there's a good chance the new one failed more of the crash-related tests because newer cars are designed with safety as the first priority, and most new cars have "crumple zones" designed to be crushed in order for the passenger to absorb less of the impact forces
That and the extra mass from the larger sizes of modern trucks.
it’s more likely because these are inaccurate beamng mesh slap mods that took a few days too make.

It's worth noting most of these results are expected as newer vehicles are designed for driver/passenger safety, which means the vehicle has to be able to absorb more impact/stress. The vehicle absorbs more of the impact instead of the people inside.

It is kinda hard to judge this based on mods. The modder could make the jbeams stronger or weaker or deform incorrectly. Not only that but you are comparing a small cab and long bed to crew cab and short bed. Still like your conent!
This is why I take "beamng crash tests" with a grain of salts. Beamng is already not 100% realistic, but when real cars are tested, it's always modded ones made by the community

when will BeamNG start actually simulating the hydraulics and lines in the cars? Basically all steering control should be lost after the truck gets banana'd and stretched like that >_>

I'm just saying, I assume you know this, but nearly all mods of a real car skin are crap with haphazard jbeam or just modified from the original ones with the closest vehicle on the skin. ;)

Lol 😂 older is SOOO MUCH BETTER me and my dad run a mechanic in shop and omg new cars are so much more junk compared to the older vehicles even this video showed alot of it but irl the newer vehicles are alot worse than even shown here XD the older ones have such strong steal and bodies and all the engine transmission stuff is made 10x better quality and best of all less trashy electronics that always go out XD

Honestly, I think that Chevelle monster truck looks better after falling
The explosion barrel was kinda biased cuz the blue truck didn’t hit the barrel in the center it hit it off to the side
I didn't know that getting hit by a full speed monster truck was part of the crash testing.
Look at how much bigger the bed on the old one is, back when trucks were for working and not posturing to compensate for inadequacies.
You know you can still get 8' beds on trucks. Also F off with that lame crap, I have no problem putting 8' boards or 2 tons of rock in my 6½' bed. My truck works and hauls my family around.
Dangling from the hitch in reality would be dependent soley on which truck had a higher glass receiver. But even then the receiver would rip off before anything not at any fault to the truck.
New cars are supposed to crumble because they crumble the GeForce won’t be as strong and probably won’t kill you

My raptor makes 700. Dont get me wrong, I like old trucks, but I like going fast too. Old trucks also dont got kick ass audio systems, heated and cooled seats, navigation, ect.
and also make your entire body the crumple zone.
sure old cars do last and are durable, but unless you want to be seriously harmed, paralyzed or even killed on a crash that you could easily survive on a modern truck, then id recommend avoiding buying them
but again thats up to you, if you wanna take the risk for a durable car then go ahead

First test proves that this means nothing. Your stock "hitch" assembly will not ever support 100k plus pounds.

I'm not surprised the old truck won. Back then trucks were built to have long beds, be very strong being made out of 100% metal, and the engine components made them last over 500,000 miles. Nowadays it's a whole different story. People rush for money these days, so trucks last 350,000-200,000 miles. And truck manufacters nowadays pay a lot more attention to the styling than the durability, which is why the sierra lost. Note the fact that it's hard to find a six-foot truck these days. You only really have a ram 1500 and a F150 AND a Silverado as choices. Not finna list all of them.

New cars crumble better for safety reasons. So yeah a old car may look better after a crash but your survival rate is pretty low
In my opinion this comparoson was unfair because in the smash test the old one has climbed up and stay vertically, The reason for not being very damaged, the new one remained on the ground, thus being totally crushed.

I really expected the newer truck to win the frame test, just because of that split in the bed of the old one.
I also expected the new one to win the durability test due to weight, but I think the old one lost quite a bit of momentum at the beginning, there, so I'm calling that inconclusive.

nah dude im 16 with a 2008 trailblazer im in no position to want to defend new cars. i'm just a modder who makes cars for beamng and I can tell you that these models are not accurate. I'll give it to you that physically older cars were much stronger because they were made with practically indestructible materials, but that's not really a good thing when you are in the car that's crashing and you have no car crumple to lessen the impact. And yeah, I would have to agree that these older engines have proven their reliabilty and I'm betting these turbo'd 4 cylinder trucks wont last half as long as the old ones have.@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar

I look at the concrete wall test as a simulation of how the truck would go if it slammed into a building at full speed. The farther in would theoretically be a wild amount of damage. Be safe out there.
