Thank you guys for supporting and watching the video! A few things! 1) the roof has more support then what is seen in this video 2) I did use okay sand but since it has been switched to construction sand for the dust bath areas 3) used chicken wire because this isn’t their main protection just to keep the chickens inside it during the winter Thanks again you guys are the best🐥😁

This is perfect. We have fallen tree limbs and spare tires we need to use up, and this run is perfect for what we want to provide for our chickens. Thanks a bunch.
I can't wait to watch this video! We sort of have the same set up for our chickens as well. Your chickens will love it because they will be jump in the branches and swing and have so much fun 😅
8:19 I loved this scene “so I open it, and then I dump it,” then the chickens are like,”you’re just taunting us now.” 8:49 we tried the tire-dustbath but…. I will warn you we got mice in there so check the rim. Your channel is very inspirational, Good job you guys!
Very cool. The only problem I see is rats learning of the compost and they easily squeeze thru 1" chicken wire. I made a mistake not using hardware cloth and have a problem with rats....they come at dusk and dawn to clean up the mess under auto feeders.
Yeah i thought that you’d be better off putting things chickens couldn’t eat in that mesh circle as they’d be better off eating the greens rather than just the bugs
This is GREAT inspiration for upgrades to our coop here in NC. The snow was so heavy it bowed the 2x4s holding up our wire roof. We found out a lot that first Winter. I love your tree limb ideas as it will help keep them busy and a way to keep fights to a minimum. Im definately copying the tree limbs. Our coop is covered in greenhouse plastic with rollup side flaps for summer. We have 5 hens and a roo. Lets keep em happy! Robin in NC USA 2024
Great ideas... I'm curious, what did you use to hold the roof panels on? Thanks for posting. 🎉 I also wanted to mention that the large flat oil pans sold at Lowe's and Home Depot make great containers for sand bathing.
D.E. Is great for chickens I add burned out ash from the barbeque with it and sand. My chickens love it and it keeps the parasites at bay. LOVE the play ground.
I think your ladder out of the coop maybe could use more rungs in between the ones you have. They tended to walk on the edge of the ladder when coming down, rather than down the middle. Make the rungs closer together! Just my observation. Beautiful coop and run!😊❤🙏
You can get a few deeper seedling trays, add composted soil and grow micro-greens in it. Put a mesh lid over the trays and they can peck at the micro-greens through the mesh as it grows.
Nice job! Mine love their swing, but I did make a small one when they were chicks, so they've grown up swinging, and they still use their big girl swing. I hope your girls like theirs soon.
This is absolutely amazing! The chicken coop run and playground are like a dream come true for your flock! I love the creativity and attention to detail in building a space where the chickens can not only stay safe but also have fun. You’ve clearly put a lot of care and effort into making this both practical and enjoyable for your chickens. Truly inspiring and a joy to watch!
I am so inspired. I just built my outdoor run for my free rangers to have a snow-free area over the winter. Now I am going to add toys and all the things.
I love this video! Thank you for sharing. I want to make something like this for my chickens. I love how you care for your chickens! The tire dust bath is great! Have you seen them us it yet?
Great job. I sweep my roof off if a heavy snow comes. I'm out there doing their water and food so its no big issue. Glad you added more support. Snow gets heavy. Happy chickens!!!
Fantastic work, man! I didn’t think about putting metal on the bottom to protect from wind. I hope that I soon will have the courage to build a nice run like this! I’ll be watching your rain system video soon. It’s awesome how this all works as a system, with proper planning (re-purposing fallen trees, using old bedding as compost, etc). This style of run looks so simple yet I fear failing at creating a similar design. I really need to get over that fear along with the fear of other things as a new/first-time homeowner. Right now, I feel like my skill level is basically just enough to make a hoop coop lol. Just have to embrace the learning experience! The compost food tower is another great idea and I really like the dust baths. My backyard is almost all dirt/rocks, so I’m researching which bedding would be best. The mulch seems like it’s working well with you! Very cool how the chickens can go under the coop. Great job and for what it’s worth, I really appreciate seeing a good dad. That’s awesome. I can tell you’re a great dad. PS I did just level out some ground and put in 2 raised garden beds! Can’t wait to give those a shot.
Fantastic! So much getting things accomplished is getting past doubt and just starting...once you do you'll be so proud of your accomplishments and see you can do a lot more than you thought you could.@@DontDoDaylight
I love this. I was trying to find a video that I didn’t have to dig holes in my yard but have a run for my chickens so thanks for posting your idea. I think I’m going to follow it as much as I can
I like it, I was thinking about enlarging our chicken run, now thanx to you I have a better idea of what I will be doing. I love your channel, keep up the great job.
I like your ideas & recently built a run similar to this. I want to add the tree limb perches & a swing for my hennies & roos. ❤️🐓 Peace, Love & Chickens!
I just found this video. Great ideas in here. Now next weekend I will be able to do one since I have most the materials! Thanks for the natural perch ideas. Also thinking on building a bit bigger and have other small birds in it. Maybe some quail.
I did the tire thing with sand and DE and my girls do use it. I have seen clouds of sand getting kicked up and seen my girls running around with sand on their feathers. I like the branch roosts, probably will make some of those.
@@AcresOfAdventure Just curious on the question of rodents. Last night I saw three mice in the run at bedtime, two inside the run and one outside, and have started setting mousetraps at night and picking them up in the morning before I let the girls out into the run. I remove food bowls every night for cleaning but the girls do scatter food some and although I sweep at night I know there are crumbs left behind. Curious how other chicken Moms deal with pests.
This looks great. I use that olastic roofing too but it rain leaks through. Whatbis your tips on it and how to save it? Also, would love to see how you did the rain collector on your chicken coop/run. Thanks again. Love the idea of compost inside the chicken coop.
With the swing, the bottom branch should be more like a thin square wooden post as when they open their claws , they have a flat spot like the palm of your hand. The square wooden pole base will have a flat spot for them to ballance on and get their claws around for grip.
Good job! This is simular to what I have been planing on building 🙂 One adjustment I would make is adding some more rungs to their ladder. I noticed the spacing seems to be hard for them to walk on. But it is very cool👍🏻
This is a lovely scratching area for the chicks. Their house is so cosy. The trees are brilliant for them to see out and have some exercise. Are the wire holes around the compost a bit small for their beaks i wonder. Overall you built a lovely place fot your chickens. One thing only..if they are used to their foraging in the yard they will miss that so much. Thanks for sharing..great ideas here for everyone❤
Thank you brother for sharing nice practical and wonderful video, you are so creative and love the way you make things easy for us to understand, stay blessed and keep sharing nice videos, love to hear your rooster crowing 🐓
What a nice run. I have 100' of electric (but never turned on) fencing around my run, and also put up a bunch of large tree limbs like you did. They love the limbs and used them all the time. Finally, at the end of the vid you started looking at the lens. Appreciate it when TYers do that. Makes me feel like you're actually talking to me.🙂 My coop has a tin roof, but was planning on replacing it with that stuff like you used.
we have previously used black rubber bowls that freeze slower however we have stopped using them because of lead. Honestly making a couple trips out there a day is sometimes the best we can do. Our chickens have access to the snow so they can consume that if they really need something.
I think your comost idea is a good one, but I think chicken wire would give them more access to the food scraps instead of hardware cloth! It is kind of like a tease when the good stuff is in the middle! You might find a chicken inside the bin one day! LOL! Love the natural perches!
Or…make it bigger and shallower so they CAN get in it and they will make you some fertile compost. And have the time of their lives doing it. Look up chicken tractor on steroids here on RUclips to see what I mean.

So nice to finaply see someone else using natural branches and giving them perches to jump around on!
I am not sure if that roof can hold any amonth of snow
He def should add a couple 4x4 support beams.
Or wind.
Doesn’t snow much in San Diego.
@@justinraburn4232 Well that makes sense...

This is awesome! Any chicken would be proud to have a playground like that. Gave me some ideas too.
I hope they will enjoy the winter in there!

VERY nice job !
I can’t imagine that roof holding a Michigan snow fall
It adds more fun for the chickens, they get to see an avalanche 😆
Those chickens are living a great life 🥰 thanks for sharing ❤🙏.
I think you need to reinforce your roof if you're expecting a lot of snow. Gr8 job on the build out of the coop
Thank you! I have added more support for the roof!
What support did you use?
Ah oui, ça ne semble pas très solide et il n'y a pas assez de pente pour que la neige glisse facilement
Yes definitely if he isn't a snow region the snow gets so heavy here where I live I had to put a 2 by 4 and metal roof on my Coupe
It will crush with first snow.
