

Good movie of the dash
Great video!
I will be there in the next week. Do You think I'll can have problem with a Lincoln Town Car?
Great route, saves time, not that bad.
Can this drive be done in December and January?
I would not recommend it, winter weather often brings rain or snow, which can make that road quite dangerous.
意外走过一次, 下山, 2008, 畢生难忘。 再叫我走一次, 給我一百万美金, 我亦不去。 不信。。。。。谁试试。
Does Moki Dugway have steeper cliffs than Valley of the Gods?
Yes!
My husband calls it the "Dookie Pantsway". :)

Well to be fair, most people are just trying to hold onto their dear life and not pee in their pants when driving there. =)
👍
Your unecessary hydrospeeding blows thru the beautiful overhangs on the Dugway. It ruins the whole video.
